    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Down another 2 pounds this week to 240. All of the holiday goodies are very tempting, but I am staying on track...need to meet my goal! Have a great week, everyone!

    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Down 2 from last week...currently at 242. I keep wanting to "munch" but I think this challenge will help keep me in check throughout the holiday binging season!

    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Thanks SO VERY MUCH for doing this for us! It keeps me on track. My current weight is 244 and I am aiming for 232.
  5. I went to Applebees and ordered a 550 calorie meal. It ended up being 3 meals for me....loved it!

    Thanksgiving Challenge

LOST 2 MORE POUNDS...WHEW! I was a little worried that the scale was not moving all week (yes, i obsessively weighed myself almost everyday...bad, bad) but I resisted the urge yesterday and was pleasantly surprised today! Good luck to everyone! One more week until Thanksgiving....we CAN do this! BTW...the last pound I lost moved me from the extreme obese to just plain ol' obese category on the BMI chart...good stuff!
  7. I went to see my surgeon for a check up (almost 3 mo. post op) and he told me NOT to drink any calories....no Protein shakes, no smoothies!! I have never been a Breakfast eater and have been having a power smoothie EVERY morning since surgery. I have to admit, I really like them. I still don't feel like I can eat first thing in the morning and eggs are a food I just can't tolerate since surgery. Any suggestions as to what all of you are trying??? Does anyone know why liquid calories are a no-no? I had a great little routine going...time to find a new one

    August sleevers progress

It has been 3 months since being sleeved and I am down 48 since surgery and 68 overall!!! SOOO excited! I have another 6 weeks until I see my family (none of them know of my surgery or that I am even losing weight) and I can't wait to surprise them! I am loving this journey so far!!!!
  10. I told very few people...my husband, my in laws and a friend who has had surgery. I didn't even tell my children, who are all teenagers (long story...just didn't want to put them in the middle of it) We all have very different reasons for our approach to this topic. At 3 months post-op and 65 pounds lost pre and post op, people are starting to notice. Most just say that they notice I have lost weight and are complimentary. I reply that losing weight is hard work, but I realized it was necessary. If they do ask how (and very few have), I just say I am eating better and exercising. A few even join me for walks now!!! For the first time in my life I am doing something for ME and I don't want others to question or second guess me. I am loving this journey!
  11. I am going to do as my Dr. Says and try it out....thanks for the support! I lost 20 pounds the first month, 16 the second month and will be around 10 the third month. The shake was my breakfast, but he said I need to take advantage of the first six months. If I don't see great results in the next few months, I will discuss it with him and go from there. I will just keep doing my best.....

    Thanksgiving Challenge

Only down 1 pound this week to 253 I worked my butt off, but down one is better than up one!
  14. This past week, I was a little frustrated with my recent progress. I was "venting" to my husband and he simply asked if I regretted having WLS. I instantaneoulsy answered "NO!!!" It was then that I decided I would start a list of all of the "little things" that I love about the new and ever improving ME! Even though my current weight after losing 60+ pounds is more than the starting weight of some, I do have lots of "little things". 1. I don't have to get a bouncing start to bend over to pick something up off of the floor...I can reach! 2. My knees don't ache. 3. I don't have to suck in my gut to get my pants zipped. 4. I am more energetic and active....I participate instead of watch. 5. I am eating better and feel better. 6. I am actually looking forward to shopping and pampering myself when I get closer to my goal. 7. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that when I do overindulge and have a little moment of weakness, my sleeve gives me a little reminder of when to stop (no more binge eating for me!) There are SO MANY more, but this is a start! What about you? What are some of the little things you love about your sleeve? I am going to keep a running list to help serve as a reminder when I am having "one of those days"......

    Thanksgiving Challenge

YES! I want to do this, too! Start weight 254 Thanksgiving goal weight 244
  16. You look fantastic! I love seeing the great progress everyone is making! I, too, am thankful that I finally admitted I needed some help on this journey...loving it!
  17. First, let me say that I am extremely grateful to my new sleeve for giving me a chance at controlling my weight. Yet, I feel all I do is time out my day...water, protein, water, protein.....repeat, repeat, repeat. I seem to get both in about 4-5 days a week but just can't make it all 7 days. I am 11 weeks post-op and I guess I figured it would get easier. I am a teacher and don't always have the time to get water in when I teach for 4 hours before my first break. It is something I need to learn to deal with better. I have seen great results...44 pounds lost post-op and 64 pounds overall. I would gladly welcome any secrets any of you may have.

    I am owned....UUUGGGG!

Oh...I do keep a bottle at my desk, but I never sit down. I work with special needs students and we are always engaged in an activity. I am going to start setting a timer to remind me to stop and drink a few sips. By no means is this the end of the world...I just need to get it all figured out. Having one of those days, but it will be fine: )

    Having second thoughts...

I think most of us have had this same thought (many, many times)! Simply weigh the options and make the choice that is best for YOU. I know that I was doing so well on my 4 week pre-op protein shake diet and almost called and cancelled my surgery. My surgery was 11 weeks ago and I am so thankful that I went through with it. There are days that I get frustrated but the results are amazing. I feel better than ever....and I can't wait for all of the fun activities I can be involved in next summer. No more watchiing from the sidelines for me! Good luck and have faith in your decision!

  21. susan6161

    Huh....I really AM getting smaller!

You look great! I feel relieved that I am not the ONLY one who was in denial about my actual size!!!! I finally ditched my super tight 22's for a proper fitting 20!!!

    August sleevers progress

4 weeks Pre-op (7/17/13)=317 Surgery Date (8/13/13)=297 4 weeks Post-op (9/12/12)=277 almost 8 weeks Post-op (10/7/13)=264 DOWN A TOTAL OF 53 POUNDS (33 since surgery) At times I get discouraged and wish it would all just "melt" right off, but then I realize that I have averaged losing nearly 4.5# per week....not too shabby! I met my 50 pound weight loss goal a month early and am hoping to be at a total loss of 75 pounds by Christmas!!
  23. susan6161

    Down 105.4!

Amazing and inspiring! You look fanstastic!
  24. Ten years (yes, ten years ago) I started researching weight loss surgery! I finally decided to proceed and was approved in June. In mid-July I started a 4 week pre-op diet where I lost 20 pounds. A few days before surgery I started doubting my decision...was this too drastic?...would I be successful?...would I be able to handle this?...what if something went wrong?...should I give dieting ONE MORE TRY? Thank goodness I did it! I am now 6 weeks post op and am down a total of FIFTY POUNDS!! Am I excited? Heck yes! I set a goal to lose 50 pounds by my birthday in November and reached it 5 weeks early. My next goal is to be down 75 pounds by Christmas. I did not tell my parents about my surgery and can't wait to surprise them when we go to visit. I am so glad that I finally decided to do this and now I keep wondering why I waited so long! What WAS I thinking? Better late than never. Good luck to all sleeevers---your stories are inspiring!

    What was I thinking?

I have five children and didn't tell them what I had done until after I had surgery. (They thought I went to a workshop). I didn't want to worry them, so I understand,LBD! Good luck to those of you having surgery soon. Some days are difficult, but the results are well worth it!
