  1. Does any one have to use these? We are required to use it and it is very expensive. I have been onthe preop diet now for 10 days and the flavors of shake soup and pudding are not bad over all. Just costly. I don't see many people using them on here.
  2. LOL it is definitely you. I think it is slow.
  3. For our pre op we are required to use this one but afterwards we are free to choose. My pre op diet is two weeks some people have to do a 4 week pre op diet.

    Need Some Help....thoughts Please

My post op plan will be similar, two weeks of full liquids if tolerated well then two weeks of puree's as tolerated then on to mushy /soft foods then for two weeks and s o on and so forth...
  7. My surgery is next tuesday it is day blah blah of the pre op diet. I am doing it! I have way more will power than I thought. Since beginning this whole experience back in June I have drastically changed my diet and exercise and I have lost 35 pounds. I have never done that before. Maybe I can di this on my own. Or may be I freaking the heck out! I have had many surgeries before and it was different because there were not optional. This time I am driving myself crazy second guessing myself.

    *another* Complication.

I am so sorry and so scared I am scheduled for next week.
  9. I am 42 and I have always been overweight as an adult. I have lost weight a few times. I lost the most when I had my stroke 65 lbs I was not trying then I was very ill and was not at all interested in food, I also had trouble with swallowing. I have never stuck with like now though and I have never lost this much weight on purpose. I would never have thought that I could have stopped drinking pop and eating candy and other junk and I don't even want most of it any more. I exercise alot more thanI ever have but not as much as I should. I don't know maybe I am just getting scared.
  10. That is awesome! How are you feeling?

    2 week followup

Have you had any issues? Do you any meds addressed, refilled? Do you need to be released back to work?
  12. Boullion cubes or granules are a clear liquid are allowed after surgery. Like the previous poster said it is a little high in sodium but not an issue unless your doctor says it is. Go for the gusto! Knorr brand chicken granules are awesome~

  17. I have headaches and migraines regularly. The migraines are absoluetly debilitating. I have been on the preop diet now one week with one week to go and noe the headaches have come. this is my second migraine and it is a doozy, dizzyness, nausea, extreme pain. I was doing well before the diet which consists of 4 directions products ( like optifast) approx 800 calories per day. I am concerned about not only the calorie restriction now but after surgery when my intake is extremely low. Will my headaches continue to be exacerbated like this? One or two a monthI can handle but two o week not so much!

    Ready For Surgery!

What sort of pre op testing and dietary changes have made? Did you have to do a pre op diet? I am scheduled for surgery on the 19th and just finished my first week of my preop diet.

    This diet is very tough

Well, Ladies I have cheated too! I was honest with the doctor about it today. I was sick the whole first week of the pre op doeit and only lost four pounds I was really dissapointed! But it was four pounds so I guess I should celbrate anyway.
  20. I am scheduled for surgery on 11/19. I have a bad cold with cough and earache for about ten days. I went to my pcp and she gave me antibiotics on Thursday and my ear is better. But I am still coughing and feeling generally awful. I hate to reschedule the surgery, I have been on the preop diet for week almost (4 new directions servings per day, about 800 calories) . I hate to have to restart it. I am afraid the reason I have not gotten well is the diet. I just feel like the whole thing has turned into a mess. I have scheduled my whole life around this surgery date. Time off work, people coming from out of town. I have waited for months!
  21. Soup , broth, tomato juice(don't know if this is too acidic).
  22. I have not heard of this. Keep us posted. I am off to do some research about it!

    Sleep Study Last Night

So did they say you officially have sleep apnea? Will you be getting your own cpap soon? I did not have a sleep study but I wish I would have.
  24. I am not sure what to say to you about the veggies BUT I am on the new directions pre-op which is very close to optifast. I have shakes, bars, and soup this week and only shakes and soup next week. I am having a really hard time too. Just try your best to hang in there. You are not alone! I have also felt faint but not passed out. I have had daily headaches and a serious migraine. I am sorry you have to stay on the diet for so long. I have cheated too and it wasn't veggies, I am not even allowed any veggies or fruit nothing outside the 4 servings of shakes/soup/bar.
