  1. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how many hes done. I know hes been in the business since the early 90s and he works for a center of excellence. I have read so many problems about the lapband myself..I just don't like the feeling of my doctor not being confident in the procedure. Hes the only center of excellence In Texas..I'm going to do my research. Ive lost 65 on my own before starting this liquid diet. Maybe its a sign I shouldn't get the surgery...hmmm?
  2. I was September 10th but the doctor is booked..I have to wait for the 17th now... at least I can celebrate my sons first birthday and not be in pain..however my bday I will be in the hospital. Great reason to not have cake San Antonio here!!! Good luck everyone!
  3. I didn't feel anything all they did to me was put my face mask on and gave me anesthesia to knock me out. I woke up and it was done. My fear was them putting cameras while I was awake..my nurse gave me permission to punch him if it happens. My throat was sore for 4 days but it went away. I was just as stressed! Hang in there! Its not as scary as it seems. Afterall the sleeve is going to be a challenge...that I'm scared ******** best of luck to you.

    Sleep study results..

I had the same thing. Except mine were more than 100. My doctor said I have restless leg syndrome and I jolt several times in my sleep. He also said I breathe less on my back prepared to when I lay on my side. You should have a followup appointment with the sleep doctor..feel free to ask questions. I have preapnea and I was cleared for surgery? What's next for ya! Congrats btw you are moving along the process.

    What was your breaking point?

That's excellent! Keep up the good work!
  7. Ive been having last minute thoughts lately. In fact the past 2 nights Ive been spending the nights tossing and turning. I read peoples comments about them never regretting their decision and if only they would of done it when they were younger. That does give me hope!! I feel confident however I need to stay motivated. This surgery is not going to make me skinny over night..my bad habits and failed diets can still happen with my stomach cut 85%. I can still gain weight..if that's the case theN why even put my body through such a shock..why endure so much pain if I can still fail? Ive beeN mentally working on my lifestyle its been 6 good months and Ive been able to lose a lot on my own. I know I can continue after surgery..its just hard when my friends tell me..."are you sure about this? Look at what you've done on ur own"? Has anyone felt this way? Please comment thanks.

What do you tell the haters?

People think its the easy way out..so if a person needs a heart bypass from being obese..is that the easy way out? Its a cruel world out there and people will judge you anyway. If you want surgery to help better your life and health then do it for you!! Its normally the people that have problems with their lives so they have to make ours difficult too!best of luck to you!

Why did you choose vsg over other wls?

My PCP was very rude to me! I told her about my weightloss and how I kept failing..she snapped at me and said I prefer to have my stomach cut up rather than eating healthy ..it later ended with a fine and whatever..and then stormed out the room. The nurse apologized to me. Ive been overweight since a little girl. Dieting off and on..losing a little and then gaining a lot. When I found out my insurance covered WLS I went straight to my Pcp for a referral. Even though she was rude she still gave me the okay. I didn't want any rerouting of my organs, didn't want the dumping syndrome either. My surgeon only does the band and the sleeve. The fact that the band is a foreign object inside that can slip and can require frequent adjustments ..made me not want the band. I need portion control which is why I want the sleeve. Listen closely to your surgeon ..they have more knowledge about what they do..they should answer you and find the best option for you. Good luck!!

    Clear liquid diet ?

I'm allowed to have sugar free jello as well. Its hard to believe there's no sugar. I also found chocolate icecream bars from carb smart at the grocery store! Delicious! For coffee I use nescafe instant and add sugar free hazelnut syrup to add flavor. I bought broths and sparkling water too. My liquid diet starts in a week. Best of luck to you.
  11. Hi everyone!!! I wanted to ask how was your experience with your doctor? Was it good or bad? Were they helpful? Is there any advice you would give me before surgery with Carcamo? I'm happy that they are part of a center of excellence however feedback is always appreciated especially when the procedure is so life changing. If you remember me from a nutrition class please keep in touch. The more sleeve buddies the better. Best of luck!!!
  12. I agree its better safe than sorry. I'm just glad we have options to find info over the Internet..to share ideas and advice! I agree being prepared is always good.
