    Quick question about hair loss

I lost hair from month 6 through about 12. It was mostly back within a few months. (4 years post op)

    Craving Solutions

Arnold palmer zero is my go to for summer drink when I'm dying for a coke. And it's non-carbonated so I don't end up with a tummy ache.
  3. I am 4 years out and I find that the air I swallow when using a straw appears to allow me to eat more. I go in phases where I am really into straws so weaning off is hard but I am definitely affected by it as far as stomach capacity. Never had pain per say but if you can stay clear I would. The effects of the straw on stomach capacity appear to last for many hours afterward. I don't know that it has stretched my sleeve permanently as I still have good restricting when I follow the rules( no straw, don't drink and eat, hard protein first). Best of luck!
  4. You really have to decide for yourself as its a very personal choice. I have a sleeve and I love it! It takes zero maintenance and 4 years out I live a normal life! I have made many friends on my weight loss journey and still have yet to meet a band success story. My surgeon Dr. Alvarez (at the time of my operation) was doing the sleeve and revision from band and it was a major part of his practice. Talk talk talk is my recommendation the decision is such a scary part of the process but I can tell you it is so worth it. Sounds cliche but it really is the greatest thing I have ever done for myself and I haven't regretted a single day! Wishing you the best!

    Traveling with the Sleeve

I would prep protein shakes in ziplock bags for each day then pack them in a shaker bottle. Would also pack high quality protein bars in my suitcase. Continental breakfast is often very carb heavy but fruit, coffee and a protein is usually available. I used to spend 2-3 nights per week in a hotel so it becomes impairs rice to build a routine for yourself. Always took workout clothes because if nothing else you can run the stairs or jog locally. Darn auto correct should say it becomes imperative

    Breastfeeding 2 years post op

I found about a month after delivery my sleeve was tightening again. The same pregnancy hormones responsible for your digestive tract slowing down (hence the complaint of constipation and hemmeroids) also seems the loosen the capacity of the sleeve. Once my baby started to wean I got more restriction back. She will be 2 on Monday and my capacity is just about 3-4 oz again.

  14. All whey and Ceisian based proteins did that to me I like pea, hemp, soy...I usually go with anything marked vegan because they like to sneak whey into everything.

Trying to Learn When I'm full

Ok I had forgotten about this problem (I'm a few years out now) with the food getting cold. 2suggestions 1. Whenever possible eat out of a small bowl to help the food stay warmer or 2. Get an electric cup warmer and set your bowl/little plate on it. Worked like a charm.

    Ladies Question

I had it happen and they had me switch to a pad. I warned them it might not *ahem* contain the flow and they said no worries you will be up and moving soon and put extra chucks pad on the bed. No probs nurses are wonderful!

    I gained weight !

Don't panic! Breathe and know that your body knows what it's doing. If you are following your post op instructions you should be fine. Sometimes your body will freak out and store a little more water or apparently build up some weight but then plummet to a new low. Stay focused. Protein, protein, protein!

    Diet plan

Join my fitness pal and you can look at the food journals of tons of sleevers. There are multiple threads going currently with people sharing their usernames. Mfp is an app or use the website and its totally free. I'm not a great example because I'm 2+ years out and nursing a baby so I get a ton of calories but my username is Hollyoosa on there too
  19. Several reasons: the liquid triggers the pyloric valve which makes your stomach empty faster thus making room for more food, it helps digest hard Protein faster thus defeating the point if the sleeve and gradually over time it can stretch the stomach a bit. Best example I can think if is that old science experiment of what can I put in this jar? Fill the jar to the top with rocks and it is full, except you can still add sand, after the sand reaches the top the jar is full, except you can still add Water.... Scary stuff when you have gone though major surgery to have a tiny tummy that fills up fast. I had surgery April 2011 and I can tell ya drinking with meals is the key to slowing down your loss or even gaining. I have a few times over the years done it to be able to eat more or to look "normal" at a Restaurant in the beginning. It's a slippery slope

Help i have stopped losing weight

I just started with the fitbit flex too( don't mean to jack the thread but...) heads up it won't track steps when your wrist is parallel to the floor ie pushing a stroller or cart. And too much vibration will put it in sleep mode ie stroller on bumpy pavement. I was so flaming mad after a 2 mile walk with the stroller that didn't register. Now I just take it off and put it in my pocket for stroller walks and it works fine

    Peanut butter?

Amy920 great call on the cashews they are awesome!!!! Trader joe's used to sell a pb2 like product which was simply labeled "defatted peanut flour" but u can't buy it in many stores any more because of allergic sensitivities. I have heard within the last year that some stores on the east coast sell it.

    Worst Case Scenarios

Don't forget the sharts! Not to be crass but seriously the first few weeks do not pass gas unless you are already on the potty. I realize this is a worst case list but know that the almost daily joy of shrinking, lowering medications, gaining mobility and reduction of pain are a huge part of the picture too!
