  1. I was sleeved aug 8th 2013. Anyone going through the process now just have faith that this IS the best decision of your life. I started at 233lbs..I had pcos infertility and high trigycerides. I am 11 months out and my weight has stabled out at about 150lbs. I just found out this week that we are expecting baby #3 conceived naturally thanks to my 83lb weight loss..I love my new life. Check out my gallery of pictures and my blog posting on here to get my full story..good luck to all

  2. Funny. . Before surgery we can't imagine being told were too thin.

But now people say it with that look of concern on their faces

and it kind of pisses me off. . It's my body. . None ever tells yiu

when you're fat. .. don't gain anymore weight. .lolol.I guess its always

something. . Most important is to be as healthy as we can

I think our bodies know best which weight we level off at...

  3. Oh, ha ha! I had people telling me that PRE-OP. You're too skinny to have surgery (Really? I'm 5'6" topped out at around 260 and was 254 when I joined the Kaiser Bariatric Program). I started hearing "don't lose any more" around 180 lbs, but I just kept going till I got to MY goal of 135.

There's lots of possibilities. One, I think we do look gaunt in the face as the weight drops rapidly, esp. if your hair thins too, which mine did. Two, people are used to seeing you supersized, so approaching normal looks really thin to them. Three, some people just don't want you to get thinner than they are.

I think you're right about the thinning hair and looking drawn out a bit...especially if they don't know u had surgery. .probably think we're starving ourselves or sick..lolol. well I feel great and am healthy as van be!!

Whatever, do what's best for you and keep smiling.

    Lynda

  4. Anyone else starting to have people saying " youre getting to skinny..Youre at the perfect weight now..DONT lose anymore weight...???

Some people have started saying this to me. (Very few people know I had surgery) But I'm 5 ' 2 and 154lbs. I'm still 20lbs away From my Maximum weight of 135lbs...Im suppose to be 104-135.

Now call the bmi scale what you will. personally I feel fine at 154lbs but my surgeon seems to think i will lose another 20lbs over time.

I tell people I enjoy exercise and eating healthy and my body will do what it wants with that. And thats the truth. would I like to see the scale bacl at my high school weight of 135lbs,,sure...I didnt to all this to still be 20lbs overweight, now did I.

My main goal now is replacing any fat with lean muscle. I am enjoying my new life style and hate that people have to be negative about it.. Anyone else experience this??

  5. Maybe someone can help me. Yes i will call my dr, but sometimes even they dont know. So since my sleeve in august 2013 I have lost about 76lbs. Its been about 8 months. I have pcos cysts on both ovaries. Funny thing with me is I get my period every month pretty much at the same to but DO NOT ovulate. Yes its possible (It sucks but its possible) Anyway tis month I was two weeks late..convinced I was pregnant but after AF visited I guess I am not. I have been having pains,, not severe just like if i get up too fast or turn over. I guess its the cysts. But my lower abdomen feels distended a bit and bloated. Any ideas what could be there problem. And does anyone know what effect weight loss has on PCOS?

  6. Well I went for an appointment with an IVF doctor on Thursday. Well he did an enternal ultra sound and has found that I now don't have PCOS but PCO. My ovaries are normal now after losing 49kgs!!! He has done my bloods to check my testosterone levels and the rest. He is very excited to see what the levels are. We are having to go down the line of IUI with the help of Clomid. My hubby works away so IUI is our best option for now.

Just like one lady has said u will never be rid of PCOS/PCO. Ur syntoms will reduce but u can't be cured at all. Sorry to say ladies

OMG Congrats! I could cry for joy for you!! I have cysts all over both ovaries even after losing 70lbs. I hope and pray for the day that I get my ultrasound and they are gone!! Wishing you well on your journey for a baby!! I had my two girls via ivf a few years back!!

  7. The test which I had done years ago to confirm pcos diagnosis with reproductive endocronologist and must recently with my obgyn tests for testosterone levels I think ad well as some ratio LH vs something or another. I guess some drs just dianose you based on symptoms but true pcos will show up in these tests. I have my two kids via ivf so not actively trying to conceive and I know it will never be GONE I was just hoping maybe it just might dissapear like I've heard some say

  8. I was diagnosed with pcos at 20 years old. I weighed about 165lbs then.

I was just sleeved on august 8th 2013 weighing 233 lbs.

I am now 156 LBS and recent blood work shows that I still have

pcos. So discouraging. My cycle has always been a little

off but always monthly. This month I was 2 weeks late. Though

for sure I was pregnant. Nope just my pcos showing its

ugly face. Lol 10 lbs lighter than when I was first diagnosed

hopefully at goal weight of 133 lbs things will improve.

  9. I went to a support group when I was only 8 weeks out and I with the exception of 1 woman was by far the thinnest in the room. I was thinking, maybe everyone was very very large before surgery or maybe they just didnt lose well. One woman kept talking about how she loves drinking beer and drinking soda and how she cant stop and cant lose weight. I was soo annoyed to even be there that I havent gone back since. I'm now 7 months post op and doing well. Thinking of going back to the "support" group again to touch base with others...hoping for a better experience

  10. Oh yes the "you have lost enough weight" friends, I think they are trying to complement us, but it comes off as if they know what would be a healthy weight for our bodies. Only we know what weight we feel good at.

I was sleeved 8/21/13, have lost 88 pounds and currently weigh 158. I would like to loose another 10-20 pounds too, but being in my 60's, I think maybe I need a little more padding just in case, if I should fall. But wow does it feel good to wear size 10 petite pants.

sounds like we are about the same size.. speaking of padding..noticing all these bones i didnt know i had. at first im alarmed thinking omg whats that.. must be a lump or something..that doesnt feel right...hahaha...

  11. Surgery was August 8th ,2013

    HW 233

    SW 216

CW HOLY CRAP I'm 157 lbs..

I havent been this weight since I was a teenager.

    On a side note..

Everyones telling me 'Dont lose anymore weight you look perfect as you are"

BUT according to the stupid BMI I have to lose another 22lbs JUST to be at my absolute highest healthy weight. I find that a bit absurd.

I feel great at my current weight but figure I can lose 10-20 more lbs so I have a few lbs of wiggle room if I ever want another child..

How has everyone responded to YOUR weight loss??

  13. what type of drinks did you drink> looking for some semi "on Plan" ideas for my all inclusive

Wow, this is an unexpected question over a year later! Lol.

I drank mostly wine, though there were a few nights where I had a pre dinner cocktail or two. Fast forward over a year and I can regularly enjoy a wine or two, or an occasional cocktail with no consequence. I just make sure I track it and make sure I burn it off.

    All things in moderation.

Thanks, I know your post was a while ago, but am having a hard time finding suitable drinks. afraid suagry juices will make me sick. Thanks for your input!!

  14. I have just got back from a two week vacation in Australia. I just went with the flow and decided to enjoy myself and not spend time worrying about weight. I didn't eat more than normal, though the food was different and included more carbs than I usually consume. I drank alcohol every day which is not the norm. Despite this, I lost a kilo over the two weeks. I am back on MFP and back in my usual routine and I think the break from my routine was a good thing.

  15. post-180037-0-31648300-1392662096_thumb.jpg post-180037-0-31648300-1392662096_thumb.jpgHello, I am 6 months out from surgery and have lost 70+ lbs so far. I am 10-15lbs away from goal weight. I am asking a question here NOT to be criticized, but just for suggestions. If you do not agree with drinking after surgery well than thats your life style and my question is for someone who does. That being said,,

It's my birthday and my husband and I planned an all inclusive get away WITHOUT the kids. Havent been away since before kids were born 5 years ago. I have no problem making healthy food choices while away. I know Protein first and all that. My real question is what drinks I should have. Again, I know Alcohol is not healthy so I dont need a lecture. But I do like to have a few drinks, especially by the pool. But problem is margaritas and all those frozen drinks are loaded with sugar and will surely make me nauseous, I cant drink carbonated beverages so diet coke and rums or vodka sodas are out. And I dont want anything too strong like martinis b/c I dont want to over due it or be sick. Wine is always safe especially watered down. If anyone has suggestions that I have not thought of id like to hear them. Thanks!!

  17. Well well, look at all of us her the close to or at 5 months post op! It feels like so long ago. I am confortable with my sleeve but kind of got knocked off the wagon a bit over the holidays. & We are remodeling our kitchen so not too much cooking here. Thank god for Protein Shakes, & Bars!!

  18. I had surgery 4 months ago..I told noone except my husband and parents. Now Im 4 months out and down 60 lbs since surgery. That much weight loss on a 5 foot 2 frame has everyone asking HOW I did it!! I feel like such a liar telling them about my low carb diet plan with small portions and exercise even though that is all true I just leave out the part where a surgeon has removed 80% of my stomach. So my question is HOW do I tell people the truth after living a lie for all this time. I know its noones business and I wanted to be private about the surgery. For one I was afraid it wouldnt work and didnt want everyone expecting me to lose all this weight, two I didnt want to be the topic of anyones discussion when Im not around (Although I suppose I probablly am now anyway) Three I didnt want anyone to talk me out of it and I didnt want to admit to the anyone that I was so heavy that I even qualified for weight loss surgery in the first place.
