Ladies, it will get better. Once you get used to eating again your energy will pick up and you will feel good. I don't sleep any where near as much as I used to and I always feel like I want to be doing something. And 48lbs in one month is fabulous, keep it up!

Oh no, my scale calls to me. I hear it say Ella every time I walk into the bathroom! I'm just trying to ignore it because I know once I start, I won't stop.

I lost 45 pounds preop (started at 378) and I couldn't see it either, well maybe just a tiny bit in my face but definitely nowhere else. I did feel it in the way my clothing fit though! I had my surgery Monday and gained 13 pounds while I was in the hospital, from all the Fluid they pumped into me, I'm assuming. I weighed myself the other day and saw that I had lost that weight and haven't stepped on the scale since. I look at it everytime I go into the bathroom but I don't want to begin the habit of weighing every day and then feeling disappointed when the numbers aren't as low as some I've seen reported here. I just keep telling myself, "this will work" if I follow all the rules and do what I'm supposed to do, I will lose weight.

Yeah, I hadn't read anywhere that he was diagnosed with it either. I don't know much about this family's culture, but I know there are some cultures in which being fat/very fat is preferable so I wonder if any of that is at play here?
No doubt the kid was in for a world of hurt if things kept going as they did, and I'm never one to suggest a kid should be taken away from loving parents but some kind of intervention was definitely needed. I wonder, if the parents had received counseling or training to help them understand the issue at hand?

From what I understand this particular boy didn't have the PW diagnosis. I've worked with kids in the mo/md room that have it. If he did I would still be hesitant but more understanding. This particular, again from what I understand, was just obese. And has very lazy, incompetent parents...

Prader-willi syndrome is genetic, and is a result of a malfunctioning hypothalamus which is in the brain, not the stomach.
It is treated with drugs and supervised diets, I strongly feel they did this baby more harm than good here.

Nope. Many paths can lead to success. And, till my fat self was ready, I would not have listened.

I don't believe this story is real. Gawker.com is like The Onion.com and produces a lot of satirical news reports.

I would try every one the store has. Whichever one weighs you in less. That's the one to buy!!!

They allow gay scouts now, but (unless I'm mistaken) not gay leaders... So not enough has changed IMHO. My son was in the Boy Scouts when he was little but I took him out when he was treated differently for not believing in god.

Today I went to the playground with my kiddo and the playground in our neighborhood has one of those spiral slides. Before today I was never able to even think about going down the slide with her. Today that all changed. She asked me to go with her and I was like eh what the heck lets see what happens. Went down that slide with no issues!!! Made me so happy to do things like this with her!

Had my surgery at 9:45 this morning, woke up in the recovery room around 1pm. He took out my gallbladder to which is why it took so long. I've already walked a few times and have been up to pee three times so the nurses seem happy with that.
Only ice chips so I'm crazy thirsty and the little heart monitor keeps going of which is getting annoying but the nurse listened to my heart with her stethoscope and she said everything was fine. Pain doesn't seem too bad. I went the first 5 hours in my room before I requested any and I've had more a couple times since then. Burping like a mad woman but nothing yet from the other end,v walking will help that I guess.
Gonna try to sleep some more before they come in and wake me up again!

I'm leaving for hospital in about an hour. A little nervous, mostly because I've never had any kind of surgery before so I'm just not sure what to expect. Excited the date is finally here, looking forward to seeing what my future brings!
