Got my pre surgery mani/pedi & eyebrow wax. Going to watch a tennis tournament tonight. A day in the country with friends planned for tomorrow. Then heading to Houston on Sunday. Aaaahhhhh...excited/terrified!

    August 6'ers?

I'm not having trouble getting them in. I need to get an itty bitty spoon though.

    August 6'ers?

I'm freaking out too...seems like every day now there's someone with a story about a several month long hospital stay due to leaks and complications. Makes me very nervous!

    TODAY is the day!

    Good luck! I'm stalled out on pre-op too (600 cal a day & 70 g pro).

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

Thanks! I am self pay, so I was able to choose the surgeon I wanted and didn't have to wait on insurance.

    LIQUID DIET SUCKS!

[quote name=holidayexpressions' timestamp='1375441120' post='933300] Well day two of the liquid diet. Day 1 sucked beyond belief. Was fine until about 6pm last night. Had the worst migraine ever so that was no fun. Up at 5:45 to go to work for a 24 hour shift. We will see how this goes.... . 24 hour shift on day two....that doesn't sound good!

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

I am having single incision surgery on August 6th. I chose my surgeon specifically because he does this procedure. If you'd like, you can message me and I'll let you know how it goes.

    LIQUID DIET SUCKS!

[quote name=holidayexpressions' timestamp='1375372923' post='932166] I was told just do Water and yogurt for 3 days prior to surgery. So am I insane for starting the 14 day liquid diet like everyone else??? Figured I might as well get a head start and get use to the diet for post op. Today is day 1, lets see how this goes. I did low carb for a week before the 2 week liquid diet. I wanted as much weight off as possible before surgery.
  11. I'm taking the Iron supplement separately.
  12. I was told to take mine before going to bed at night to avoid this problem.

    Aug 6

I'm also having surgery August 6th. And yes all these things are running through my mind too. I'm glad I've told several people I am having the surgery, because I feel like I might chicken out otherwise. I haven't been hungry, but I still want food. I need to find a new hobby!

    August 6'ers?

The lasagne wonton cupcakes are good...I've had them before when I did weight watchers.

    August 6'ers?

One week to go and worried about leaks, infections, dehydration, etc. I keep thinking, maybe if you tried one last time to lose weight you would be successful. In reality, I haven't been successful in keeping my weight down for the last 20 years. I'm glad I've told lots of people about having this surgery, because I feel like I might chicken out otherwise. My brain is my worst enemy!

    LIQUID DIET SUCKS!

I'm using different flavor extracts for a variety of flavors in my protein drinks...caramel, almond, rum, coconut, banana, orange & peanut butter.

    August 6'ers?

EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control from Walmart are good (17 pro, 2.5 carb, 100 cal), Isopure ready to drink from GNC are ok, but they don't keep me "full" (40 pro, 0 carb, 160 cal). Celebrate Vitamins ENS are good (25 pro, 10 carb, 150 cal). Good luck!

    LIQUID DIET SUCKS!

Sorry you are having to do such a limited diet! I live in Tulsa and it makes me glad I am going to Houston to have surgery (and have a more liberal pre-op plan!). My best advice is to stay busy and out of the house. It amazes me that they have you on such a low protein drink and won't let you have low sodium broth. The broth is a clear liquid with 5-10 cals per cup and no carbs. If the point of the pre-op diet is ketosis, you would think that they would pick more high protein, nutritional drinks. BTW your puppy is cute!

    Houston tx?

I'm having surgery with Dr. Yu on August 6th. Excited and nervous! My surgery will be at Victory.

    Any Oklahoma Sleevers

I've started my pre-op diet and will be having surgery in Houston on August 6th.

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

I'm traveling out of town for surgery, but have picked up some frozen dinners from Dinner's at 6 for my family to eat. I'm not cooking anything on the pre-op diet that I like because it's too tempting!

    August 6'ers?

I had a blue raspberry Isopure drink today that was pretty good and a change from the shakes. 40 grams of protein, 160 calories & no carbs. But I really want a hamburger patty with some mayo. I guess I will have beef broth for dinner and pretend. I think part of my food issues have to do with wanting something "exciting" to eat. I really miss the savory, salty foods. I'm not hungry, but I still want them!

    ANY SINGLE INCISION SLEEVER'S?

My doctor travels around the country training people on the single incision technique. Some doctors do not want to invest in the specialized equipment or bother learning new techniques when most patients are satisfied with traditional laparoscopic surgery and that is what most insurance pays for. My husband, who is a surgeon, did not express any extra concern over using this technique. He said that they are doing this with many other types of abdominal surgeries. On the upside, there is a better cosmetic result, shorter healing time and fewer incisions that could become infected. On the downside, I won't have a local support group. I will stay in Houston for a week following surgery to make sure there are no complications before returning home. So there is also the extra cost of hotel accommodations for the week. I am glad to have this option, and for me it was the one of the factors in deciding to have gastric sleeve at all.
