Ahhh the pre-diet binge. I had lots of food funerals. I'm glad I did. A relationship as strong as the one between me and pizza deserved a proper goodbye. I still hang out with pizza once in a while but we don't make love like we used to. Its just food.

I have to admit, I am a little disappointed that I weighed in yesterday, and had only lost a pound last week. Rationally, I know 1-2 pounds per week is an average loss, and my monthly guest may play a part in Water retention...I guess we all just have our moments. I told my mom, "This is what normal people's bodies do during Weight Watchers!" That didn't work for me last time around. It amazes me that I have to eat 500 calories and have 80% of my stomach removed before I see the scale SLOWLY moving in the right direction! sigh...
Thank you for your uplifting news! (And for allowing me to vent.)

In the mean time, if you really want your scale moved I can do it for travel expenses plus $500. For an extra $100 plus fines and court costs I will throw it off of the tall building or monument of your choosing.

In addition, I usually add a chopped hard boiled egg to mine (adds more protein), dill weed (I like the flavor) and salt is not needed (canned tuna has plenty of salt).

Good, question Kristina. I go to the doctor on Tuesday for a follow up so I am going to ask. I know if I drink to fast I get really bad pains under my breasts.

I have to agree with Amazon ... who told you this? I pretty much stayed away from breads, rice and heavy starches the first 7 to 8 months as I knew this was my window for optimal loss and I wasn't going to piss it away on a bagel. But after I lost 120 pounds and hit goal, I will have the occasional item from my list above.
Yesterday I had a piece of cheese pizza for lunch and for dinner, I had baked sole with a baked potato (butter and ranch dressing on it). Now, my quantity is faaaaaaaar less than it used to be as half a pizza is now one slice and I enjoyed about 4 bites of potato, but NEVER enjoying carbs ... ?
Your body needs carbs for energy. My mindset had to change when I got sleeved. Doing the low/no carb lifestyle, IMO, is for people who have 100% of their stomach. With the sleeve's limited capacity, my carb intake is already limited. As long as I follow the basic guidelines of eating my lean Protein first, I can enjoy any carb I want. For me, the key is to not ABUSE those food items and try to consume nutritionally relevant items. I used to do just the opposite.
Experiment and see what works for you.

Not sure who this everybody is who is saying you can't have carbs again. Of course you will if you chose. Hopefully sugar will no longer be your go to for comfort. Soft breads I don't really eat but I also don't mind, somehow you adjust your brain to this. Toast as it is crunchy should be no problem. I haven't had rice; can have a little potato but chose again not to. You will find that your food tolerances and preferences will change for the better with the sleeve. Enjoy the ride!!

I'm newly sleeved, but even with only my pre-op loss, I can see the loss in my face, clothes, and the scales.

Other people that only see you occasionally can see what you don't because of your being gradually acclimated. When you get close to your goal weight all of your questions will be answered.

Having a problem with diahrrea. Called the nutritionist yesterday and she told me to switch from the whey Protein Drinks to EAS which is soy based. Had one last night with no problems, but had one this morning and I'm back with the trotzkies. If this continues I'll call my doctor's cell phone. I don't want dehydration.
One good thing about my doctor. You don't have to go through an answering service to get him. He gives his personal cell number and that of his wife who is his nurse.

Well, a coffee shop really. One of those shi-shi poo-poo places where people sip from gigantic bowls of frothy goodness and munch on pastries, muffins, and biscotti. Was really my cup of tea. Literally. I am on the no-coffee plan for 2 more months, so there I sat with my pitiful little pot of herbal tea.
Despite my insane jealousy of people drinking the coffee I so desperately wanted, I felt oddly empowered. I watched my co-workers complain about their weight on one hand while shoving in a chocolate croissant with the other. For lunch, they both had huge plates of pizza with thick crusts. I snuck in a couple of string cheese sticks, one for Breakfast, one for snack. For lunch I ordered a cup of vegan chili. I felt satisfied, strong, and had enough chili left to bring home for dinner. They felt sluggish and bloated, and ate far more calories for Breakfast and lunch than I will eat in 2 days.
So yes, even while eating out, the plan works. i feel less scared about being able to make it in the real world. And I must admit, I am really looking forward to being jacked up on caffeine again. (A skim latte, of course!) I am a sleever hear me ROAR!
    Best,
    Amy

MaziD...I've had the same great experience with my doctor and his nurse and nutritionist. They've told me everything plus gave me a bunch of handouts to read. The nutritionist game me a list of Protein powders and ready-made drinks that are acceptable and the stores that carried each of them. She also gave me a sample menu for my liquid diet days so I would know how to balance that.
I bought my bariatric Vitamins from the doctor's office and was told all I needed to take was that chewable Vitamin and it would cover all my needs.
I meet with my doctor for one last visit on Tuesday and I'm sure I'll get more info. then.
Yeah, I'm scared too, but living the rest of my life the way I am is totally unacceptable to me anymore. I can't walk very far. If I go shopping I have to hang onto the cart for dear life and before I get through the store my legs ache so bad I have to find a place to sit for a while. I hate having the arms of chairs dig into my flesh and be embarrassed by that in a waiting room.
I hate feeling crunched in a movie...not fitting into booths...being reluctant to fly because I squish the person next to me and always need the seatbelt extender. I hate the fact that people look at me in restaurants and laugh. I hate not being able to exercise because I just can't stand that long or have the stamina. I hate buying my clothes at the "big girl" stores and paying exhorbitant prices for them . I hate not being able to go to amusement parks because I can't do the walking and I could never fit into the rides. I hate living in fear that I might trip and fall and I can't get myself back up.
I think I really am more scared of living life like this...because it's not much of a life anymore...and I know it's only a matter of time before I develop medical problems because of it.

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been in here, I was sleeved march 20th by Dr Stowers in Decatur TX. Life has been amazing since my surgery, no major complications, i feel healthy for once in my life, no more knee pain, blood pressure and cholesterol are great! I'm at my goal weight of 175, I'm 5'10".
I if your thinking about getting the sleeve, STOP THINKING AND DO IT! It helped me in so many ways and I am very happy with my decision. Yes some set backs, like not being able to eat a whole plate if food sucks for the first 2 months, but after your mind changes and you get comfortable eating small quantities, it gets better.
Now when I got out to eat with friends, and I have take home food that lasts 2 more meals. And, when I see them eat, I think? "How the hell can they eat all that?" Mind has changed for the better, seeing all that fat, sodium and other junk entering their bodies makes me even happier that I made a decision to change my life.
Yes it sucks not being able to eat ice cream, "more than one scoop", but I'm happy when I don't. You can eat more, but your stomach won't like it at all, you will be going to the RR to throw up and have an awful stomach ache for about 30 mins.
You can eat whatever food you want, just not nearly as much as you would have before.
•PAIN- never felt any major pain at all after the procedure, incision lines never hurt, and the only time when my stomach hurt was on the staple line when I sneezed, coughed or the 2 times I threw up after the surgery. <"2 weeks only". I had the HH repaired and drinking Water felt weird for 2 weeks afterwards, after that it went away. The gas pain I felt in my shoulders for about 2 weeks, nothing after that.
The only regret I have is not getting it done sooner. Yes I was scared, but it's human nature to be scared of such a major procedure. ***But, ID RATHER SOMEONE WORK ON MY STOMACH THAN MY HEART"***
If anyone has any questions Id love to hear from you, take care and God bless you.

Ya, my baby has spit up a lot, woke me in the middle of the night crying for food, and cost me a lot of money.
But now that he is growing up he is making me proud. I did a good job raising him and he is taking care of my health in my old age.

The only thing you really can do is to sit down with your PCP, tell him exactly why you want to have this surgery. Let him know that you plan on doing it with or without his support and if he doesn't feel like he is the best fit for your decision, you will need to move on to a doctor who will.
It's your body, it's your life, it's your decision. Personally, I would rather have a team behind me who I don't feel guilty going to see, who, if I had a complication wouldn't "I told you so" me, and one I know I could call in a panic. You deserve that.
