  1. I was so sure that I would be my surgeon's "poster child" for VSG, no such luck... But after my 3.5 month follow up with him yesterday, he was happy with my progress. I am down 54 lbs and a couple of sizes. I've had stalls and now the dreaded hair loss. I make sure I take my supplements and my Biotin daily.

We are all special... we took the necessary steps to better ourselves! Good luck everyone!

  2. All day all I do is it sweets and junk food. Had two pumpkin donuts.actually eating one right now. Had a lot of the these twizlers and fudge Cookies say about 11 or more also chocolate. If I tell you everything you would look at me like how can you eat all that which I don't understand how. And can't seem to control myself I'm eating way more and worse now then I did before the surgery. It's crazy!!!!

I splurged on a pumpkin donut a couple of weeks ago. It tasted so amazingly delicious!

  3. I met some friends at Olive Garden and did great! I chose the grilled Apricot chicken with steamed broccoli and asparagus. I did get parmesan cheese on it. It's on their lighter side portion of their menu. I could only eat one chicken breast and some broccoli. I stopped when I knew I should. My friends were gorging themselves and I had no problem with it. I'm on a mission and on a new path. I was very aware of how much each of us were eating. What a change. I'd eat a whole basket of bread sticks dipped in Alfredo sauce' date=' salad and a meal. Lol. Things have changed! I left proud of me and how strong I am. This sleeve has been gift![/quote']

I met my cousin last week at Olive Garden and had the exact same thing!

  4. I'm 6 weeks out and have been stalled for the last 2 weeks. Only lost 23 lbs. Can you tell me what your usual day of meals/protein consists of? How much exercise do you get? I'm feeling sad, need some advice...

I know it's hard not to be sad, but most everyone stalls at some point along the way. And besides, your body is still healing and adjusting, it is normal and will pass. I stalled for about 3 weeks, didn't lose a pound, BUT I was losing inches. For my meals: I typically drink a Protein Shake with skim milk in the morning on my way to work. I have a mid-morning Protein Bar, lunch usually varies from turkey & cheese roll ups, to leftovers, to possibly dining out. No matter which one it is, you can bet it is Protein packed! I have a late afternoon snack (fruit, protein chips/bar, yogurt) and then most days I will have another protein shake after I get home. I have a 45 minute commute to and from work everyday, so it is usually after 6 pm when I get home. If I do eat instead of drinking my dinner, then it is usually something like turkey & cheese. I will from time to time have eggbeaters with cheese and lean turkey sausage crumbles as my mid-morning snack. It is only about 85 calories with 8gms of protein. My exercise is irregular at best!! I have a desk job, but do try to work in some walking throughout the day by taking the long way around to drop off stuff for others. Otherwise, weather permitting, I go walking around town. I live in a small, rural town. I've not measured the distance I walk, just the time I'm on the move, which is generally 30-50 minutes. I'll do that a few times a week. Other than that, I work out with my Wii Fit for about 30-50 minutes a couple of days a week.

  5. I had my first post-op appointment with the nutritionist today. I am down 46 lbs and she was happy with my food diary and activity journal. She told me to start taking my Multivitamins twice a day (one in the am, one pm) and to start taking my B12 daily instead of weekly. She said that they are seeing some sleevers with below normal levels in their bloodwork. She asked me about my Protein chips and bars that I had been eating. I just happened to have my Bariatrics Choice catalog with me and I showed it to her. She was surprised that she hadn't heard of them before. I gave her my catalog and the list of my favorite items!

  6. I think a lot of people have second thoughts, it's normal, having WLS is a huge personal decision. Some are fortunate to have an amazing support system, others come here and we give you all the support and help we can based on our own experiences. Honestly, I tried the six month doctor supervised diet three or four times before I finally said enough is enough. I have got to do this for me, I was tired of being tired, overweight and sitting on the sideline of my life. I had my surgery on July 24, 2013 and the morning after, I still questioned "what the heck have I done?!" Fast forward to today, two months later and WOW!! I'm 46 lbs lighter, my clothes are 1-2 sizes smaller, I'm off all my meds (I WAS a diabetic) and I feel better than I have in a long time. I have no regrets, except that I didn't do it sooner! I have had NO complications, didn't take the first drop of pain meds post surgery and love to brag about my accomplishments since surgery. As long as you listen to your doctor and nutritionist, you will do fine. I wish you the best!
