  1. Hey y'all' date=' I was the same on the pre-op diet! I was STARVING to death! Told my hubs I was thinking about backing out of surgery just so I could go eat! I went on the 17th, did the surgery, and woke up with a completely different attitude about food! I wasn't hungry anymore and food didn't have the hold on me that it used to! I would lay in the hospital watching pizza commercials and be like whatever ... they didn't bother me at all! Just hang in there you guys! The hunger will be gone!!! I'm only 3 days out and surgery wasn't nearly as bad as I expected![/quote']

I had surgery the same day. My heartburn was so bad I had to stay another day. I know what u mean about them commercials ..there's one on right now lol. My tummy does growl..I do feel physical hunger but its going to be trial and error till I figure out what's its like to feel full and what's content.

  2. I'm in the hospital day 3 after surgery. I'm being given broth and crystal light ..the cramps are like contractions except in my esphoagus. Its really painful. The nurses are giving me platonics to treat my pain but its not working. My Dr cant be reached when I call his office. Every extention is invalid. Has this happened to you? Should I do my shakes instead? I'm afraid to be discharged and suffer at home.

  3. I took the heating pad and placed it over my left shoulder letting it lay on the middle of my chest. It has helped me so much with the pain. I also have a clicker that I can press when I feel pain!! Today is day 2 I'm so thirsty! Feels like ive been stranded on a desert. I couldn't use the mouth swabs because it always made me vomit. I hurled with my stomach and I had pain. This surgery really isn't that bad. My csections were worse. Its just the need to burp is what's kicking my butt

  4. Yes I really don't think anyone is opposed to looking better... But was that the driving force to undergo a potentially deadly surgery?

    In a word... No

Perhaps you are young? If so' date=' I get the "I just want to look hot" thing. There is however going to be a lot of blood sweat and tears to get you to the point of "rocking your tank top".

This is a radical surgery that has consequences.

And for a lot of us, it was last resort after every other avenue had been exhausted. A LOT of mental work needs to go I to this. This surgery will permanently alter your body and you will have to live with those changes for the rest of your life.

Some of which are taking supplements forever not drinking like you used to, losing hair and for some, various other complications. To many to mention here..

The one thing this surgery is not? A cure!

As many people that lose all their weight, you will have those that lose only part of it. And even more that lose it then REGAIN! It's a life long change/battle to lose and keep it off.

One that can be won yes..

So I guess my point is, that focussing on just being able to rock an outfit may be a bit short sighted in regards to what you are about to go through. And perfection? Life is imperfect.

the "perfection" I'm looking for? To be comfortable in my imperfect self. To love this 47 year old body.

This body has lived... It has been bigger and smaller through the years, gave birth to 2 children and it has the battle scars (and lumps and bumps) to tell the stories.

I will try not to hold myself to a standard of "perfection" that you see on tv or a magazine...

    As I quoted before..

“If you look for perfection, you'll never be content.” ― Leo Tolstoy

    Again well said!!! Thanks!

  5. I was put on a low carb diet..it was mostly based on Atkins. My nutritionist started me off at 40g of carbs a day...and then after 3 months she switched me to 20g of carbs. The diet was easy to follow..I was able to eat what I liked minus the bread and tortillas. I wasn't allowed to eat fruit or cereal..but it didn't really phase me..I was able to train my mind and lose a lot of weight. My starting weight was 305 I'm down to 231...:) best of luck to you!!! My surgery is this coming Tuesday!!!
