  1. I can't seem to figure out how to follow my own blog posts. I've clicked the "Follow" button at the top of the posts, but they don't stay followed. It would make sense that as the original poster I would automatically be signed up to follow them, but this doesn't seem to be the case, as I'm having to click "Follow" for each post individually and multiple times to receive notification about activity on them.

Is there something very obvious that I'm missing? Or is this a common glitch?

    Thank you!

  2. Yet here you are.

I have questions for you - are any of the men complaining about it? Then why is this so important to you? Why is this your business?

Sheesh, ever think of changing your name to "Don RUDE-olfo". I was just trying to clarify what the situation was (possibly a technical issue), since it seemed to me the expectation had been outlined pretty clearly in the room's description.

  3. As mentioned on the soon-to-be-viral video, "Life One Week Post-Op and a Note About Surgeon Selection"

    Beans (whatever you like!)

1 1/2 boxes chicken or vegetable broth

    olive oil

    pinch sea salt

    chipotle powder to taste

    one onion, chopped

one green pepper , chopped (bell, anaheim, poblano - your choice)

2-4 cloves garlic (depending on your taste)

1-2 small cans diced green chiles

    jar of salsa

    1 can corn niblets (optional)

    Chipotle Yumm! sauce

Drain and RINSE beans using a strainer (this gets rid of the gas-forming stuff!)

Put all your beans in a pot with one box of broth and simmer

On a separate burner, saute onion, garlic, and fresh pepper in olive oil with a pinch of salt over medium heat until soft.

Add salsa, green chiles, chipotle powder, and corn* and let them play with the veggies for a few minutes

In batches, blend everything from the saute pan, then add to the beans in broth**

    Voila! Soup!

Serve with a teaspoon of Yumm! sauce, if ya got it!

*Corn will make the Soup sweeter, which not everybody digs

**If still on full liquids/purees, you can puree the beans too and add extra broth when serving. I puree everything but the beans, then puree individual servings right before I eat them.

  4. (rant alert!) CARBS ARE NOT THE DEVIL! (Thanks for nothing, Dr. Atkins.) Beans do not include simple or lipogenic (fat-forming) carbohydrates like, say, high fructose corn Syrup does. Your body NEEDS the three macronutrients of fat, carbohydrate, and Protein to continue catalyzing reactions that keep it functioning. However, you must educate yourself in the various types of carbs so you can read nutrition information/labels critically.

That being said, your first priority (as well as mine) should be on acquiring adequate Protein. Beans are such an excellent source of protein, I doubt you have anything to worry about as far as filling up with carbs before meeting your protein quota.

  5. ...She even told me that if she were in charge of my Psych eval., she would tell them to deny me...

My therapist said the same thing to me two weeks before my surgery. At our next session I confronted her about how much this bothered me. I had thoroughly done my research, been through four months of residential treatment for binge eating disorder, and my mindset was the best it had ever been. My body just kept gaining weight. I knew I was ready and would have had the procedure the day I learned about it if I could have! She was convinced that because of my history of emotional eating I would fail. I told her that her statement made me feel judged and gave me the impression that she either didn't understand me or didn't believe me when I said I knew there was much work ahead. I then proceeded to elaborate all the work that was ahead and my willingness to do it, clarifying that I understood the sleeve is a tool not a solution. By the end of the session, she took back what she had said.

She was one of only six people I told before having the surgery. Despite her retraction, it was devastating to hear her say that to me in the first place.

  6. I went alone and had trouble. i lost the keys to the rental car! and no they do not have duplicates. on the sunday before monday morning surgery. so i had to make the calls and arrangements to be towed to the airport when discharged, lug my luggage, wait for hours as the plane was delayed, etc.. Nevertheless I had support from my team and family and found reserves inside myself that I thought long gone with my youth. I am a different better person for the experience. Having to rely on my self on the day after the surgery when I was still in pain, no matter how much walking i did, was a true learning episode.

i dont think there is a right answer, just a different path.

I didn't think we were supposed to drive for two weeks after.
