  1. Yes I've noticed both. 9 Months post op, , still have it.
  2. Just wondering how everyone is doing 8 months post-op. I had a good 6 month follow up with doc who said I am on track. I got a FitBit for my bday and it is pretty awesome at tracking my fitness, sleep patterns, hydration and caloric intake/burn. I highly recommend it just because it really gives a great visual of what you are doing! Doc says to aim for 25 more lbs by 1st anniversary. I was plateauing every 10 lbs, lose the 10 fast then plateau again. It seems the plateaus are longer now, but my clothes are getting too big for me still, so although the scale doesn't show it, I know my body is still changing and maybe it's turning fat into muscle. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Highest was 261, pre surgery 241, current 173. I was walking 3 miles twice a week and last week walked at least 2 miles each day for 7 days! I was on vacation though. Now that it's back to reality and work, I am going to aim for 3-4 times a week, adding hills for the cardio portion.I have found many nodules, pea sized to marble sized on my outer thighs, neck, and calves which I assume are lipomas, but have an appt with regular MD to look into this. Anyone else have these? The are a little painful with pressure. I still can only eat a few bites...of anything. My doc wants me to just eat 3 meals a day, but I think I'd die. I wouldn't get enough nutrients with as little as I eat. I personally think eating 5 times a day is fine, especially because I am eating healthy. I still have trouble with meat of any kind. I used to love Water, it's all I drank, but post surgery it has a funny taste to me and is not as satisfying as it used to be...weird huh? Anyone else? I know tastes and preferences change post surgery, but water?! I feel like my stomach will never be the same again and I have just gotten used to the new feelings/limits. I love fruits, nuts, vegetables, yogurt. I take Vitamin B12 daily and should take multi-vites daily but I often forget that one. I have a really bad case of reflux...worse since surgery and oh my is it painful sometimes. I would like to hear how everyone is doing, if you are having the same issues, or any info you want to share about how you are managing your activity, diet, etc. Have any of you looked into the skin removal step? I am on the fence as to whether I will do that or not. Any thoughts? Hope all of you July sleevers are doing well. -PZ
  3. Just had my overdue 6 month checkup. Doc says I'm right on track. Good to hear. Only exercise I have been doing is walking 3 miles once a week. I want to start toning/building muscle. Went from size 24 to size 16. Feeling great, glad to leave the first 4 months in the past. Now I know why you need a psych exam before doing the sleeve! That was emotionally taxing. My plantars fascitis/foot/knee problems are non-existent since the weight loss. Yeah, I got the excess skin but I am so happy with my weight loss-I'll live with it. I'd like to work on it without plastic surgery because I think that surgery would be waaaaay more painful than the sleeve. I didn't even need pain meds after the sleeve! Hope everyone is as happy as I am about their decision. Now, I eat to live, and not live to eat.

    July 2013 Sleevers

I agree. I'm not eating anywhere near the same amounts or calories that I used to so I am bound to lose-and I have. I knew it would not be overnight. One positive thing is if I can exercise more, then slow weight loss is better so I can keep more toned and work that excess skin as best as I can. I am just not stressing about it.Here are some quick foods: Justin's nut butter packets (sooo good), cottage cheese cups, avocado slices, oatmeal banana baby flakes with skim milk, plain tuna salad, skim milk w/ protein powder, blended soups (lentil, pea, chicken), yogurt cups, babyel mini cheese rounds (surprisingly easily digested). What do you all like for quick snack/foods?

    July 2013 Sleevers

I was sleeved July 24th, so 5 weeks out now. I am feeling like I have very bad reflux and it's all the time. I often get hiccups and I frequently feel like I have a lump in my throat, some burning and recurring nausea. I can only eat a few bites of pureed food or 6 ounces of soup at a time and very slowly. I used to drink lots of water but can't force it down now! I hate sweet drinks like gatorade or protein shakes. I have been drinking skim or 1/% milk with unflavored whey protein. I am at a stall with weight but not concerned except that I feel like I'm getting smaller everywhere except my middle! I wonder if I will always feel this way. I do not get satisfaction from food as I used to in the past. I guess that's a good thing but it's kind of depressing. The problem is that I am eating so little and my normal life duties as a mom to 4 and working full time have resumed and I have little to no energy at the end of each day. I have not worked exercise into my routine yet. I need to but I am starting from zero-a flight of stairs exhausts me to no end. Any advice on how to start small and move up from those who have done it? Saving lots of $ from not eating out, and enjoying cooking for the family even though I don't eat what I make!

I was sleeved July 24 and was feeling fine until this week. What were your symptoms of leak? I am having abdominal pain and major nausea. No fever, no vomiting yet. But I just feel like something is wrong.

    July 2013 Sleevers

4 weeks post surgery (tomorrow). Starting pureed foods. Feeling great. (Never used pain meds post surgery anyways). I had these fiber internal stitches working their way out of my incisions that were a bit creepy to pull out... anyone else? (gross i know). I had issues with constipation week 3, but I think its just my body adjusting. I used to be very regular (daily), but now it's like every 3rd day. Scale slowly shows 1-3 pd loss every 4-5 days. I'm 30 down from my highest (when I first met with surgeon). I am 15 down from surgery date. I felt that week 3 was a stall mode, didn't lose (maybe 1 lb) but now I'm losing again. I have not been tracking my exact calories/protein/sugar/etc. since my diet is so limited-what's the point?! Now that I am on pureed food, I will start. I use myfitnesspal also, love it. My user name is "rphpauline". Add me. I have bad reflux which i never had before, I can live with it. I really want to avoid skin removal so I can't wait to start full exercise! My supplements are as follows: 1 baby aspirin, 1 sublingual B-12, 2 Flintstones Complete vitamins, 2 Tums smooth daily. I have been back to work since week 2. I don't think I'm getting enough plain water in. It's the most difficult thing to do! I hate the flavored waters, sweet protein shakes etc. Plain water and milk with unflavored protein powder has worked best for me. Happiness is....dancing around the house to my favorite old school funk/disco from the 70s-80s. What's your happiness? Best of luck to all July sleevers!

    Friends are changing

I went into it knowing that would probably happen, and told myself that I would probably find out who my true friends are. Everyone seems to be kind and supportive at first. We will see....

    July 2013 Sleevers

So, today I found out that my blood sugar has been dropping at night. It was causing me to have temple headaches in the morning upon awakening, dizziness/faint feeling. After I drink my morning soy milk, a little while later, I'm fine. Started testing my glucose. Yes, it is low. I am told that it can affect vision too. So if you have these things...check your sugar!

    July 2013 Sleevers

I am having similar experiences as you are. Surgery was on 7/24, 1 week post op now. The pain with deep breath is almost gone now. I walk about 30 mins twice a day (usually) and putter around the house. My vision is a little funky too, like harder to focus when reading, headaches in morning when I wake up, and my jaw seems to be sore so I wonder if I am clenching at night. (never did that before).
