    psych eval

I had my eval 2 weeks ago. I am a 49 yr old male. I was exhausted after my eval I needed a nap. A 20 page questionnaire followed by a 2 hour interview. How far do you let them in? Hard cracking that door open an inch and not letting it burst open. Funny note. I was handed a piece of paper that had the outline of an obese person on it. Around the out edge were ailments related to be overweight. After stating which Ailments i have " at my current weight". I was then ask which of the others am I concerned about getting if I do not lose weight. Having had enough of this eval I looked over the list and said, I pretty much have the four worse on the list and attempted to hand the sheet back to the good doctor. He said surely there is something I was concerned about getting if I didn't lose the weight. I looked again and stated polycystic ovarian disease. I look up and he is writing that in my chart. I start laughing out loud and he looks up at me, makes a face and scratches out my reply. Funny ****. Not that PCOS us funny but I was done. 10 minutes later its all over. 10 minutes after that he returns with his eval and my approval. YEAH!!! I then stated. It was a little tense in there. Ya gotta cut loose now and then and walked away a happy man. Ive got 2-3 more hoops to jump through and hoping for a mid December surgery date.

    Sleep apnea testing

Damn finger..... So your Doc feels there is no need for the sleep study. If post op with sedation/ pain meds on board and an observed apnea occurs a wonderful non-invasive positive pressure ventilator will be ordered. Your friendly RT will be Johnny in the spot to set you up. You Shouldn't worry about this... We watch over you and keep you safe. OSA, obstructive sleep apnea is very serious, but if you don't qualify for the study you are good to go. Hope this helps. Ive been doing Respiratory Care for 30 yrs at a large medical center in Detroit where we are a Bariatric Center of Excellence.

  13. Its nice to hear what we do in life and where we are in the journey. Thanks everyone for posting. We have everyone from stay at home moms to rocket scientists ( well, they work for NASA lol) to a lot of healthcare workers and everything in between. Thank you to the well wishers for my wife and I. PS. A lesson the wife learned on a road trip yesterday from Michigan to Kentucky. She learned that post sleeve (14 wks) that her body allowed her to eat something once, but the second time have a negative reaction. Upset stomach and so on. Lesson learned. Oh, is it always so damn hot and humid down here? Im a large damn mammal and I'm a sweating profusely. Lol
  14. Nice job landing your 1st RT gig. Its a great job and very rewarding. Ive been doing RT for 30 yrs in the city of Detroit. You'd think we would be fit with all the walking we do. Working midnights didn't help with weight control either. Good luck in your new career.
