If you don't stand up for what you believe in then you never will. Glad you were able to overcome that. Congratulations. Good for you.

Sending positive vibes/energy your way. Trust me, you will be fine. I was scared all to the operating table. I kept telling my Dr. make sure you wake me up lol. That was a month ago today. Many blessings, and cheers to a new beginning.

Don't knock yourself down too much. I believe all of us go through this. Mine actually took a week after surgery lol. I sucked on a chip like there was no tomorrow. I wanted to kick myself, but it was enough in sucking the damn chip to curb my desire. I found a website that you may want to look into for bariatric Snacks. I'm placing an order tomorrow. The key is in moderation. Just a few to curb that appetite we long for. So, now that you've done it. Lets get back on track and forge forward. Good luck. http://www.bariatricfoodsource.com

I suffer with nerve damage and I get a lot of head pain plus occasional Migraine (I know, different issue) but, after speaking with my surgeon he told me that your doctor can prescribe other pain meds. So please speak with your regular doctor who gives you the anti inflammatory meds and see if there are other meds that are vsg friendly. Good luck.

Its official. I'm 4 days post op. I had surgery on Monday. Thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers. I can honestly say that the pain wasn't too bad. Maybe because the meds right after surgery but when I came to I really tried not to press that heavenly button. I only used it to sleep. The only real pain is from the incision in my belly button. It really hurts and when I try to stand. I also miss the hospital bed. So I'm sleeping on my couch with my back against it. Can't sleep laying down. Trying to get my liquids in but I want some damn food. A grilled cheese, some chicken, something solid. Is this normal? lol. I wonder if they really sleeved me? lol Well I good luck to those going in for surgery, god bless and may your surgery be a success.
Welcome home n grats to u! And yes, ive read others who've asked the same question as u bc they wanted food. Remember, its a tool to help us and according to my surgeon, it doesnt take away the head hunger bc we have grown accustomed to not knowing real hunger, hence, we r overweight. But u hang in there and tell ur lil head to chill n let ur lol tummy heal:)) gl n God bless. U got this
I'm trying. I can't wait till I'm on mushy foods. LOL. Thank you so much.

Going to the dietician this pass week has worried me, I told her the only reason I was meeting with her was because I need a physician approved diet ...because my goal is to have WLS & she looked shocked. Then she started with her spill about nutrition , healthy eating and exercise. She did not ask me about my previous health issues or prior weight history. Which alarmed me. I told her next month I will be back with the paperwork I need her to complete for insurance purposes for approval for WLS. So you think I should be worried about her, preventing me from being approved for WLS ??? Anyone with experience please let me know. Thanks
Can you get your medical doctor to do it? You're going to need someone on your side. If you can see him/her this week and get his thoughts on it since s/he knows your medical background. Good luck.

I'm a colon cancer survivor 2 1/2 years and off of chemo 2. I've read here on the boards that you may need to wait 5 years and I've also chatted with other survivors that you don't have to wait. Talk to the oncologist as well as the surgeon. And thank goodness your mom is ok. As well as the other survivors posting. God bless (if you believe).

It's okay. You probably wouldn't have liked it anyway. A couple of bites and you would of been full. Good luck. I chuckled a Lil bit at your post. Sorry.

I have spoken to them twice. I'm getting different answers than the insurance coordinator.Has your insurance coordinator dealt with your insurance company with other patients? If so, then you should go by what she says wroth continued follow up with your insurance company. Sometimes the reps at my insurance company give out wrong information because they don't fully understand our because they are new. Good luck.

For those of us who can't handle oatmeal for various reasons but still want the fiber' date=' I have recently discovered flaxseed. I've been adding it to my Protein shakes for awhile now but recently discovered putting a small amount of Water in a serving, letting it soak until the seed plumps up, then adding a touch of scalding hot Water to make it warm and a tiny splash of brown sugar cinnamon Syrup (sf). It's got the warmth and smell of oatmeal, is filling and so nutritious![/quote']I'm no cook and I worry about nourishing my new sleeve one I get it so thank you so much for sharing this tip. Two thumbs up.

Hi. I am new. I had my sleeve in Puerto Vallarta Mexico on Oct 9th/13. My surgeon was Dr. Castenada. I am doing pretty well surgery was a breeze and not painful. The drains were the worst part. I am slowly starting puréed foods and soft foods and tolerating it well. I just started taking my pills whole instead of crushing' date=' thankfully as they were nasty. I am happily down 19lbs! Well, just thought I would say hello![/quote']Congratulations and welcome whattodo. I'm so glad the surgery went so well for you. It gives me hope I can actually have a manageable surgery once my time comes. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks guys' date=' truly. It is helpful! I just took a long break at work, walked to the store and bought veggie munchies, so I'll stay away from the crackers at work. I'm also going to call around for a Nut and counselor. My surgeon is wonderful, he truly is, but I've never met with a Nut and I think that may help me to. Who knows! Thanks again all of you.[/quote']Hi Lia congrats on the weight loss. I'm still preop. But if you need a crunchy snack you can try going to whole foods or trader joes if you have one near you and they have do many healthier alternative. Kale chips, seaweed chips etc. Is sounds gross but I munch on them now and it helps SOMETIMES. Good luck.

God bless you MindiJean. Wow I'm truly amazed by all of the survivors here. I was a bit hesitant about getting this surgery because of reoccurrence, plus other issues but it seems there many survivors here whom have had the surgery. Well they have me on 2 different pills and they told me to stop all Vitamins and supplements. The neurologist also said go gluten and sougar/caffeine free and to hold off on surgery. WHAT? She's buggin out. She said one I eliminate those things then I should lose the weight. Yeah ok. Oh btw, thanks for the link. I love that song. I will be listening to it all day. High five girl.

Eating and Drinking
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
Hi Butterfly,
You need to stop drinking 15 minutes before a meal and after the meal, you have to wait 1/2 hour because after surgery if you drink and eat at the same time your stomach will feel an extreme uncomfortable feeling as well as feeling a false sense of being full.
