    Hello everyone,
I am a 33 year old mother of 2 living in FL. I have been watching so many Post Op videos on YouTube and reading a lot about the sleeve. I am so eager to have this done... I am ready to be healthy, be happy and enjoy life. I have UHC .. I collected all my doctor monitored weight loss attempts these past few years and also weight watchers weight loss sticker booklet. I really hope this will cover the physician supervised diet requirement. I have my first appointment with my surgeon Aug 26th.. it so far away I was told they will contact me if someone cancels their appointment to get me in before Aug 26th.. I really hope someone cancels. I want to get to the approval process already.
I do have a question... Has anyone lost their hair? if so .. when did it start and when did it stop.. I am terrified

First of all, WELCOME! Since your appointment is a little while off, have you contacted your insurance company to make sure that the things you have collected to prove your weight loss attempts will be sufficient, along with any other things you may be required to do? Then when you have your appointment you will know for sure exactly what your requirements will be.
And I have lost hair, not bad, but I can tell when I wash my hair, a few pieces will come out in the wash.
    Good Luck!!

    Lol, don!
Anyway, ive not heard of anyone losing all their hair...just that it thins out. That is why Protein is soooo important to get in first. I also take Biotin. I started before tje surgery and noticed my hair and nails getting stronger. Now I am about 6weeks out and my hair is starting to weaken because I struggle with Protein intake.
Keep in mind, there seem to be just as many who have not experienced this with their hair. We are all made differently. Just go with the flow and realize that it may be a temporary by hurdle as you lose the weight.
Dont stress so much! That makes hair fall out too.

What I have found extremely helpful is to follow your doctor's instructions to a "T"...I don't know if it is that I am just scared that something bad (physically) will happen if I don't or what, but it has helped me tremendously.
    Good Luck!!

I think the most important thing you can do to avoid complications is make sure you have the right surgeon. Is their practice a bariatric center of excellence? Has the surgeon done at least a couple hundred sleeve surgeries? What is his/her complication rate (leaks, blood clots, stricture, etc.)?
also: follow your surgeon's instructions with respect to pre-op and post-op diet precisely. If you have questions about the diet or any symptom you might be having, call and ask for help, don't be embarrassed and decide to wait to see if it resolves on its own. That is what you are paying them for.
Blood clots are a risk after this (any) surgery: get up and walk as soon as you can after, and if you are provided with something like compression booties in the hospital, use them as directed, even if it's a PITA.
If you are given restrictions on how much you can lift after surgery, follow them: no cheating and lifting up a toddler/young child if not permitted, no deciding to carry the heavy groceries in yourself because it's too much of a pain to get your husband/children to bring them in, and so on.
If you are a smoker, you will definitely need to quit well in advance of surgery.
These are all the things that our RD and NP stressed to those of us in my WLS Boot Camp that we all had to go to before surgery. Except the picking the right surgeon, of course! That I picked up here on the boards
    Good luck to you!

Welcome, good to have you here!
I lost all my hair in the shower on Sunday - took me about 7 minutes with a Gillette fusion razor.
