I decided not to broadcast my choice to anyone outside of my immediate family. I have head a lot of negative opinions by my friends and associates how wls is an easy way out. I wish that were true. I am having a surgical procedure to help me achieve something I cannot do on my own. It's just a tool in my tool box that I intend to keep to myself.

Yes, I am traveling to Mexico alone. I fly out tomorrow. At the time I set this up I was determined to go on my own but as I get closer to take off I wish I could bring some body along.

When I had the doctor's office fill out my FMLA paper work I asked that they not disclose the surgery that I am having. They put "elective " surgery. As my insurance does not cover any weight loss treatment and I am a self pay going to Mexico it's nobody's business. I am not telling anyone outside of my immediate family what I am doing by the way I have told my PCP for obvious reasons but that's it. People where I work tend to be busy bodies too and I work in health care. HIPPA means nothing there.

I know what you mean. People can be so cruel. I have heard comments said about me by a__holes being funny for their pals and I have heard things said by those in my own family that cut the deepest.Went to vacation in June and I felt so ugly especially in a swimsuit ... Over heard someone saying you don't want that cow... That hurt really bad

NSV: Starting out at 350 lbs looking at my pre-op diet and thinking how am I going to do this? Dieting is not my strong point and I have to go on a liquid diet? My surgery is next Tuesday and this morning the scale reads 307!! I have to admit the first few days were not fun, but I feel like I scored!

Over the years there have been MANY straws loaded up on my camels back. I have researched bariatric surgery over the years and gone to a bunch of seminars, Following the sudden passing of my significant other who was also obese due to the complications of CHF, diabetes and heart disease at 48 years of age. Then in a few months time his sister at 50 for the same health reasons also obese. My own struggle with diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, joint and back pain. I was most unhappy with my most recent lab results. I knew that if I did not make a change now I would not be a part of my grand children's lives. Either due to my increasing co-morbidities or just being too fat to be involved in their lives.

I bought it from Amazon it is by Syntrax Nectar as medical protein. It has 10 grams of protein per serving.Hey! Where did you get the unflavored Protein powder from?
-
I am on the 3rd too......
-
I feel a lot better about my choice in going there now. Thanks.

As for myself I found that the first few days were the hardest. I drank a lot of Water and tried to get as much Protein as I could in what I was getting. Syntrax Nectar is pretty good I might add. If I got hunger pains I would sip a cup of hot tea or broth to quiet the old stomach down again. I found an unflavored Protein Powder that I can add a scoop to juices or water too.

Getting closer.........

I am glad that you had a good experience.
What did you think of Dr.Alamza and the staff there? I understand that it is a small surgery center/clinic in a strip mall but very clean.

Due to my high BMI I have had to do my diet sooner than most. I still need to pack. Trying to decide what I ought to bring to wear..... . My passport came in just the nick of time. I decided to get the card also since that is all we really need to go into Mexico. My children are grown, but I understand your child care concerns. I was a single mom and trying to juggle their school things work and ect.... was difficult at times. Hope you guys get it all worked out.

I am scheduled for September 3rd with Dr. Almanza in Tijuana. I have started the liquid diet and I am really looking forward to finally having this done and begin a new journey as a healthier me.

sorry best friend.....lol. Probably like sisters though.

Hi, Amanda May!
I am holding up pretty well. I started my liquid diet that part I thought would be difficult but I am making it.
How are you and your sister doing?
-
After much procrastination I have a date with Dr Almanza on September 3rd. I live near Tulsa Oklahoma and I would really like a surgery buddy that is going to be having their sleeve done around that time.
