    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

Hi All, It's been a long time since I've been on the board, if you asked me what happened..it's called Life's been happening... To date I have only lost 60lbs, I have slowed down to practically nothing. My food is not as clean as it use to be, but I went from a size 26/28 to 18, so I am blessed! gypj, I remember seeing you on the board and really struggling in the beginning, WOW look at you now. I read in a Weight Lost magazine that bandsters "window of weight lost opportunity" never closes. I'm filled to about 1.75cc and I should get more and I will, it's just that I don't like that stuck feeling, then I have to relieve myself,,,and you probably all know what I have to do...
  2. I can't believe 1 year ago today I had my surgery, how time flies. Last night my family and I were looking at pictures we took before I left that morning for surgery and what a difference. I'm currently 50 lbs less then I was a year ago, I had expected more but I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Yesterday at work I got so many compliments and it made me feel so good. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I still see the old me, I guess that will take some time. I use to wear a size 26/28 currently a size 20. I'm eating so much healtier and taking Vitamins and I can't believe the energy I have! I hope and pray this year I can lose another 65 pounds and then I will consider having a tummy tuck. This was the best gift I could every give myself.:clap2:
  3. Hi all, I can't believe it is going to be 1 year since I had my lapband surgery, what a difference a year makes. I went to see my Dr yesterday because I noticed my port moved up about 2-3 inches, (now it's sitting around the waistband area, as opposed to being on top of my right hip bone) . It was my lucky day because usually I see the PA, but my surgeon was in. He took a look and said, now I want you to lay down, he looked at the port area, then he said, I want you to stand up. He showed me where the band use to be and said that because I have lost weight, my skin is now sagging and my abdominal wall has tighten, due to excerise. So my port has moved due to a tighten abdominal wall, but it is still stitched in the same place. Then he told me to get on the scale and I lost another 5 pounds. I will be celebrating my 1 year bandanniversary on March 18th, I wanted to lose at least 60lbs but I will take the 50, considering that I have not been 100% with my food choices. He told me I am on target, he said if I keep up the good work I can expect to keep on losing in year 2 and in year 3. He also said that down the road if I get thinner, my port might protrude so he will have to surgically reposition it. My dr. also does tummy tucks, so I will ask him if he can do that at the same time.
  4. Look and feel so much better Excercise with more ease  Climb the stair almost effortlessly  Went from a size 26/28 to a size 20 Look in the mirror more often Get a lot of compliments on how good I look Doctor almost ready to take me off blood pressure medication Don't snore at night anymore Can fit into chairs with arms better Don't get as tired as I use to
  5. I have been tracking my food and excercise on Fitday.com since I had my surgery on March 18, 2005. Fitday.com and the lapband surgery have been my success, I don't know where I would be without the two. I'm know considering buying the software for my pc, because I hear it's a bit more detailed.:biggrin1:
  6. Hi everyone, Do any types of medications erode or adversely destroy the lapband. As we all get older we may need some types of medications for illnesses, or types of heart problems, or even chemo for cancer treatment. Renee Age 48 Scheduled 3/18 for lapband procedure
  7. I'm coming up on my 1 year bandanniversary and this morning when I awoke I went to feel my port and it's not in the same place. I had a small fill about 1 week ago and since then it moved up about 1 inch. I'm down almost 50lbs and I can feel it more now then before I lost the weight. I hope I'm not going crazy...has this happen to others?

Woke up and my port moved...

Hi Photonut, No pain, just moved up, really weird. Since I've lost the weight (and I have a lot more to go), the port is so defined on my right side, like just skin and port, not so much fat surrounding it, and I'm not going crazy it moved up about 1 inch closer to my waist line...

    Calcium helps break down fat

My doctor also insisted on taking Calcium with D along with a multi vitamin, he recommended 1200 a day.
  11. Hi all, I know I haven't posted in a long long time, so I hope you can all forgive me. Life has taken a hold of me and I've been so busy at work that I have not taken the time to post, but I do read often. I'm offically down 45 pounds since being banded on March 18, 2005. My original plan was to be down 60 pounds the first year, but I don't think I'm going to make that in the next three weeks. Hopefully I can drop another 5lbs in the next 3 weeks, which will total 50lbs in one year. I still have a long way to go but because of my poor choices in foods I have not lost as much as I should of. My doctors office told me last week that I am on track and to keep going. My last fill or unfill was in August 2005, I was at 1.75cc but could not hold down a lot of food, so they brought me down to 1.65cc. When I had my visit last week the doctor pulled back some of my fill and she told me I was now showing only 1.55, she said that was due to overpacking my pouch, Oophs! So they filled me back up to 1.75cc and I'm feelng fuller a lot sooner....
  12. Corgi

I need your opinion on an unfill.

get an unfill, i had the same thing happen to me and went to the doctors and got and unfilled and I felt so much better. I am currently at 1.65cc's for the last 6 months and I fell now I would like to go up to 1.75ccs. I go for a weight in on Friday and then I will talk to the PA and see what she says...

    Prednisone & weight gain

Hi vinesqueen, I am down 41 lbs, losing slowly but going in right direction. I was on prednisone when I had my Chemo 3 years ago, my weight went through the roof. But I was on 100mgs for 5 days for 6 cycles, it was not fun. I am sure that if you are on a short period of time the weight gain will only be temporary. Hang in there...

    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

Banded March 18 and down 40lbs, I am sure I could of done better, but as I always say, I am headed in the right direction. My goal is to lose another 20 by next March, then in my second year lose the other 60. The reason I chose the band is because I want to be able to do some of my own work, my own discipline, and I think with the band you have to have your head in the right place. The band doesn't work only by itself, we need to work with it.
  16. Hi All, Guess who, a blast from the past. Please forgive me, it's been about a month since my last post when my husband and I were crusing to Bermuda. The Cruise was the Best ever! I have a lot to be Grateful for Today...3 years Cancer Free this past September, and an official -40lb weight lost in 8 months. My blood pressure is well below normal, I take 1/2 the medications I use to take, and working out 5 times a week for 30 minutes. My weight lost is slow BUT I am heading in the right direction. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

    I'm Eroded

Michelle, You have been such an INSPIRATION to me and I have followed your advice throughout this whole journey and can't thank you enough. I will pray that your surgery goes well. Today, I am Grateful to Michelle for her success.
  18. Hi all, My husband and I are leaving out of Port Liberty NJ today for our frist Cruise to Bermuda, it has been 7 years since our last vacation far away. I'm doing very well with my band, October 18 will be 7 months. I was suppose to get OFFICIALLY weight at the doctors on Friday 10/14 in New Haven, but with all the flooding from the Rain I was not able to get their. I'm down another possible 7, weight loss is very slow about a pound a week, but heading in the right direction. Many people have said the food is enormous on a Cruise, but I will not be able to eat much. I'm going to try and make good choices, and excercise really hard while cruising. Jamie, I want to say you are doing FRANTASTIC, that's what happens when you have a young bod, you go girl...keep up the good work... Love to all...

    Just got home

Congratulations! I was swollen for about 10 days, my tummy area, then it gradually went away. I didn't experience gas pains like a lot of others did, but hang in, it does get better!

    Does band size matter?

My doctor decides once he gets into your stomach to make the decision, he said I only needed the 9.75cc band because my stomach wasn't that big. I am currently restricted at 1.65cc but could probably use just a tad more. My weight loss has slowed down, we will see at my next appointment the end of October if I need more fill.

    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

Hi Jamie, I can't believe it's been 6 months for us both, while I am not losing as quickly as you, I am losing slowly. I think I'm down another 8lbs but I will wait till it's official, I see my doctor every 7-8 weeks. I have a lot of NSV's, lower blood pressure, size 22 instead of 28, when I go to the doctors to get my blood pressure taken my upper arm fits in the normal size cuff. I'm excercising 4-5 times a week on my treadmill for at least 40 mins, and I don't binge any more! At my third fill they brought me up to 1.85cc, I was tight, tight, tight, I was vomiting to much and too many sore throats, so they brought me down to 1.65cc, this seems to be comfortable for me, I will be staying at this fill level for a while.
  22. Never, No, Nada., I know someone who died, plus I have a friend who had nothing but problems. Also my husband's relative was laid up in the hospital for 2 months after and was given his last rights 3 times. While my weight loss is really slow, I would take this anyday...
  23. I just had another unfil I was at 1.85cc's now I am at 1.65cc's, what a difference. While I enjoyed being tight I was TOO tight and was vomiting almost every signal day, maybe two days a week I didn't, but I knew I couldn't go on living like that. I also was making poor food choices because of too much restriction. I would call your doctors office and let them know. A slight unfill will make you feel so much better.

    Why no Rice?

sometimes I can tomatoe and rice Soup, or chicken and rice soup, but that's about it. I tried a small amount and it always gives me problems. Corgi
  25. Ideal restriction, that's what I finally have now, I'm losing VERY slowly, I no longer PBing or vomiting when I eat. I eat 1/3 what I use to consume and feel better that I can tolerate meat and proteins a bit more. I went for my follow up a few weeks ago and had some fill remove, I am at 1.65cc. I'm able to make smarter choices and no longer in the soft food syndrome. IDEAL Restriction, I finally get it, after 5 months of being banded....
