Happy girl got a reaction from rcordero13 in Sleeves Any regrets????why and why not????
I had a sleeve 5 years ago. It caused me to have severe acid reflux. I lost weight in the beginning but gained the majority of it back. If I had to do it over I would have started with the Roux en y. I ended up needing to have the RNY anyway because of the severe acid reflux. I guess the only way you can correct the acid reflux is to do a RNY because it forms a wall so the acid can’t travel back up your esophagus. Since I’ve had the RNY I have also discovered it is also almost impossible to throw up. So I have horrible dry heaves when I am nauseous. The sleeve works for a lot of people, but it just didn’t work for me.

My surgery weight was 202 and I'm 5'4". So I'm looking to lose 60-70 pounds. I've lost 55 pounds so far and am 5 and a half months post op. Its been 10 pounds a month pretty consistently.

March 4th gastric bypass for me and gas has been by far the worst part of my experience! I’d rather give birth unmedicated to triplets !

I’m having this same surgery done for reflux on 3/18. I would think this is still Fluid retention from surgery. So wonderful to hear everything went well!! Good luck and give it a few more days.

Day 5 and feeling GREAT! I’m telling you, the gas pain sucks but once you get past that...woo-hoo! I’m not hungry at ALL though. So trying my best to get my Water and Protein in. One tip, my NUT suggested Unjury unflavored Protein Powder so I got a sample pack of that at first. It’s ok, but a lot of powder to mix in for just 10 grams of protein? No bueno. I found another brand at GNC. GENEPRO. It’s fantastic! I used it during my pre-op and it’s saving me during post op (since I can’t drink as much broth as I could before.) There are 30 g of protein in just one scoop AND the scoop is 3 x smaller than many others! It mixes great in a little lukewarm water, then I just add it to my broth or juice. Getting that much protein in a serving during the early post op days is wonderful!!

Sleeve to bypass done for acid reflux done on 03/04/2019. First 3-4 days were awful due to gas pain. I walked a ton, I prayed, I used essential oils, I laid on my left side, my right side, did Yoga poses, used a heating pad, put my knees to my chest face down and rocked back and forth & side to side, took Miralax, stopped taking my prescription pain meds and nothing seemed to help! I could burp but couldn’t pass gas. Finally by the end of day four after countless ours of praying .... it happened! I’ve never been so excited and happy to fart in my life! The surgery pain is minimal but that gas pain was wicked! Day five I felt AMAZING! I couldn’t believe the difference. No pain, I could twist, bend, and turn without any problems. I’m on day six and feel great BUT.... I got on the scale and have gained weight! I haven’t cheated! I’ve been on broth, ice chips and Crystal Light Water. How is this possible? I didn’t do this for weight loss but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hope to lose some weight! Starting weight was 216.8. Pre-op I was 208. Post-op today I’m 213.8. WTH? My post op appointment is on the 14th. Anyone else have this issue? Interested in hearing people who have had the sleeve to RNY and how much you have lost. My doctor told me not to expect to lose a large amount of weight by having this procedure, but everyone I have known that has had it has lost at least 70 pounds or more. I’d like to think I will at least get into a healthy BMI range but feeling defeated.

Happy girl got a reaction from Vixynne in Any other July 1st sleevers home?
I was sleeved July 1st too. Discharged yesterday. Wondering what in the heck I have gotten myself into! WOW! Never thought I was a wuss, but seriously thinking I might be. I've already had issues with dehydration, nausea, back pain, and it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach every time I take a sip of Water. I cannot tolerate anything but warm broth, water, and occasionally tea. Only pain med I can tolerate is Tylenol and it doesn't help much. I have gained 20 pounds and look like the Michellin man! So swollen! I'm scheduled to have additional IVF's tomorrow because I'm not getting in enough fluids. Headache, trapped air bubbles in chest, back pain & nausea is the worst. Anyone else having any of these issues?

Happy girl reacted to mom2five in 5 Months and 94 pounds down (caution, underwear pic)
I'm 5 months out from surgery and I've lost 94 pounds. I have 55 pounds left to lose to reach my goal of 125. I'm 5 ft tall. I'm so excited about the weight I've lost so far and feel a million times better.
I hesitate to post this because the before pic is me in my underwear but It's the only pic I have that really shows the difference. I hope it doesn't offend anyone.
My family is getting ready to go on a beach trip and I bought a swim suit. I got a halter bikini top and swim shorts. I tried to find a pic of me last year at the beach but I couldn't find any that showed me from the shoulders down...but I found this underwear pic from the night before surgery.
I've lost a total of 64 inches so far! I've lost 13.5 inches from my hips and 10 inches from each thigh!! I'm amazed at the process and I'm loving this journey!
Please, if underwear offends you, do not click on the pic. :-)
