  1. I am 7 days post op and was sleeved by Dr Alvarez @ Endobariatric.com. I'm doing great. I highly recommend him and especially in your circumstance. He has experience sleeving young patients, he even sleeved his own niece at a very young age (not sure exactly how young but certainly younger than 13). Good luck!
  2. . Done with surgery, I've already walked around and am doing good!
  3. Me too, bright and early tomorrow. Good luck! You will do great!
  4. Surgery bright and early with Dr Alvarez at Endobariatric. Wish me luck! :-) I will let y'all know how it goes.
  5. . Well I fit in the airplane seat!! Barely but I'll take it :-) surgery bright and early in the morning. I will let you know how it goes.
  6. I'm at the airport ready to depart for my life changing adventure. My surgery is bright and early tomorrow morning with Dr Alvarez at Endobariatric. I am super excited and ready with a side of nervous. I lost 17 pounds on my liquid diet and I an hoping I fit in the airplane seat without an extender... I will report back in a few and let you know if that happened. Wish me luck! :-)
  7. I hear ya! My surgery is in 4 days. I am on day 18 of an all liquid diet. I knew I had to mentally prepare myself for a new way of thinking and a new relationship with food but the liquid diet has tested me for sure. It has also helped prepare me. I have to face the fact that this surgery is NOT a cure all – I will have to work, seriously work to be successful. I think we are all a little afraid that we will fail. It sounds like you have a great support system at home – that’s important and wonderful! Remember that the majority of people who are successful embrace support groups. You CAN do this… there is power in positive thinking! Good luck Jen.
  8. You look amazeballz! I am having surgery in 4 days and I needed to see that! Thanks!
  9. I'm getting nervous! I'm looking for other people who have used this surgeon and your opinions on the facility etc. Thanks!!
  10. Captain's Log: Day 16 of 21 day liquid diet... ate desk for breakfast. Sleeve in 6 days.
  11. Well our date is coming up in exactly one week! WOW! I am on day 14 of my 21 day liquid diet and have managed to lose 13 lbs so far (I've cheated a few times but have kept the cheats healthy and low calorie). My husband and I joined a gym yesterday. I went to Costco and was able to find everything I needed post op including the chewable multi-vitamin, chewable calcium and sublingual B12. I am ready.... :-)
  12. My thoughts and prayers go out this morning to those being sleeved this week. I will be sleeved in exactly 7 days and so it's hard for me to concentrate on anything else at this point. I am on day 14 of a 21 day liquid diet and have lost 13 lbs so far! We can do this!
  13. My date is 2/10/14 :-) Super excited / nervous!
  14. Welcome GG. I am having my sleeve done on 2/10/14. I completely understand how you are feeling!!
  15. Awesomesauce! You look amazing! I am being sleeved in 11 days and this gives me much hope!
  16. I am being sleeved in the same day as you! Good luck!
  17. I am on day 9 of a 21 day liquid diet. It's been a roller coaster. Days 1 & 2 were an adjustment period and were the hardest so far for me except for day 6. On Saturday, day 6 (the weekend is harder for me because I tend to eat out of boredom) I decided I would go to dinner with the family after church; I had myself emotionally convinced that I could be strong and handle it fine. Boy was that a mistake. I wasn't even physically hungry but my brain started feeling sad and deprived. I have stayed away from people eating ever since - much easier that way. Tips that have helped me so far: Do your research before you buy Protein drinks / powders. I recommend Gold Standard 100% whey by Optimum - Double Rich chocolate Flavor. I bought a few shaker cups and mix a scoop and a half with 8-12 oz of skim milk and it tastes very much like chocolate milk. I'm getting a little sick of the same old drink but compared to the others I've tried like Muscle Milk, it tastes 1000% better! Drink a shake before you get hungry - not after. The more I can prevent my stomach from feeling empty the better I feel physically and emotionally. 98% fat free cream of chicken Soup made with skim milk makes me happy. Stay away from people eating food and especially food smells. There are a few entries that I read on this site that remind me of my goal and uplift me - redirect my thoughts - they are most helpful! A good support system is key. My husband is 100% on board (as well as my co-workers and friends), he's been drinking shakes with me and eating healthier. He started us a blog where we post weekly photos (both of us front and side views) and how our weeks went. I was proud of myself for losing 8 pounds (as of day 7) and that is a great motivator. I am careful to stay off the scale during the week. Weigh-ins are on Sundays only. Keep your eye on the prize!! ♥♥♥
  18. Good question - I'm not sure. I have been told that I will be the first of the day so it should be pretty early. I will be sleeved by Dr Alvarez @ Endobariatric in Piedras Negras MX.
  19. I figured out the ticker thingy :-)
  20. My surgery date is 2/10/14 too. I am on day 8 of a 21 day liquid diet - this is HARD!! I am down 8 pounds so far though :-) I can't figure out how to enter my weight loss - I do not see a ticker option under my profile...
  21. I am being sleeved by Dr. Alvarez on 2/10/14. I decided on him after doing extensive research. He is a little more expensive than other MDs in MX but still reasonable at $7,700-. I respectfully disagree with the statement that Dr. A has not received "extensive medical post graduate training". I am very surprised to hear that you can pay for the same surgery in FL for about the same price! I priced the surgery in Indiana and it averages 30k.
  22. Congrats! You can do this!! (I am on day 5 of my 21 day liquid diet and will be sleeved on 2/10) :-)
