  1. Oh, LV. Sounds like you're having a bad day... As for the 'I ate a cookie' post... I wouldn't say it sent me 'over the top'.. I don't believe this post is 'over-the-top'. It was the last in a string of posts that have made me groan. So i called it...
  2. LV - it's not combative. It's an observation of what gets on my nerves. As for your personal issues, please see above where I wrote: 'if you're having serious addiction issues - then that's a WHOLE different ball game and there's not a person on the planet that won't do all they can (within the limits of this medium and geography) to help.' With reference to: 'falling off of the wagon eating a carb laden food is the beginning of the end for some.. It's really hard to know by just reading a post and forming an opinion about it. ' It is easy to form an opinion when someone is whinging about one cracker and have form for attention-seeking whinging. If they said 'I have eaten a whole packet and keep going back for more', it changes the game. I'm sorry you have a food addition. As I said above, it's no picnic and there's not a person out there that wouldn't help. But I think it is very evident when people are being self-indulgent. Self-indulgent in their eating and self-indulgent in their coveting of sympathy on this website. As for 'having it all figured out'. As I said above: 'If you're clever enough to work out that these aren't good nutritional ratios, then you're smart enough to know that you shouldn't be eating it. ' If I recognise that is becoming tough for me to do - I'll be looking for psychotherapy. Not for platitudinal 'pats on the back' from unknowns...
  3. Many thanks, darlings. I just had to say it as it is... Super BonBon - My advice for your number 2 if anyone were silly enough to ask me, would be to 'go and have a number 2' Redbean - You're welcome to come and whine at me all you like! Just don't tell me you've eaten half a lettuce leaf and you're feeling 'guilty'!
  4. As Vicky said.. Get some orange juice in you and quick. Give it 15 minutes and if you still feel horrid, get on the phone to someone. x
  5. lol Yeah, all whist riding my bike naked, one-handed and singing the national anthem x
  6. Okay, I'm a fairy patient kind of girl. If i see someone in need, I will duly assist in any way possible. That is my nature. However, there are limits to this... Something is really getting on my proverbial mammary glands and I just have to put it out there... Before I 'go to town' on someone.... What am I referring to? The indomitable, self-indulgent, totally out of proportion whinging on this website. What kind of whinging, I hear you cry?! Well, it's not the general and often valid complaints, concerns and outpourings of confusion related to WLS. Which, lets face, it, we all have for time to time... Or even the posts that deviate from being WLS related and are either observations on life or genuine cries for help. It's the 'OMG, I ate some fresh air!!!!! <swing your head back whilst placing your wrist on your forehead in a swooning fashion> 'I am going to have to flagellate myself for the rest of my natural born life because I ate a cracker with cheese spread on it!' 'I ate a mouthful of cream-cheese frosting, I hate myself' - then cue the over-exaggerated 'depression' and attention-seeking mewing because someone, in a 'moment of madness' <raises an eyebrow> didn't reach for a Protein shake or Quest bar. Now, before I get lambasted for not being 'sympathetic' and being told in a lofty and self-righteous way that 'not everyone is as strong as other people and they just need some gentle encouragement'.. What I am going to say to that right now and up front is 'BALLS!' So someone ate something with 15g of carbs, 11g of sugar and little protein. SO WHAT?!!! If you're clever enough to work out that these aren't good nutritional ratios, then you're smart enough to know that you shouldn't be eating it. So get some perspective, be objective, dust yourself off and carry on. Don't take up my visual space with your whinges that do no more than to advertise your bordering on infantile attention seeking ways... If you make a habit of making bad food choices when you know the nutritional values - then frankly, you're an idiot. If you're having serious addiction issues - then that's a WHOLE different ball game and there's not a person on the planet that won't do all they can (within the limits of this medium and geography) to help. Just to those who want to curry sympathy and 'collect' platitudinous pats on the back for being self-indulgent whinge-bags - over very little - all I have to say is just hope I don't come across those particular posts. The response won't be pretty..... And for the smug ones who are undoubtedly going to say 'Well, you don't have to read them.. You can just skip past them..tra-la-la-la' I say BALLS to that too. Attention seekers have a habit of making their topic titles sound very 'life or death'. Having the concept of 'duty of care' bashed into my head for years, I feel obliged to read them. But no sooner do I get to the second sentence, I discover its been written by 'one of those types' and the rage subsequently builds... So my rant to 'those types' and in summary is; Do, please, and before I turn green, shut up!!! <and relax...>
  7. I feel for you, darlin'. You definitely need to reach out for some tangible and realistic support where you live. Firstly and as these good people above have stated - you need to go back to the people who supplied the surgical procedure in the first instance and ask them about bariatric support mechanisms. Secondly, go and see your local GP and in addition to getting a prescription; find out where local and free support groups for depression/anxiety are. You could even google it. A lot of these groups are often supported by local religious societies and are free. Once you find out where all the free support groups are, get yourself a little diary or create a timetable for the week and FILL IT with things to do. Even if it's a walk for an hour, a long bath, attendance at a group, attendance at a free lecture at your local library or university, go to a gallery? You need to be out and busy so you don't have to stare at your fridge and its contents. Maybe tell your partner what is going on and ask if he'd help you with it? Telling someone who is close to you, face to face, shares the burden and can make you feel lighter and more ready to face the task ahead. Besides, it's nice to have a partner in crime You're sounding like you're in the depths of a pretty hefty depression, my love and the only way you can climb out of those depths is to reach out. You've taken the first step by being honest on here and if we could, we'd all mobilise to assist in any way we could. However, this one you're going to have to take the first tentative steps in getting a grip of yourself. I'm not going to smother you with platitudes. You're cognizant of the downward spiral you've found yourself in and you've got clarity enough to be able to articulate it effectively. Sadly, you're going to have to grab the issue by the balls and talk to people who can actively help you... The first step has been recognising the situation and you have done that. Just a few more steps and you will make progress and the clouds will lift.. Promise. Hang on in there, honey x
  8. I am day 18. I have had.. (wait for it), a cupcake, half a cheese burger, two vodka water and apple-juices, 5 mini cocktail sausages, toast with ham and a very small slither of cake. Am i beating myself up over it? No. Should I have eaten these things? Probably not. Will the world stop revolving as I'm still under 700 calories a day? Definitely not. It's a cookie. I know you feel bad, but a little perspective is required here.... clamber back up on that wagon and keep pumpin' the protein. You'll forget it all in about, ooh, say, 20 minutes...
  9. Yep, I hear ya. 18 days out and I think I'd sell a kidney for a big bowl of crunchy mixed salad with grilled goats cheese and balsamic dressing!
  10. Aww, thank you, Taylokat. Sadly, my mother has every clue and the box they came in.... She be a very smart lady. Probably why my father felt so emasculated most of the time! Muahahahaha. His fault for being slow on the uptake and well, male
  11. Why, thank you, KrittyKratt! Although in fairness, I wasn't trying to be funny in that one. I was stating a fact. I am that sad and I am that cold!
  12. That is EXACTLY the excuse I've used to acquaintances where I am currently living (except the complications bit). When my mother arrives in a couple of months? (And I have to be careful here as she knows I already had my GB out in 2005) I shall be saying I have been diagnosed as having GERD and as a consequence; I can't eat bread, no carbonation, no beer, no wine, no fat, no sugar and have to eat small portions.. that kind of thing... which is why I have dropped some weight. Ta'daaa! The only fly in the ointment is the fact she's an ex nurse.... and hawk-eyed.... and super-clever... and.. my mother...
  13. The best of luck, Mich. It's gonna be one helluva ride - hold tight!
  14. Oh, don't get me started on the Bieber... His attendance at boxing fights, his spitting on his fans... His trousers down by his ankles and walking like some sort of deformed chimp... I wish he'd just do the world (or namely, me) a favour and just end it all in a cliched drug fueled orgy in an overly-priced hotel room with his homies and his hoes... <and breathe....>
  15. lol Well, if it was American X Factor, I'd probably be crying, having to suffer through Demi Lovato contributing absolutely NOTHING of value to well, anything. As it stands, it was UK X Factor and I was crying because this one guy sang so utterly beautifully (which is the bit that made me cry).. and then the short Irish midget Louie Walsh, decided to send him home - probably because he wasn't thin and like Justin Bieber (which then made me angry - because I absolutely loathe Justin, I need to be kicked repeatedly in the head, Bieber). Clearly I am more comfortable with the latter emotion than the former!
  16. I fanny around in war zones
  17. I have been reading some serious literature on this subject today. Not alot of it very positive. Apparently, after 1 year, some symptoms abate. Apparently, after 3 years, they can be eliminated. However, one article quoted 43% - yes, that's 43% - of people would all suffer GERD symptoms post VSG forever. The reason this happens? The way the incision and stapling is done. The angle of the food pouch, basically weakens the LES. Treatment options? PPI (which sometimes don't work and can mask erosion and can lead to malignancy). Botox injected into the valve itself (and only lasts three months). Electrical shock treatment (I kid you not) and an operation, which has very limited success. I have to say, if I'd known I'd have to deal with this, it could well have been a deal breaker... Anyone got any home-remedies or eating habit modifications they've made which have improved their symptoms?
  18. If it's anything like the UK's National Health Service - they will cover it, but you have to have some pretty major figures and co-morbidities for them to refer you. Then, of course, it's the HUGE waiting list game...
  19. Oh, I'm a pathetic, sodden-faced, snot-filled, gastric reflux infested mess at least once a day... I feel it well up. I am ashamed to say it, but the X Factor made me cry yesterday. If you knew what I did for a living, you would find that hysterically funny... In hindsight, I know I do...
  20. Dear All, Having been sleeved a whole 17 days, I have noticed a very nasty side effect to this surgery - Reflux. I have been given the PPI, avoid fatty/surgery foods, limit caffeine and chew like the proverbial cow chewing the cud. None of this seems to help things. If I'm gonna get taken out with it, I'm being taken out. On academic research, I have learnt that VSG increases the likelihood of GERD due to, in short and without doing the 'science bit', the Lower Esophageal Sphincter being weakened. Subsequently, all your gastric juices - PPI or not - jump above that valve and languish in your esophagus causing general discomfort, pain and misery. Consequently, what I'd like to ask all you good people, is a) have you had this (before or after surgery) b ) how did your surgeons/doctors deal with it c) have your symptoms improved with the surgery, weight loss, or just got worse over time? Any opinions, particularly from the long-term sufferers, are very much appreciated. x

  22. 'Discussing the topic', would surely have been the exploration as to why the OP had got into 'trouble' for going out against her partners wishes. Not, as engineered, an intricate analysis of the normative values associated with self-pleasure and a licentious declaration as to your own activities and preferences...

  24. Really? Mate, there are many things I could say to your last post. What I will say is T-M-I. If you're getting your crackers off by talking about it so much - you're clearly not getting it. Maybe you should hunt down a more subject appropriate website?
