    Where are the 50s ???

I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 16, so 65 days!!! I'm on a six months pre-op for my surgeon and my insurance...labs, psyche visit, new rules for eating, preop diet (my husband has lost 33 lbs...about 15 more than me????) which should help me after surgery. I've spent HOURS on here tonight reading each of your stories...it is all so encouraging...also good to read about the "stalls" to know what I might be facing...good to see how to get in the protein shortly after surgery. I think it was Katie713 that gave a schedule of what she ate and when...I thought that was very beneficial. I plan to print that off. Also, after all of this reading, I've been wondering about Kat1 after her terrible experience with the infection...hope that she has recovered from all of that and progressing on with this change of life. BTW, I will be almost 58, with a January 4 birthday. Encouraged to read that it's not too late for me????

    all alone :( Arkansas

I have not met Dr. Paul, nor have I even met Dr. Baker yet...just his nutritionist. Scheduled to attend the Seminar on July 30; maybe they will both be there then.

    51 and Getting Sleeved 8/8 !

I hate to be so technically challenged but I'm fairly new here...how do I find your before and after photos? It always gives me hope and inspiration when I see the actual results!

I'm in Ark too. Using Dr. baker. I've met with his nutritionist in his office, and have begun my pre-op requirements. My insurance requires the six month doctor advised weigh-ins, etc. but as I understand it, even if I should lose 20+ lbs., they go from your weight at your initial weigh-in. My BMI is 40 so I had that question too. There are also pre-op surgery support groups through Baptist Hospital in LR...you might check to see if your doctor's program is included in these. It's a lot of information to digest, but my insurance provider has been very helpful.
  7. Dr. John Baker at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock is supposed to be the top in his field. His program is part of the Bariatric center of Excellence. I've had a couple of friends use him, and I'm in the pre-op program at this time. Google him.
