  1. So I was told NO caffeine after surgery, well before too. Now after surgery any fruity or vanilla and most chocolate Proteins or any Protein that has lactose is a NO-GO for me. I bought a tub of Syntrax nectar Cappuccino and have been drinking that every day but am getting TIRED of it- at least once a day for a month blah. I did add some vanilla Syntrax Nectar to some decaf with some lactaid but it wasn't good enough to buy a giant tub. I am tired of googling and reading, so does anybody know of a great caffeine free/lactose free product? Maybe even something with a lower level of lactose that i can experiment with. And why do they make the yummy caffeine proteins if we are supposed to avoid caffeine anyways?

    Sudden Diarrhea 3 weeks out?

I started my day at 0500 with a protein shake, and stopped my colace and have only had a problem early this morning twice. Now to figure out if it was the milk in my protein from the last few days, the lack of protein from the last few weeks, the colace or something else. BLAH but at least I am not rushing to the bathroom all the time!

    August 19th

This week I have developed diarrhea, with the cramping and goosebumps. I went from what I would say was normal loose stools every 3 days (liquid in, liquid out right!) to 3-4 times a day urgent diarrhea. (could it be b/c I am on purees now?) My doc had me on a daily colace and I am cutting that out today, but I am miserable and can't leave the house. I start work on Monday so need to get a handle on this NOW. I only hit my 60 oz Protein goal 1 day and have never hit my 64 oz Fluid goal, pushing myself today to do both in hopes that it will help me. Anybody else having this problem?

    Sudden Diarrhea 3 weeks out?

I will be 3 weeks out on Monday and in the last 4 days it has gotten bad. Early on post-op I was going every 3 days or so and of course it was liquid but that was expected. Now I am going 3-4 times a day with lots of cramping and chills when it comes on. Now it is more mucous- tinged. I am going to email the NUT, I haven't been meeting my goals (protein or water) and am worried that I will end up super dehydrated :-( Reno1128 did your NUT say the diarrhea should go away after you eat more protein? I have to go back to work on Monday and I can't be doing this there.

So glad I read this, I am freaking out too and just posted in the August roll call. We have the same dates, maybe we can talk each other down!

    August 2013 Roll Call

I start my pre-op low carb diet tomorrow, I am really freaking out. I hope I am making the right choice. Anybody else doing this? I was so sure that this was the best thing for my health and now I am doubting. The few people I have told have told me that I don't look "fat enough" to mutilate my body, even my own NUT asked if I still wanted to do this since I lost 15 lbs since May. I have never had surgery, and I am scared. I also wonder if I am really scared or scared of the disapproval that I know I will receive. Of course my shrink is out of the office and the bariatric one I saw prior to surgery authorization is 3 hours away...

    August 2013 Roll Call

So after changing some things around with my profile I guess I deleted the original one! I am scheduled for August 19 at a military treatment facility. I am super excited, super scared and nervous. I am not telling family beyond my husband and one of my sister-in-laws. I also told 4 friends, 1 friend found out I was considering it and she was very unsupportive so I most likely will not be telling her that I am scheduled and probably not even after. Privacy during my recovery should be relatively easy to maintain as we don't live around family. I am blogging my experience as being a military dependent has different challenges and I am one of 2 people from our base who has done this (our base does not offer the surgery and can only refer out for gastric bypass and the band, so I have had to travel to another base several hours away). I am hoping that the struggles I have faced to get into the program will help someone else, right now my blog is not live but after surgery I will change the settings. Hopefully I can pave to the way for someone else who is interested.
