Prior to surgery, I LOVED Water, ice cold water, and I drank it all the time. Since my surgery 4 weeks ago, I struggle to get in my water every day and I haven't once reached my goal of 64oz. I've tried all additives too and I HATE fruity flavors and juice. I've added lemon and cucumber, crystal light, sf kool aid, mio, etc. I've tried room temp and cold. I can, however, eat ice and I try to do that all day long. I've also found that if I dilute apple juice (the only juice I like) I can drink that. But it's a constant struggle and I hope it gets better. Good luck to you!

Yes. It's on my puree stage foods. I've eaten grits several times (I'm 4 weeks post op) and they were good! I added a little scrambled egg to mine too for a little Protein.< /p>

It was prescribed. The pill was probably prescription zofran. It works well!

I am 5 months out. I had a leak 1 week after surgery' date=' had a stent placed and removed 7/19. I really haven't had any problems since then. With my stent I was on all liquids and after it was removed progressed as normal with my foods. The past week I've started having terrible cramping while eating or drinking & it lasts for a while after. I am taking small bites, chewing thoroughly, not overeating, following all the rules. I've had diarrhea daily, mostly in the morning. Thankfully no vomiting or any other symptoms. I had my gall bladder removed 20 years ago so I know it's not that. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of anyone who has? I'm seeing my Doc Thursday morning.[/quote']Could you possibly have IBS or maybe a food allergy? I have both, and with both, they have caused major cramps. Are you eating dairy when this happens? Being lactose intolerant can cause really bad cramps too. Good luck!

Oh yeah!!! Coffee! Lol. That used to make me regular.I haven't tried coffee yet. I was a regular coffee drinker pre-sleeve but I just haven't had a taste for it. But I think I'll have to try this weekend!

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and can only eat about 2oz of meat and 1tbs of veggies at a meal. But I don't think it's abnormal the portions you stated. My sleeve is probably still a little swollen. I think my nut would like to see me eating that portion for dinner in a couple of weeks. I'll work up to it.

It's been 1 week now and I haven't had a BM! I've taken MOM for the past 2 days plus a stool softener and nothing yet! I was pretty regular up until this. I'm 3.5 weeks postop. I don't feel constipated or bloated. And I hate taking the MOM and stool softener though because they make me almost vomit! Yuck! I don't know what to do. I have some Fiber that I could add to a shake, but per my NUT, I'm trying to get my Protein from my food and not shakes now. I guess if nothing happens soon I'll have to get an enima.

You look amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! I am only 3.5 weeks post op and this gives me so much encouragement!

I've had concerns because my diet seems very different than others. But then I found that the Cornell Weight Loss Surgery Diet is very similar. http://www.cornellwe...gastrectomy.pdf No pure liquid stages. No three weeks of only clears. I'm not sure if I should be screaming for joy' date=' or feel badly for those who have such hard restrictions, or to question MY Nut? [/quote'] Your postop diet looks similar to mine. After I was discharged from the hospital I was told to start on purées for the first month then transition to regular food, as tolerated. And I did not have any type of PreOp diet. -
Good luck to everyone! I wish you all a speedy recovery!

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I can tell you each day gets better and better! The first week was so hard for me but now I feel good! Just take it one day at a time and you'll feel better soon! Just make sure at this point you stay hydrated! Congrats on this big step!

Its definitely the sugar alchols in the Atkins bars. I didn't the Atkins Induction diet last feb for 4 wks. Ate 1 to 2 Atkins bars a day. Any more than 1 and I had tummy troubles. As for the dumping: my dr says that sleevers don't have dumping Ithat it comes from bypass when ur body doesn't absorb nutrients). That being said' date=' every single time (I'm a slow learner) I try ice cream I get bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. Not sure if its dumping or what (my dr would argue) but whatever it is, its not worth it. A few wks ago I noticed myself bargaining with God if He got me thru it, Id never eat ice cream again. Not unlike drinking too much at 18 yr old.... But I do know that Atkins bars (which r very good) cause cramping....[/quote']It sounds like you could be lactose intolerant. Ice cream was the first thing that I ate that triggered cramps and diarrhea (I've been lactose intolerant for 3 year). Then I started noticing more and more dairy products hurt me. Now I have to completely avoid dairy. The pain is terrible!

I've been on purées since 4 days post op and I'm allowed natural Peanut Butter. I eat 1 tbs a couple of times a week.

I started them a few days after surgery and have tolerated them well. I chew one in the morning and one at night.

I was sleeved on Sept 27. I have only lost 20 pounds. I did lose 25 on my pre op diet.20 pounds is great AND 25 preop! I was sleeved on the 27th and I've lost 18 pounds. I started at 210 and am now 192. I didn't have a PreOp diet but in the 3 months before my surgery I lost 15 pounds.

surgery was on sept 24th. i'm new to vertical talk so still looking and reading a bunch of posts. i'm doing well so far. i think i have the lactose intolerance i've read about. which is a shame sine i love milk.I'm lactose intolerant too (but have been for a couple of years). I drink lactaid milk and it's good! Maybe you can try that. I was sleeved on Sept 27th. Welcome!

My NUT said I could have 1 cup of coffee per day and preferably with milk (protein) and artificial sweetener. I'm only 17 days postop so I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon.
As far as detox goes, I drank coffee every day up until the day of my surgery. I detoxed and didn't even know it while I was recovering. It wasn't bad at all. And honestly, I'm ok with not having my coffee right now. I just don't have a taste for it yet. But eventually I'm sure I'll return to it.

I am tired of the pureed stuff and the liquid stuff. What else is there? HELP! I don't know what to do!I'm 2 weeks postop and tired of purées too. I have 2 more weeks on purées before I transition to regular food. I'm just so ready to chew. I've been eating ice and that seems to help. I'm eating a lot of refried Beans and egg salad. This week I'm going to make tuna patties (like salmon patties except with tuna) and I use a small amount of almond meal instead of flour. It's really soft so I think it will be easy to eat.

I had it for about 4 years and liked it because of no hormones, but my periods got more painful and longer so I had it taken out. I'm getting mirena next month. Most people don't even have a period with that.

Yes! I use Jay Robb Egg White Protein powder (unflavored) and it mixes well with a lot of things.

I was sleeved 12 days ago and I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time. The biggest problem I've faced so far is from the gallbladder removal (tmi- sudden diarrhea) and not the vsg. But overall, things are great. I hope you heal quickly.
