    Pre-op food

Pre op was truly one of the most confusing and difficult times of my life. Thank God it's short lived. About a month post op, once you start eating more "normal" foods again, you'll begin to understand what a truly wonderful gift you've given yourself.
  2. What do you mean and how do I prevent it?
  3. Yes. I was an ice fanatic pre sleeve now it has to be warm or room temp. My question is more that I think I'm actually drinking enough so why am I not properly hydrated?
  4. They are my favorite pre made shakes. They have them at Costco as well.
  5. The beautiful thing about this surgery is that after it, particularly right after, is the struggles you are experiencing now will be a thing of the past, completely wiped from your memory. They'll inch back, but when they do you'll be much better equipped to deal with it. You've got this!
  6. I used to always be sweaty and hot. After surgery I got cold very easily. Now at 5 months out it's not as severe but I had to shop for a sweater and a coat... haven't had one of those in 10 years.
  7. I'm not a drinker but I do have a very occasional drink. I was sleeved 10/21 and have had a drink on 3 occasions. Each time I could feel it just getting the glass near my mouth! I drank slow and couldn't finish but I had no problems Andy husband loves that I'm now such a cheap date! Stay away from anything bubbly or frothy, sleeves don't like it.

    Emotional moment

I was going to post something supportive, because I remember that time so well, but honestly, the above post was beautifully written and spot on.

    Confused

It's SO normal. And it will be a struggle for a long time if not forever. BUT, after the sleeve it will be a manageable struggle. We've all been exactly where you are and even with the struggles that the sleeve presents, most of us wouldn't go back for anything in the world. You've got this!
  10. I agree with the above post. Also, make sure you are not eating or drinking to much or to fast. It could also be acid that early out so make sure you're still taking the blocker.
  11. I've kept quiet but there's something I feel the need to say. First, I come here for support and perspective. I'm not always in a sunshine-y mood when I need this support. I thought this would be a good place to get the perspective I was after and the honest and serious comments from (almost) everybody truly helped me wrap my head around an experience that threw me for a loop. It helped me see things differently, which was exactly what I needed and what I asked for. However. .. to those of you that are SO angry and ready to beat me with a stick all I can say is I'm sorry for you - that you can't see things from someone else's view and have some understanding, even days later. My op truly wasn't meant to hurt anybody, I was hurting from my personal journey and experience and as others have done, they have given their point of view without the nastiness. I sincerely pray that you find enough peace within yourself to get over your grudge for somebody that posted something in an online support forum. I hope that you never inadvertently say something that offends someone else and they act the way you do. I'm not sorry for my post. I do regret some of the words I used and I regret that they hurt people on here in any way. But support isn't always pretty. Sometimes what we need isn't politically correct or polite. Sometimes it hurts. But hurting back is NOT what I teach my children. That's all. Have a nice day

    Easter Challenge

Im in too! GW for Easter 175. Thanks Bea
  13. Gotta do it every day. In the morning after I pee.
  14. I think that's amazing. To feel normal. To not stand out and to just fit in Aside from health benefits it's one of the most important nsv you can have. Congratulations
  15. Just before I was wheeled in for surgery I had them go over all of my allergies with me. In the or they removed everything I was allergic to so that it wasn't even an option. As far as the stitch in the largest incision, that appears to be common and it just is what it is. It's concerning when your going through it then it pops and you feel like you never even had surgery.
  16. I still have 40 to go so no help here. A lot of vets do 5:2. Maybe check it out
  17. I'm so happy for you that everything has been textbook and so easy for you. I had a similar experience but there are a lot of people on here who did everything right and weren't so lucky. Keep following your plan and you'll have great success. Check with your surgeon about the Aleve though... most surgeons say NO nsaids ever

    Chili

I tried chili (blended) very early out with no problems. Just try a little to make sure it's well tolerated and only if you're far enough along in your program

    ONEDERLAND at LAST

I'm so sorry for the path you find yourself on and I can't really relate to your journey but someone who can and is a great source of inspiration is RJs/beginning. Check her out. .. I think it would be helpful to you. Good luck
  20. Your body's in shock. You just had major surgery that included altering your internal anatomy. It takes time for your body to catch up to your program. Follow your plan and it will happen.

Just a Whiny Vent ("My New Insurance")

Even without all those complications it took me six months. Trust me, it's worth the wait
  22. Oh miserable, you poor thing. I have dealt with constipation my whole life so this was nothing new for me but it has definitely gotten worse since wls. Staying hydrated enough is still a problem almost 5 months out. Drinking enough water is a full time job that I'm failing at.
  23. Couldn't have said it better. Just make sure you have a clear understanding of your roll in the first few post op weeks. You'll do great

    Boobs.

Sad sad sad. My poor boobs will never look good without serious support again. They worked hard and served me well and they've been retired for some time but they still looked good. As long as I'm wearing a good bra they still do but getting a bathing suit has been quite a challenge.
