  1. Was 5 weeks out on Monday and am needing some menu ideas. I am curious to see see what others at this point are eating and their menu. I have been on soft foods now for one week and have been given the ok as of today to advance and try foods as tolerated. Please share your menu. Thanks!
  2. HI! I am going to a reception this weekend and am wanting to have a glass of wine or non-carbonated alcoholic beverage. I feel great, am losing but unsure of trying this. I am almost 2 months post op. Thoughts?.......Thanks!

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op

    Protein Drinks

I am drinking the Premier Protein premade from Costco. 11oz, 30 g protein and 160 cal, comes in choc and vanilla and also powder form. This has been the only one I can tolerate post op. Pre op I thought I would go with syntrax and unjury- tried both before surgery and loved them. Post op- hated them.
  8. Was is your average daily calorie intake at this point? Thx

    I am not losing

I know the feeling, had a week 2 stall that ended after 7 days and now almost 6 weeks and have been stalled now 8 days. Gets hard to stay positive.........
  10. Yep, for me the pre op diet was the hardest. Here's some tough love. Get your head around this now, you want to shrink your liver pre-op and have the best possible outcome for surgery and after. It's hard, it gets easier, you've got this. Try to picture self 6-8 months down the road. Don't let your head sabotage your success. It's still a head game post op as well. Good luck!!!
  11. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and am able to drink normally, I do get full sometimes and slow down but do not have to sip.

    Soft diet recipe suggestions

I just started on soft foods today and was also looking for something a little different. I found a recipe in Cooking Light that turned out to be delicious, very soft, able to mush it with a fork. I dont have the direct link to the site but you can Google it and it comes right up. It is called 'Diner Meat Loaf Muffins' from Cooking Light. The nutrition facts are good and the serving size is 2 muffins. Of course I could only eat 1 and made each of my muffins between 2 and 3 ounces. I hope you enjoy this recipe, let me know what you think!
  13. Mine was a week 2 stall. My last post was Wednesday in which I hadn't lost anything for 7 days. I didn't change anything up, just kept plugging along and I have lost a pound a day since Wednesday. The waiting game stinks but hang in there the stall wont last forever.

    Tell me your top 2

My little pillow I was given in recovery room and my nausea medicine-Zofran!
  15. I was told not to use a straw while drinking post op. Do you use a straw? Is this really something that should be avoided?
  16. Ok, thanks for the replies. I was a straw user because of very sensitive teeth. I'm not a rule breaker but wanted to find out others opinions as I would like to use a straw. I see MD tomorrow and will talk about it.
  17. I may just be freaking out but.....Today I am 2 weeks post-op. I feel great! I have been meeting my protein requirement of 70 grams per day, I am drinking Premeir Protein. I have been meeting or exceeding the 64 oz fluid requirement, I have not had any issues with drinking. I have not been eating much more, here and there I will have 2-4 TBSP of yogurt or cream soup 1 or 2 times a day but have not gone over the 4 TBSP. Sometimes I eat this, sometimes I dont. I am still on full liquids until Wednesday. I am averaging 400-500 calories per day. My Surgery wt wat 257.0, came home from the hospital at 265.0, lost the water weight and was back to 257.0 after a couple days. But.....I have been at 250.4 for the last 6 days. Not sure what I am doing wrong....not enough calories??? Is my body just adjusting?? Any thoughts or advice would be awsome..thanks!
  18. I am still on full liquids but if I have a cream soup or yogurt it probably takes me 10 minutes to get 3-4 tbsp down. I have not had any issues with drinking, that may change when I get to softer foods and start the 30-30 no drinking rule...
  19. Ok, thanks everyone ...,, I've been weighing daily. I'm putting the scale away!!! I will just keep truckin and wait for things to catch up! I appreciate the replies!!! Makes me feeling better ..
  20. lawree, I am curious as to how many calories you are getting in a day. I am 2 weeks out and only down 8 pounds. I have been getting my Protein and Water requirements in but only at about 400-500 calories per day. I have been at 250.2-250.4 for the last 6 days. So Im wondering if maybe I am not getting enough calories? Thanks! and congrats on your recovery, mine has been very smooth also!

3 days post op and tired

I was sleeved on 9/9 and what youre feeling is normal. Keep doing what youre doing. Sleep-to heal, get up hourly and walk around. Each day increase the amount of walking you are doing or maybe try sitting up in a chair a few times a day as opposed to being in bed. I used an adult 'sippy type cup' the first 4-5 days and even while I was lying in bed would keep it next to me to take sips from. The only thing that I could get down easily was water-cool. The fld intake will get easier and each day you will get stronger just dont slack on the walking. Today on day 10, I feel great! I am no longer on pain meds, Im doing light household chores and really feel almost 'normal'. You will get there too! Hang in there and happy healing. Stay positive. P.S. One day last week I sat outside for about 30 minutes in the zero gravity chair and soaked up some Vitamin D. I felt a little better getting fresh air. Just make sure it's not hot outside. Hope this helps!
  22. Sleeved on 9/9, have done well with recovery and have lost 17 pounds. Today, I am having a huge case of head hunger , having a difficult time distracting myself. Does this get better with advancement to pureed foods? I really am tired of full liquids. Could definately use words of encouragement on how to distract this head hunger. Thanks!
  23. Hi! I was sleeved on 9/9/13 and have been instructed by MD to take a chewable multivitamin daily. I am getting terrible nausea out 10 minutes after I chew the vitamin-to the point that I am almost vomiting. I am curious as to what everyone else is taking or any recommendations. I have always had a sensative stomach to vitamins but would like to find one that I can handle. Thanks!!!!
  24. Thanks everyone! My protein shake also has vitamins so I may hold off on the chewable for a bit. The nausea is really setting me back in the evenings.
