I hate waiting too! My surgery isn't until October. What I have done so far is order a ton of Protein Shake samples in all flavors just to see what I like. So far I like the Unjury and the nectar.< /p>

Years ago I had a large portion of my left kidney removed. After the surgery the kidney had a leak. I developed a very high fever because of all of the Fluid leaking into my abdomen and causing an abscess. I can only assume that a leak from the sleeve would also cause an abscess and high fever.

Wow, I do the exact same thing! You seem to be right on with your theory of taking the best bites first! I am not sleeved until October but I might give this a shot now to break the habit!
Thanks for sharing!

If you go to a website, BJ's bariatrics, you can order a shipment of samples of the syntrex nectar - I think you can get 12, but YOU choose which flavors. They have a tea, a lemonade, fuzzy naval - a few things that seem fruity and not milky.
Do you like milkshakes? I've been putting my Protein Shakes in the blender with some ice, milk, and a banana. Tastes like a milkshake to me, but I don't mind milk.
Good luck! I'm testing them too, I googled Protein Shake samples and came up with a bunch of things!

You can also apply for Care Credit and/or refinance your home mortgage with a cash out option. There really are a lot of options - where there's a will, there is a way. My insurance doesn't cover it either, but I have some money saved up that I'll be using. The hospital also gives a discount if I pay in full within 30 days of the surgery. Some hospitals even offer a package rate - you might have to make a few calls. Its totally worth it. My surgery is in October, and it can't come soon enough
Good luck!

Shellbell333, what is the texture like for the green apple and blueberry? I am very PRE-op, but like to plan ahead. I've only had choc/vanilla Protein Shakes. Are the fruity ones the same consistency? Do you mix yours with ice? That might be the only way I could have a fruity Protein Shake - make it like a slurpee!

Hi there! I have my first appointment with Dr. Gandsas at AAMC on August 1. I've been to the seminar and I am dying to have this done ASAP. My insurance won't cover anything that has to do with obesity surgery so I'll be paying on my own. Its worth it to me!
I was wondering if anyone here could tell me a little bit about what to expect once I see the surgeon, the types of tests he requires, and how soon they will schedule my surgery knowing I do not need insurance approval. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I'm very impatient and I was hoping I could do some things on my own before my appointment that might speed things up!
Thanks everyone!
