I have been overweight my whole life. Of course, like most, I have tried every diet known to "man"; with little or no success. The successes I did have were very temporary. My life was one huge, miserable yoyo. In 2006, I found Delmarva Bariatric and went through the program to obtain the Lap Band. I had Lap Band surgery in October 2006 and life was wonderful for a number of months - probably about a year; but the more weight I lost and the more adjustments that were made to my band; it malfunctioned. The surgeon that did my surgery left the practice and I the new surgeon was my current surgeon - Dr. Daniel McCullough. He is a lifesaver. He kept working with me. He informed me that the band used by the previous surgeon was the smallest one made and one that he and the other surgeon in the practice never used due to the size and difficulty in adjusting. We continued trying adjustments as I was not wanting another surgery; however, after giving up on the band and researching the newer VSG surgery (I didn't want any part of gastric bypass - too many issues of malabsorption, etc. following surgery), we decided to go in that direction. So happy I did. I'm happy to be on the post-surgery side and moving toward a happy, healthy, non-obese future.
