    The New Me

    You look great! Congratulations!
  2. Hi all, 2 weeks post op tomorrow. All has been going great and have been pain free for some time now. This morning I got in my car and must have bent "hard" or twisted (not actually sure what happened), but immediately felt some pain on my left side. Haven't been able to shake the pain all day. It's a bit dull, but will spike up here and there or when I drink sometimes. Should I be concerned? I'm a worrier by nature so my mind is going a bit crazy and thought maybe someone else has done something similar early on post-op? Thanks guys!
  3. Thank you both for replies! Awife: how long did the pain last for you? Nikkoal: so, so sorry to hear about your picc. I hope it's very temporary and you start feeling better quickly!
  4. Thanks Twins! Hoping its just like you said. Have a good night!

    It's Surgery Eve

Good luck! And YES THE BATH TOWEL! Can't wait for that either! Prayers for a swift recovery!
  6. Hi! I was sleeved August 15 and am feeling great! I promise, 4-5 days makes SUCH a difference! I feel like myself again, and was even able to go on a trail hike this morning. As far as Protein, I am obsessed with Isopure's chocolate flavor. It doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste and is smooth to get down. Waiting to feel better was definitely the hardest part for me. Despite my size I still managed to be somewhat active so being completely sidelined really threw me for a loop. But everyday I felt a little bit better! You sound like you're doing great though! Keep up the good work!
  7. Congrats girlfriend!

    lesson learned

Ah I know! This has honestly been the hardest thing for me! I was a water guzzler pre-op, and this habit is dying hard.

    Anesthesia Cost

Carole, I work in insurance and this problem is pretty common. My first recommendation would be to call Aetna. You did your due diligence as the member/patient by selecting a participating (in-network) surgeon and facility. You had no say in the anesthesiologist, so you should not be on the hook for any additional charges (outside of what your charge would have been had they been in-network). You have to be persistent with them, but in the end it should work out in your favor. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss further!

    Update on my surgery

You sound like you're doing great! Are you still having any pain? I'm 3 days post op and not sure when to expect to feel somewhat normal again?

    August 2013 Roll Call

Hi fellow August sleevers! I had my surgery yesterday at 11:45 and was discharged around 2:00 today. Getting in and out of bed has been the hardest! I'm one of the lucky ones that can get fluids down no problem. I hope it stays that way! Wishing everyone a speedy recovery!
  16. I had my surgery around 1145 this morning! So excited but am not able to pee. They just had to do this thing to empty my bladder (literally 850 cc in there LOL). Did anyone else have this problem? Also, it may sound strange that I'm concerned about this, but I'm actually not having trouble getting liquids down. I feel like every post I read mentioned issues with liquids. Was anyone else OK with liquid requirements? Thank you all!
  17. Thank you all for the quick replies! Bladder started working in the middle of the night (woohoo!). Very sore today, so I figured all the good stuff wore off by now! Happy Friday everyone!
  18. Thank you stacechase! You definitely just calmed my nerves a little bit!
  19. So good to know! Thank you both for such quick replies! Were you guys able to pee normally? Still not having luck. Strangest feeling ever!
  20. Surgery at 10:30 tomorrow morning! Praying for speedy recoveries to all the other 8/15'ers!
  21. Best of luck! You're going to knock it out of the park! I go in tomorrow, so right there with you about the nerves!
  22. You look fantastic! Keep up the good work girlfriend!

    Any sole providers here?

Does your job offer short term and/or long term disability? Both usually only pay put 60% (on average) of your gross pay, but it could at least give you some peace of mind maybe? I admire your courage to move to one income household. I pray I'll be able to do the same thing when I have kids!
