For people to stop asking me when my baby is due. I'm NOT pregnant people' date=' I'm just fat!!!No more plus size stores.
Sexy panties.
To NOT always be the fattest chick in the room.
To get up from my chair at a restaurant and go to the ladies room without having to plot out my path before I start walking.
To sit comfortably in ANY chair.
To be able to say I've lost 100 pounds![/quote']
YES!! Without plotting out the path to the rest room. Excellent one.

Besides getting healthy, what other things are you looking forward to Post-Op?
Here are a few of mine:
1) fit behind my steering wheel comfortably.
2) not getting choked out by the seat belt.
3) fit into a booth when we go out to a restaurant
4) not wear my food.
5) skinny dip
6) climb the stairs at work rather then elevator.
7) fit into 98% of my clothes.
8) cross my legs
9) have a lap
10) skinny dip.

I work 12 hour hospital shifts and being an RRT' date=' I have no scheduled breaks. I am on my feet for a lot of the time.I am scheduled for surgery on September 10 and have taken 6 shifts of vacation for the recovery period. I am scheduled to work a night shift September 23 but I might call in sick (I did not tell my work about the surgery so my coworkers will be alarmed at me taking a sick day after 2 weeks vacation...). In that case my next shift will be September 29. That's 19 days of recovery.
Do you think this is enough time?
What kind of work do you do and how soon did you go back to work after your surgery? Did you think you needed more time to recover than you allowed yourself?[/quote']
My wife and I are RRTs. Her Surgeon wrote her out for 6 wks because of her workload. Im hoping for the same when its my turn to be sleeved in November or December.

I had my surgery at Henry Ford and had a great experience with Dr Carlin!
Dr Carlin did my wife's surg back in April and Im hoping he will do mine after all the hoops are gone through. Great guy. Wonderful bedside manner, great surgeon. My wife is down nearly 90 lbs, I cant wait to get my life back.

This thread is still going. I love it.

Interesting. I'd like to see those because I've only seen studies that show a correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain' date=' not proof.
Great thread. I'm a chemical plant operator (no....not a telephone type operator). I make detergents that go into your car's engine oil. But I'm about to quit to go back to school full time to be a vet tech. Ssshhhhh....don't tell them.
Oh yeah....part time massage therapist and part time bicycle mechanic as well. I stay busy.[/quote']

I'm a 911 dispatcher for a three county dispatch center in Northern Michigan. I've been working midnight shifts for the last 12 years and for most of my adult life. I'm curious how many others would attest that shift work throws their eating habits (and sleeping) into a spiral of chaos?Midnights did contribute to my weight gain. There are studies out now stating lack of sleep is proven in weight gain. 15 yrs of midnights did a number to me.
Are you northern lower Michigan or northern UP Michigan??

Damn finger..... So your Doc feels there is no need for the sleep study. If post op with sedation/ pain meds on board and an observed apnea occurs a wonderful non-invasive positive pressure ventilator will be ordered. Your friendly RT will be Johnny in the spot to set you up. You
Shouldn't worry about this... We watch over you and keep you safe.
OSA, obstructive sleep apnea is very serious, but if you don't qualify for the study you are good to go.
Hope this helps. Ive been doing Respiratory Care for 30 yrs at a large medical center in Detroit where we are a Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Its nice to hear what we do in life and where we are in the journey. Thanks everyone for posting. We have everyone from stay at home moms to rocket scientists ( well, they work for NASA lol) to a lot of healthcare workers and everything in between.
Thank you to the well wishers for my wife and I.
PS. A lesson the wife learned on a road trip yesterday from Michigan to Kentucky. She learned that post sleeve (14 wks) that her body allowed her to eat something once, but the second time have a negative reaction. Upset stomach and so on. Lesson learned.
Oh, is it always so damn hot and humid down here? Im a large damn mammal and I'm a sweating profusely. Lol

I am also a Respiratory Therapist in Ohio. Just graduated from my program in May and just started my new and very 1st therapy job this week!Nice job landing your 1st RT gig. Its a great job and very rewarding. Ive been doing RT for 30 yrs in the city of Detroit. You'd think we would be fit with all the walking we do. Working midnights didn't help with weight control either. Good luck in your new career.

My first post here, been reading for months. Seems a lot of people posting are in the medical field. I thought it would be cool to hear what fellow sleevers do for a living.
The wife and I are both Respiratory Therapists here in Michigan. I am just starting this journey with my 8 hour information seminar ( pre-op ) scheduled for later this month. My better half was sleeved the end of April. She is doing awesome. Down 84 lbs total including the pre-op weight loss.
Im so excited to get my life back after getting this incredible weight loss tool.
Hope to hear from you guys.
