Protein shots
Yes, I've tried them. My NUT didn't have a problem with them except she said that you can only absorb about 30 grams of protein at a time. So I started drinking only half of it as a boost to my normal protein after surgery and would save the other half until later. I didn't like the way they tasted too much either. Not as horrible as some things, but definately not what I would call good.

Guess I'm first..
I'm from Illinois and my date is October 15th.

why do people hide it?
Thanks to everyone for your comments. I have only told those who I feel it was necessary to tell and have been wondering if or when I would "let everyone in on the secret". I still don't know, but it is nice to see other people struggling with the say issues.

Got my op date - October
I'm not one to have any great advice, but what I'm doing is trying to turn it over to God and follow him where I feel he is leading me. I'm nervous about it because it is going to be a huge change and I've never had major surgery before. My relationship with food has changed over the pay few months and after surgery it will significantly change. I'm happy and at ease because I'm being lead in a healthier direction and that is better for me and everyone around me.

Weight loss before surgery
So I go in this next Monday and should find out if my insurance has signed off on surgery or not. I'm a little nervous, but I fully believe that God will guide me through this as well. My recent thoughts have been on how much weight that I've lost pre-surgery. I've actually lost 76lbs as of this morning (BMI is 45.6). I look at the weight loss and think, 'man I've lost a small human'. I've stalled on my journey recently and have started to see some bad habbits (eating too much & poor choices) coming back. I look forward to what God has for me in the future. With all of that said, has anyone else seen this kind of weight loss before surgery? Or am I as unusual of a case as I feel that I am.

New here
Thank you all for the welcome. My BMI starting this process out was 53. My weight from my primary doctor, before my first WLS surgeon appointment, was 373. I've been on a pre-surgery diet from my dietician and am at a BMI of 44 right now. My goal weight, as I recall, is 170.

New here
I'm from the Quincy Illinois area and am new to this forum. My doctor is in the process of submitting the insurance information. I should know something by my August appointment about a surgery date. I was originally going to be getting an RNY, but my doctor ended up suggesting the VSG instead. I'm thankful to find a place like this to learn and hear from others.
