    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Ty Wombat, I just got home from barium swallow test and it showed a narrowing right at the point of food going down. He said he sees the liquid getting caught up, so he's going to send results to my doc bc he says I need to be scoped and possibly dilation bc my foods and liquids should not still b getting caught up and choking me. He said its pretty tight. I'm glad to know that something can b done about it now, perhaps I'll start to enjoy my journey... most of all, ty for ur concern:))) Deez, I'm so glad that they found the reason for your issues...and yes, it will be wonderful to have some resolution (and hopefully some relief). I'm praying for you and look forward to no more restriction!

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Happy Sunday (weigh in day for many), and happy March to everyone! It's hard to believe that spring is around the corner (doesn't feel like it in my neck of the woods with 50 below wind chills). Everyone is doing such a great job of posting their numbers, and I appreciate that. When I post the weekly numbers tomorrow, we should have a much better percentage, as I have moved more 'non-posters' over to the inactive list. This will lower our total pounds lost goal, but increase our percentage of pounds lost towards the goal! Keep up the great work, and I'll post our wonderful numbers tomorrow afternoon!
  8. Was restricted to 20 lb lifting limit for the first 6 weeks. Didn't lift anything until that 6 week appointment when I was released.

One of the 'concerns' my surgeons office talked about was grazing...they strongly, STRONGLY advise against it. I was told that it should be 3 meals and maybe 2 snacks. I usually do the three meals and one snack, and get in between 700-800 calories and have upped the protein to at least 80g. I think you run the risk of overheating if you are just grazing throughout the day...so in my opinion, I would definitely caution against it.

I can understand you feeling frustrated. I'm not quite sure what your NUT is smoking...but it's obviously affecting her thinking...it's absolutely INSANE to have those kinds of restrictions on your meals for the day....they have pounded in my head time after time 3 meals, and one to two snacks a day. I know the yogurt you are using...I use that as well, and that is probably the best yogurt you can get. You absolutely HAVE to get fiber into your diet...water will NOT do it....I'm not a NUT, but I'm also not an idiot...you have to have fiber. I use Benefiber in my protein shakes in the morning, I also take Fiber gummies, and I love my Quest bars (they have 17-18 grams of fiber in them. Is it possible to switch to a different NUT? I honestly feel like you are not being given the correct (or safe) information. If you can, I would recommend that you give that some thought. I'm so sorry you are going through this...it feels SO wrong on so many levels.

I'm honestly stunned at that suggestion. 500 calories seems very unreasonable, and I would think it would put your body in starvation mode. I am usually between 700-800 a day...but honestly am literally gasping at that.

Never fear Britt...yes, everyone will probably have a second, a third, a fourth, etc on the stalls. When I spoke to my NUT, she explained that the weight loss is not a straight line down, but more like stairs. Lose some...stall out...lose some...stall out. She explained that when your body loses the weight, it has to keep making adjustments (which translates into stalls). Once it has adjusted to the new 'state of affairs', then the weight will start moving again...just in time for another stall. I had a very long one at 3 weeks, and then another one last week (I am 9 weeks post op tomorrow). Hang in there! Keep doing what you're doing, and it'll come off!
