  1. I have been thinking about my hair more and more lately since I am about to reach my 3 month mark since surgery in a couple of weeks. My hair is already thin and breaks pretty easy so I decided to take action. I spent some time yesterday looking for haircuts and found one I liked. Since I was very young, I always just trimmed my hair or cut several inches off at a time but always the same. This time I got a real haircut. It's shorter in the back, longer in the front and I got some bangs too. My neck feels a little naked but I like it! One of my friends told me this morning..."New weight, new hair...what's next, a convertible?" She cracks me up! She really liked my hair, said it made me look younger. My daughters made me laugh too. My oldest (8) said "Where did all your hair go?" and my youngest (6) said "I noticed your hair mom...". I was laughing at their reactions! After I fixed it though they both said I looked beautiful and they liked it. This feels like a good, positive change! Happy Monday everyone!

  2. And just in case that doesn't work either or it's too much trouble, here is the recipe:

    Ingredients:

    - 1 lb of Lean Ground Beef or Ground Turkey

    - 1 Large Green Pepper

    - 1 Large Red Pepper

    - Laughing Cow Light Swiss cheese Wedges

    - Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    - Romaine Lettuce Hearts

    Instructions:

    - Cook your pound of lean beef or turkey and season to taste.

    - Cut both large peppers into 10ths and saute in a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.

    - Take a romaine lettuce leaf and cut off about an inch of the harder part of the leaf (it doesn't fold well and your food will fall out.)

    - Open your laughing cow light swiss cheese wedge and spread it in the center of the romaine leaf.

    - Add 2 oz of your cooked meat

    - Add 1 strip of each of the peppers

    - Eat up!

  3. I went back to MyFitnessPal and did some research. Here is what I found when I searched for this problem in the Help database:

"Currently the "full-fledged" recipe sharing isn't a live feature on MFP..

what you CAN do is create the recipe in your account, log a serving of the recipe to your food diary, make sure your food diary is visible to friends and you're friends with the family you want to access it...

they come view YOUR diary from THEIR account and click "quick tools > copy to today" on the website.

On the iOS and Android apps you click the wrench / spanner in the header with the meal name > copy to today."

So, my user name there is the same as here "PhotoLover8". I made sure that my profile is visible to "everyone" so no one has problems looking at it. I hope this helps! Sorry, I didn't know this was an issue before I posted it.

  4. I just wanted to share a recipe that my husband and I did this week. He kept telling me that he had tried "Lettuce Wraps" a long time ago and liked them and we should try to make some. So we went to Sam's Club and picked up groceries and got the things we needed to make them. They turned out so good! I really like them and it's only 150 calories per wrap. If one is not filling enough for you (It is for me right now) then you can eat a second one and still get filled up on 300 calories! I added avocado the first time I made them and it was really good. That's not part of the recipe so you'd have to add the calories for that.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

  5. Good Morning all!

Yesterday when I got out of church I decided to take a picture with my husband since we both looked so nice. After looking at the picture some more, I realized that I had a picture in that same dress from before I had the surgery. I tracked down the picture and made a side by side comparison. I was already happy with how I look but seeing the before and after got me even more excited! I'm so grateful for this surgery and what it is doing to my life! I am so much more confident now and I'm still in the beginning stages of my journey. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the new me! :D

  6. I had surgery 7 weeks ago and have lost 36 lbs. I have been blessed to not have any negative comments. The best compliments I have gotten:

"I'm so proud of you!" ~ My amazing husband!

"My wife is hot!!" ~ From my awesome husband while I've worn a nice dress or basketball shorts and a shirt. He always called me beautiful and complimented me but because I am gaining more confidence and letting it show I think he feels more free to make a comment like that and know that I will receive it in a positive way and believe him.

"Skinny Mini!" ~ From a number of people at my church.

"How is my favorite skinny Puerto Rican?" ~ From my neighbor Joe. He always called me his favorite Puerto Rican (Though I'm pretty sure I'm the only Puerto Rican he knows!!) but he added the skinny on there recently.

  7. I had my surgery on July 26th. I had all those feelings and emotions too. I pray and it definitely makes a difference for me! Now, make sure that when they are doing all of the pre-op tests and questions that you are honest about everything. Make sure you really think about your answers and don't leave anything out..even if you don't think it matters. That way all of you bases are covered.

Also, when you talk to the anesthesiologist make sure that you ask him all the questions you are thinking about. I had seen in one episode of Grey's Anatomy that a patient woke up in the middle of the surgery and also another when a patient was paralyzed but could feel what was happening. The anesthesiologist assured me that in his career he has never seen anything like that. That they have all sorts of safety measures in place and that's why they monitor all of your stats while you are having your surgery. I felt a little silly making comments about a TV show but it was on my mind so I said it to him and he answered my questions. I felt better. So just be honest and say what's on your mind! You are all going to do great!

  8. One Protein Shake with virtually no after taste that I found was "Core Power". I tried the vanilla flavor. The shake is very simple in its taste which I like because some others feel like there's just so much stuff in them. I found it in a convenience store but have not found it in a store to buy yet. I looked up the price online and found it on Amazon...it's just a little pricey. It'll depend if you can afford it but it is good!
