  1. I hope my weight is doing this I decided not to weight myself until Sunday because I have been on and off that scale just about everyday, and the number is really going no where. I will wake up loosing ounces then they increase and I'm just tired of feeling like I'm stuck to the scale. I feel good, and my clothes are looser. I'm going to try and relax this weekend. I have been on a stall for about 2 weeks now I believe.

  2. I thought I would have problems leaving sodas alone but it never bothered me. I'm glad I haven't had any caffeine since my pre op and I quit sodas once for over 4 years so it can be done. The good thing about the pre op diet is that if you follow it majority of your cravings are gone after the 2 weeks. I drink crystal light, and Walmart great value brands and there ok but I do get tired and switch them out or go back to Powerade zero. However I have found that if you put ice in your drinks it goes down smooth. I found this out when I decided to have a strawberitta a while back. My wife still likes to drink diet AW root beer on ice,for some reason giving up soda is not her thing.

  3. My body retains a lot of Fluid for some reason as well. I find even when I don't drink much Water I'm still loaded with fluids. I don't know why my body retains so much fluid, prior to being sleeved I had to always pie multiple times a day,and at time sit seemed I was going like 3 times in a hour and a half. 3 months is along time to go and not see any results. I hope you are able to loose more soon.

  4. I think you may want to do more cardio to help with such a small amount to loose and lower your carb intake. I think my body at times refuses to drop weight when I have to many carbs in my system. I have noticed that carbs do keep me feeling fuller at times. I also noticed that I feel like certain foods stick to my sleeve (maybe its in my head). If you can try walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day at a 10% incline to see if you can burn enough calories over a period of a couple of weeks.

  5. Really all you can do is wait, that s what really sucks. At least you have several good points that are working in your favor. Hopefully the ball will start rolling for you very soon. Sometimes waiting can be a good thing. If you are at the end of hoops you should have good news. Keep us informed. I was tired of waiting and as my surgery date approached I was still tired. I feel that it happen at the right time. Now the wait for surgery is over and the weight loss wait begins.

  6. I'm half and half. For the most part, I try to eat a balanced diet. I still will eat pizza, chips, ice cream, etc but don't make it an everyday thing. I've lost 100 pounds in 10 months without being obsessive about eating healthy. It's something I can do forever and with great results so far. I am active though. Not an exercise fanatic, but I park in the back of the parking lot, take the stairs, do a work out 3-4 times a week, etc.

What is an example of how many times a week you would have comfort food like pizza's and such ? That's amazing 100 pounds in 10 months.

  7. I'm all about being honest: Since we're traveling in a different state right now, in the past week I've eaten:

*a cheeseburger from In and out Burger (took me all day to nibble on 1)

    * a fish taco (1) from Del Taco

    *Homemade beef stroganoff

*Chili cheese fries from Carls Jr (about 1/5th - can't reheat fries so the rest went in the trash)

    *a homemade grilled cheese sandwich

    * a chicken buritto bowl from Chipotle (still eating the leftovers 3 days later)

Tonite I'm actually having grilled tilapia and fresh asparagus. Gotta have a healthy meal in there somewhere. I'm of the school of thought that I can eat whatever I want just in really small portions. It worked with my lapband (lost 104 lbs) till it slipped. I'm losing slowly (20 lbs in 8 weeks) and I could be losing faster but hey, I fit into Old Navy size 6 skinny jeans last week and if I want a Del Taco fish taco then by God I'm gunna have 1. Just 1.

    Just being honest...

(which I doubt all posters on this board all the time are..I mean we had surgery on our stomachs, not our heads)

Thanks for sharing your honesty is exactly what I needed to read. It just proves that no matter what we do or how we do it you can still maintain a comfortable lifestyle with food. No reason to be ashamed at all.

  8. Wow, thanks for the responses. Lipstick Lady to answer your question I had this surgery to be healthier, to look good, and to limit my food intake because of emotional eating, and years of being an expert dieter. I know know that the right tools are in my hands and its going to take my motivation to ensure that I'm eating the right foods to ensure a successful healthy lifestyle. To be honest I'm still having days were I'm waiting to wake up and feel like ok this is not working no matter what I do, so where do I go from here? I do want to enjoy the foods I want, and not worry that I 'm going to always over do it or have to limit myself to just one type of food(s). I know to be successful I still have to have those days were I eat a normal portion of something I absolutely love. I don't have any cravings right now but I'm 6 weeks out (its still early) . I'm very fearful of my long journey because I see several people that I personally know that have had the sleeve and all are gaining weight back after their 2 year mark. I don't want this to be me. I don't want to go anywhere near 300 lbs again. I do want to be fit looking and healthy. Overall I do not want to live a life in fear of the scale or food, lets face it that's why a lot of us have become overweight in the first place. I constantly see people looking at me now that are always checking me out every time they see me to say nice things, and I know some may be looking and waiting until I come back and all that weight comes with me, just so they can say negative things about what I have done. I realize the last comment may be a bit much , but a lot of people just wait to say negative things when your heading down.

I just had to ask this question because food should not be a stand off, instead in fact it shouldn't even be this hard but it is. I'm going to do my best not to let me down. I struggle to keep my head in the game of just being happy and avoid old habits.

  9. When I was post op I used to drink sugar free redbulls everyday just because I could. I don't think they even worked anymore. I used to drink them before workouts and they didn't push me to go harder or help increase my time spent in the gym. I often would become a zombie get sleepy and then wanted to take a nap. I don't miss them at all. Good for you on taking it one vice at atime. You will do great.....

  10. Lots of people on here will say its only gas but I have had hunger pains from the beginning. I'm a year out and I've lost 165 pounds. When I haven't ate for a few hours yes my stomach growls but after a few bites I'm full. So don't let it worry you because it hasn't affected my weight loss at all.

I'm 6 weeks out and my stomach growls after I eat a few bites I'm good to go. I eat more frequent now than I did post op.

  11. I am 6 months out and I haven't changed what I eat. I make sure that I get my Protein in first then I feel I am free to eat what I want. I do not have hunger so if I got all my Protein in by my afternoon snack and still have 500-600 calories left (I shoot for 1200 but some days that is difficult to reach) I will have a handful of chips, a cookie or two or an ice cream. I still make the same dinners, only difference is i eat a half cup of food vs an entire heaping plate of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. For me, I didn't become over weight by the types of food I ate but by the quantity of food I ate. I now will have a handful of chips instead of the entire bag or a small slice of cake vs half of cake. I didn't have this surgery to be thin, I had it to get healthy. I have lost 85 lbs with 10-15 lbs left to loose, all in 6 months. I try to get in exercise but I am not consistent. I feel this surgery has worked for me because I am physically un-able to gorge.... my stomach let's me know when I am done and if I even try to sneak an extra bite in I am a lot of pain for about a half hour!!! Sooo not worth it to try one last bite!!!!

Thanks , its good to hear that just being normal and not making drastic changes works as well. I think a lot of us stress over a bunch of various things. I know my wife eat slike you do not really strict on what she eats but monitors her portions. I found out last week how importantit is to listen to my body. I had to make myself vomit becaus eteh pain was so bad I felt liek crap. Felt better after my throat was clear. Anyone else care to share.

  12. I was sleeved on March 25, 2013. So far I have lost 45 pounds. I am very happy with it so far and hope to lose another 55 to reach my ultimate goal.

I went to see my surgeon for my three month check up. He was happy with my loss but very disappointed in my exercise. I told him I was going for 60-90 minute walks about 4-5 times a week. He said, "Walking is activity, it is not exercise. You need to get your heart rate up higher."

Ok, fine. He is right, I know. But ever since he said that I feel as if walking just isn't good enough and I gave up completely doing it. Now I do nothing. Its like if its not good enough then why even try. I feel guilty and ashamed of myself but its almost as if why do it if it doesn't count. I cant get myself to workout in the gym, despite a high monthly fee and prepaid personal training sessions. I just lack any motivation now.

How do you get back on track? What worked for you? What kind of exercise do you do? I need a swift kick in the rear I think!! I want to tone up but Im afraid of failing. Im afraid of being sore. Hell, I may even be afraid of succeeding.

I think your Dr was not being supportive of what you are doing. Now you are doing nothing because your feeling like your not good enough to succeed. Truth is from my own personal experience with weight loss pre sleeve exercise and weight training worked only when I was able to get my metabolism boosted. Once that happen for me my body was like a weight dropping machine. After exercise For the longest I would eat grilled chicken and Bush's fat free Beans through out the day for meals, and the occasional high calorie meal once a week. I dropped a pound everyday for quite some time. I only wish that I still had that old me back where I was athletic and felt super human at times. I lost 94 lbs, I was on top of the world. I just did a variety of exercises. I never did anything that was too strenuous I would walk 26 laps in the gym to equal a mile, I would play solo basketball, and lift up to 120 pounds on the bench mixed with dumbbells. I did this for 4 days a week for a total of 10 months, and I was very happy with the results, I just couldn't keep it off. My point to you is find a routine that suit syou as long as your staying active your doing a lot better than just sitting there waiting for something to happen. Not all doctors are created equal, (: just my opinion........

  13. I’m just wondering is there anyone out there that never watches what they eat since they have had the sleeve, and their weight loss is more than a friend or family member that may be working out? Is there anyone who is losing more weight than someone that really does watch what they eat and their calories intake? I’m just wondering because like many I’m waiting on my body to let go of this fat I have been storing up (back on the weight stall). I see a lot of people that work out and they look great, and I see others that have just not had any results that they are proud of. So is there anyone out there that just doesn’t care how they eat, or drink and you are losing weight more than someone who does? Anything is possible. Let me know just be honest .

  14. I tell anyone that will listen, most of people know that I did and I'm not ashamed of my sleev, my boss ,and coworkers have all had it so we just compare our surgery stories, and have a great time.
