  1. My doctor gave me a fabulous statistic' date=' that for me, really puts things in perspective, and helps calm the nay-sayers:

"Stunkard and McLaren-Hume's 1959 study of 100 obese individuals, which indicated that, 2 y after treatment, only 2% maintained a weight loss of 9.1 kg (20 lb) or more (1)" Source: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/82/1/222S.full

I can't believe your doc can't get more recent stats than one over 50 years old.

  2. I usually go to the Thursday noon meetings - I teach from 12-4 on Tuesday so right now those aren't an option. Although I have 10/15 meeting on my calendar - maybe that is fall break. I love the support meetings overall. Love being able to pick the brains of the folks who have been there, done that

I hope things go quickly for you! I'm not going to lie, every so often I have little freak outs about surgery. But between visiting here and going to the support meetings, I feel much better. I've never had any kind of surgery so just the whole unknown has me stressed.

  3. I have a question for my fellow vertically challenged folks. I see many folks mention "losing slowly." Is this because you have less to lose to start with? Or is this happening because folks are short. I assume the former, but....

Also, for the slow losers, have you noticed your skin keeping up with your weight loss?
