LOL! I was just saying that I also wanted to know that. That wasn't an attempt to dismiss your question.

Seriously, the same question?!?

I've always been a fast eater. My boyfriend compared me to a soldier ramming through MESS hall today--in and out in under five minutes. I get hungry, I pounce on the food, I'm done. Apparently, I can't do that anymore. And I don't know why it is so hard for me to learn. I still have the hunger, so when it's time to eat, I eat too quickly, not realizing that I have eaten too much and then I am in trouble. Has anyone else struggled with this? What are some tips to tame the MESS HALL MONSTER?

Irrational Fears
My understanding is that leaks are actually rare, something like 1 in 100. They also subside significantly with time. You could actually call your surgeon and ask about her/his stats of leaks--chances are, they are very low. Your anxiety, however, that is a different thing. Very natural. I freak out occasionally for different reasons (which I don't want to share for fear of scaring you), but I just try to breathe, and let myself know that I would be able to handle it IF it happens. No need to stress yourself out while you're healing (I know, easier said than done!). I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Milk of Magnesia
I know this might be too late, but you should probably be "good to go" sooner than 3-4 hours.

Grieving My Old Stomach
Thank you guys so much for the affirmations and support! I really appreciate it! It is so nice to know that others have experienced this and that it gets better. I definitely can't wait!

Grieving My Old Stomach
So, I am very grateful for the opportunity to have had this surgery. I've battled weight for years. However, at 1&1/2 weeks post-op, I'm realizing I'm grieving my old stomach. This is rough. Has anyone else felt like that? How do we get through it? 'Cause right now I feel like I won't be able to enjoy food again and it's sad.

what are u craving?
Sometimes, just anything not mushed, regular. I miss my stomach sometimes. 1 & 1/2 weeks post-op.

Milk of Magnesia
For me it worked very quickly (a few hours). Be careful with the dosage. I wouldn't go with the maximum recommended. Try the smallest one first (or even 1/2 of that) and see how that works. On my first try, I took the largest dose and it sort of made me go to the bathroom A LOT, so be careful.

all alone :( Arkansas
My experience, like many great comments here suggest, is that the seminar will provide you with a lot of information to alleviate some of the anxiety you are feeling. In my case, I had an advocate provided to me by my surgeon's office and she was the one who dealt with the insurance companies. They (the advocates) are usually very familiar with all the plans and know exactly what the requirements are. Wait to see if the surgeon you have chosen will provide you with this service. It will make you life A LOT easier. Good luck!

Alcohol
Good job! You survived! Yeah!

How soon post-op did you start excercising?!
Happy to report, 10 days post-op, went back to the gym today! Treadmill walking and even ran a bit. Felt so liberated! My stitches still hurt a bit so I didn't push too hard, but it feels so exciting to exercise now when you feel like it will really contribute to real weight loss!

Great question!

Alcohol
I like that you started this post! I want to be real with this surgery. Not an alcoholic, but I still want to enjoy life occasionally. 'Cause, heck, otherwise, why live it? Thank you for the question!

day 4 post op
Yes. Hungry, miss real food, it's an adjustment... I'm whining, I know, but I think it's good to vent sometimes. I just hope this is all worth it at the end. I'm not losing weight as fast as other people so that's alarming too. Thanks for listening!
