    Wrinkles?!?!?! Help!

OMG Indigo...I was drinking tea when I read the last part of your post. I spit it everywhere! FYI my butt also resembles a Shar-Pei <grin>
  2. Losing a parent is very difficult, especially your mom. I am so sorry for your loss. As far as protein, I drink Premier protein ready made shakes. They have 30 grams of protein. I believe you can buy them at Costco, Walmart, and Safeway. Again, I am sorry for your loss. Take care.

    Recovery room question

I recovered in my room. I don't remember much other than being to warm. They had me piled high with warm blankets. I did great after removing all the blankets and keeping the sheet.
  5. Me too nona, I love Dr. Garcia and ready4achange.com. Gammy, the reason my surgery was more expensive than nona's was due to my BMI, which was 53-54. Good luck nona, have a safe journey.
  6. I too was self pay. I went to Mexico for my surgery and paid 5200.00 + air fare. To me this was a great price. I have no regrets and love my sleeve. That being said, I would recommend researching alternative financing or finding a hospital who will take payments. Also, have you thought about care credit? They do medical financing. You can do this...I have faith in you and things will work out for you. Good luck.
  7. Awesome job! My suggestion to you is to shop at thrift stores for clothing, otherwise you will be spending a fortune as you continue to lose weight. I just bought a pair of jeans at goodwill for $3.99. Same brand I get at the retailers and never worn. Keep up the good work and congratulations!

    Does anyone regret it?

No, I do not regret my decision. I feel better than I have for the last 20+ years. I'm sorry to hear you are having a difficult time. Try to be patient, you are still healing from major surgery. It will get better. Good luck to you and keep us informed on your progress.
  13. You go girl! Stay strong and you will be at goal in a heart beat! Congrats on your successes.

    I'm new, too!

Welcome to the site. Who are you planning to do your surgery? If you haven't chosen yet, I would recommend Dr. Fernando Garcia with ready4achange.com. He did my surgery in August 2013 with no complications. He and his staff are awesome! Your feelings are normal. I too alternated between scared and excited. I glad you got up the nerve to post. Good luck on your journey.

    Hello! New here!

Welcome to the site. There are loads of interesting posts for you to read. Congrats on your surgery and I am glad you are doing well. Good luck on your journey!
  16. I believe Cowgirljane had her surgery in Mexico. If you go to the search bar and type in plastics, then click the down arrow and choose forum, a bunch of posts show up that should help with your issue. I am not even close enough to get plastics yet. Good luck to you.
  17. I can understand your fear. I was scared too when I first decided to be sleeved. I spent time researching and reading posts on websites. I went to Mexico for my sleeve. My surgery was with Dr. Fernando Garcia. I have been sleeved for 7 months with no complications other than constipation (sometimes) and heartburn (spicy foods). Everyone is different and will have different levels of success. Some lose weight quickly and some are slow. The best thing to remember is that this is a tool not a miracle surgery. It takes work. I have lost 98 lbs and feel great! Better than I have for the last 20 years. I have no regrets and would do this again in a heart beat. Use some of your time to look around the forum and read posts. There is a lot of good information and support to be had on this website. I wish you the best of luck on your new journey.

    Rate of weight loss

People who have a lot of weight to lose tend to lose more, faster. That being said, I usually manage 2-3 lbs per week, except this week which is a stall. Everyone is different. Good luck to you!
  19. Sorry to disappoint you, but, UHC community plan does not cover WLS according to my book. Good luck to you.

Yes, I did. It is snowing outside so I road my recumbent bike 20 miles. Approx 75 minutes at level 5...go me!

    Eating out

I eat at Applebees with my mom all the time. I usually order the french onion soup without the cheese and bread. I also order a side of grilled shrimp. I take home what ever I don't eat. Works out great. I will have to look at the child's menu for the steak.

    Did my sleeve work?

How much protein are you getting? Water? How fast are you eating and are you waiting 30 minutes before and after you eat?
  24. You're body is still recovering from major surgery and healing. This is a journey, not a speed race. Be patient, I understand it is frustrating. If you thing you may be at a stall, try searching for "weight loss stall", click the down arrow, and choose "forum" approximately 1000 posts will show up with suggestions from others who have been there before you. Good luck.
