Well, for me, I went in, got comfortable in my room. They had an overnight stay for all patients where I went (TJ Mexico). I had an IV put in, and about an hour later I walked in to surgery. They gave me the anesthesia but I don't remember it. My surgery took about 35 minutes. Afterwards I was aparently a little bit of a chatterbox (but I don't remember that either!!!) and then I slept about an hour. They made me get up and talk about twice around the clinic and then I continued to sleep for the remainder of the night. I felt fine the next day and we got released from the hospital. I walked around quite a bit the next day.

Hey everyone! I was just banded 2 days ago in TJ Mexico with Dr. Ortiz and I'm starting to realize this is going to be a lot harder than I thought. I never realized before how much my life revolved around food. It was a comfort, protection, and medicine for me. I am at my parent's place recovering and being around the food but knowing I can't eat it is so hard. I am walking around the house depressed, not knowing what else to do. I feel hungry but they told me I wasn't going to be hungry so I figure this is mental hunger. The thing is, food was such a huge part of my life...I am not sure how to replace it. Any ideas? What has helped you?

I was banded yesterday and today am still at the clinic until I get taken back to the hotel but thought i'd have you all know it was wonderful! I am super duper excited for everything that is about to take place! I was fortunate enough to have a sweet girl that allowed me to see her get her fill done. :clap2: I wasn't as bad as I thought! Anyway, today I've had a few sips of juice and broth, that's about it. Surprisingly I'm not hungry. Just eager to get up and moving again! I am SO excited!! YAY!

That's a great idea. Everything's been very quick for me, the decision, etc. But I am being banded in one week from today :whoo:and starting my preop today as well! I am supposed to eat 3 protein shakes a day. I wish I would have started sooner though. Good luck!

I am feeling the same way! I am getting banded July 6th actually, but a lot of strange feelings have gone through my head...almost like grief for thinking about never being able to eat for comfort again or never being able to eat like a real person, or having the scars, etc. But yesterday I went to a social gathering and just was reminded of why I am doing this. I felt embarrassed about the way I looked, I felt scared because I was wearing heavy clothes and it was burning hot outside...and I am starting to think that what I am giving up is NOTHING compared to what I'm getting. Even though it WILL change my life, I am READY for that change!!
