1 week post op and starving

Jello is a clear liquid. Thats what I'm on for the first week and my booklet says Jello is included in week 1 and they gave me jello for both of my meals in the hospital.

    Lifetime Fitness Club

The body age assessments are 3 little fitness tests. One measureds how much weight you could press, the other had you sit on the floor with your legs extended and measured how far forward you could stretch, and I forgot the the third. You can pay money for some testing like a VO2 Max but I wouldn't bother with that unless you are a competitive athlete. I would expect that if you meet with a nutritionist at LTF that they will push their supplements, bars, & powders on you.

    What was your final straw?

15 months ago I had lost 110 lbs and thought I had my weight issues solved. I gained it all back in about a year and realized that I needed another tool to help me maintain a healthy weight when I get back down.

    July Exercise Challenge

I plan on getting back to playing in my Ultimate leagues on Mondays and Tuesdays plus Australian Football practice on Saturdays. During the week, I will do as much as possible on the elliptical and then do about 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill.

1 week post op and starving

I'm just 3 days post-op and I'm still getting quite full on a jello cup. Sometimes I can only eat 1/2 before I start feeling uncomfortable. I'm getting a bit bored of jello, popsicles, juice and broth but I'll make to Monday when I can start having soup and cream of wheat (never thought they would sound good).

    June 2007 Bandsters

I had my banding yesterday, june 25, and am home today. I'm feeling pretty good but got woozy on the car ride home (my friend isn't a smooth diver). My surgeon and hospital staff were fantastic. But it is nice to be home and in my own bed. I'm going to force myself to take it easy and not push myself too quickly. So far just jello, broth, and juice. I think the preop liquid protein diet is to make those taste like the best food ever. Pain is minimal. I'm going about 6 hours between doses of the liquid percocet. I'd say that the pain is a bit worse than a really tough ab workout with a trainer.
  11. I'm back home a feeling pretty good. I've gained back all that I lost but I suspect thats all swelling and stuff. Its certainly not from eating because I've only have 1 cup of broth, 2 jellos, 2 cups of juice and 2 popsicles since I left for the hospital. It certainly was nice to take nap in my own bed.
  12. 7 more hours and I'll be checking in at the hospital. The 10 day liquid protein diet has been fun. At least I've lost 11 lbs or so. Today was clear liquids and that broth sure tasted good.

    June 2007 Bandsters

Hi, I'm new here and I'm having surgery on June 25. I have to be on a liquid protein diet (i.e. Slimfast) starting June 15 and as luck has it I'm going to be out of town from the 15th to the 23rd. I'll pack some in my suitcase and pick some up when I get to my hotel. Thats worth getting my surgery scheduled as soon as possible (about 3 weeks after I got approval from my insurance company). I wanted as much recovery time as possible before some athletic events in late july/early august. My surgeon says that I should be back to my normal routine in a week or two after surgery. Hopefully he's not being overly optimistic!
  14. I'm having surgery on June 25. Things have gone fairly quickly, I was quite surprised that it took my insurance company only 1 week to approve me for lap band surgery. I'm going to be out of town the whole 10 days pre-op where I can only have liquid protein so I'm packing my suitcase with Slimfast. This is going to be one fun business trip!
