  1. I was diagnosed in March 2011. Had chemo and now I've been in remission for 2 years. I'm wondering if there are any other cancer patients or anyone else in remission having or have already had vsg after diagnosis? I read 1 post where the surgeon would not do the surgery until the 5 year mark.

    Eating and Drinking

Hi Butterfly, You need to stop drinking 15 minutes before a meal and after the meal, you have to wait 1/2 hour because after surgery if you drink and eat at the same time your stomach will feel an extreme uncomfortable feeling as well as feeling a false sense of being full.
  3. If you don't stand up for what you believe in then you never will. Glad you were able to overcome that. Congratulations. Good for you.

    Well here goes nothin!

Sending positive vibes/energy your way. Trust me, you will be fine. I was scared all to the operating table. I kept telling my Dr. make sure you wake me up lol. That was a month ago today. Many blessings, and cheers to a new beginning.

    First time failure ;-(

Don't knock yourself down too much. I believe all of us go through this. Mine actually took a week after surgery lol. I sucked on a chip like there was no tomorrow. I wanted to kick myself, but it was enough in sucking the damn chip to curb my desire. I found a website that you may want to look into for bariatric Snacks. I'm placing an order tomorrow. The key is in moderation. Just a few to curb that appetite we long for. So, now that you've done it. Lets get back on track and forge forward. Good luck. http://www.bariatricfoodsource.com

    No anti-inflammatory?!

I suffer with nerve damage and I get a lot of head pain plus occasional migraine (I know, different issue) but, after speaking with my surgeon he told me that your doctor can prescribe other pain meds. So please speak with your regular doctor who gives you the anti inflammatory meds and see if there are other meds that are vsg friendly. Good luck.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Welcome home n grats to u! And yes, ive read others who've asked the same question as u bc they wanted food. Remember, its a tool to help us and according to my surgeon, it doesnt take away the head hunger bc we have grown accustomed to not knowing real hunger, hence, we r overweight. But u hang in there and tell ur lil head to chill n let ur lol tummy heal:)) gl n God bless. U got this I'm trying. I can't wait till I'm on mushy foods. LOL. Thank you so much.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Its official. I'm 4 days post op. I had surgery on Monday. Thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers. I can honestly say that the pain wasn't too bad. Maybe because the meds right after surgery but when I came to I really tried not to press that heavenly button. I only used it to sleep. The only real pain is from the incision in my belly button. It really hurts and when I try to stand. I also miss the hospital bed. So I'm sleeping on my couch with my back against it. Can't sleep laying down. Trying to get my liquids in but I want some damn food. A grilled cheese, some chicken, something solid. Is this normal? lol. I wonder if they really sleeved me? lol Well I good luck to those going in for surgery, god bless and may your surgery be a success.
  9. Can you get your medical doctor to do it? You're going to need someone on your side. If you can see him/her this week and get his thoughts on it since s/he knows your medical background. Good luck.

I can't thank everyone enough, if it wasn't for all of your support I don't know how I would have made it this far. ***hugs***

    Cancer....

I'm a colon cancer survivor 2 1/2 years and off of chemo 2. I've read here on the boards that you may need to wait 5 years and I've also chatted with other survivors that you don't have to wait. Talk to the oncologist as well as the surgeon. And thank goodness your mom is ok. As well as the other survivors posting. God bless (if you believe).

The times, they are a changin'.....

It's okay. You probably wouldn't have liked it anyway. A couple of bites and you would of been full. Good luck. I chuckled a Lil bit at your post. Sorry.
  18. Has your insurance coordinator dealt with your insurance company with other patients? If so, then you should go by what she says wroth continued follow up with your insurance company. Sometimes the reps at my insurance company give out wrong information because they don't fully understand our because they are new. Good luck.
  19. God bless you MindiJean. Wow I'm truly amazed by all of the survivors here. I was a bit hesitant about getting this surgery because of reoccurrence, plus other issues but it seems there many survivors here whom have had the surgery. Well they have me on 2 different pills and they told me to stop all Vitamins and supplements. The neurologist also said go gluten and sougar/caffeine free and to hold off on surgery. WHAT? She's buggin out. She said one I eliminate those things then I should lose the weight. Yeah ok. Oh btw, thanks for the link. I love that song. I will be listening to it all day. High five girl.
