I'm keeping the surgery a secret at work as much as possible. I'm in management, and it's not really anyone's business. I didn't even tell my boss. I just submitted for vacation and left it at that. This past week people asked me what I was going to be doing on my vacation, and I told them I'm going to San Diego and Tj to have a bit of fun. I'm not taking but two days of PTO due to the holiday weekend, so it's not like I'm having to explain a long vacation. I did tell my HR manager just in case.

I'm here now. Surgery tomorrow. Anyone want to not eat together in the restaurant?

I'm flying in at 4pm, then going to my hotel. Then I'm considering a cab to the beach.

Which hotel are you staying at? I'm at the Marriott starting tomorrow.

How far from the beach is the Marriott? Anyone know what a cab ride would cost?

I'm sure you are over the moon! What a healthy med free life you can look forward to.

"This sh@# has just gotten real... I've purchased my plane tickets and deposit made...." HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! I said that exact same thing in here about two weeks ago. LOL. It just got more real yesterday as I started my pre-op diet.

So, I have my first NSV! I officially started my pre-op diet yesterday. I've really started my WL journey with the sleeve now. My surgery is on 8/31. I cleaned up the kitchen today, bought some groceries to see me through the pre-op and some of the post-op. I've also bathed the dogs so they can be clean at my friend's house while I'm away. I leave for the airport at 1:30pm on Friday. I'm excited. I also created my WL tracker. WOOT!

I'm going on Friday the 30th for surgery on the 31st. I'm staying down there until Wednesday the 4th.

Awesome to hear that you are doing well. Drains suck tho.

When are you going? I'm going alone, but I've traveled a lot. I'm not worried. However, I'm definitely NOT visiting the Texas boarder towns anytime soon. I've heard that Tj has cleaned up a lot since all the drs who rely on medical tourism went on strike. The city had to crack down and clean up. It's save now...as safe as any city is.

I was assuming there would be no extra costs. I'd like to hear from others.

I guess I'm not too worried about the coordinator. I speak spanish almost fluently, and I'm used to traveling alone around the world. I'm confident even if the coordinators fall through, I'll be fine. However, I'll give the coordinator and the company bad reviews. Also, with my traveling history, I'm not requiring much from them. I haven't heard from my coordinator since I paid the deposit and sent her my airline info. I'm totally okay with that. I'd be annoyed if she was checking in with me every day! I'd probably change companies if she was bothering me so much (I'm not much of a people person)!

I did tell my HR Manager just incase I do need to call in sick, but I'm not anticipating it.

I'm having surgery on 8/31 and will be back to work on 9/5. Alma said I should be fine as I have a desk job. Also, several peep I've talked to here went straight back to work with few problems.

I think it's time to jump. I'm going to book Dr. Garcia on 8/31. I'll fly out after work on Friday, and be back home Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll feel up to going back to work on Wednesday (I just sit at my desk all day). Total cost with Airfare will be less than $5100. I've heard only positive things about most of the Drs. so I'm sure any decision would be a good one.

It's 9:37pm my time and she is answering all my questions; I'm so happy! I can book Dr. Garcia for Saturday 8/31, work half a day on Friday 8/30, and be back at home that Tuesday! I'm excited!

Okay, so I've been trying to figure out who will be staying at the hotel with me over the Labor Day weekend. Roll call! I'll be there Sunday - Wednesday.
