    Food feels stuck

A few days ago, a pill got stuck in my esophagus, which was kind of scary. I just kept sipping water until it finally went down. I also just kept swallowing my saliva if I was too full of water to help with the movement of the esophagus to help what was stuck get past. I'm not sure if what you ate is bigger than the pill, but try that and see if it helps at all. I'm sorry I can't think of anything else hope it goes down soon.

    Pizza

Probably when you're allowed to advance to regular foods. For me, that's six weeks post op, but each surgeon is different in how soon they advance you through the diet.

It's not always about the scale

Yay, congrats! Sometimes we get so fixated on the scale that we forget that there are other ways to measure our progress when the scales are being stubborn.

    Unjury unflavored powder

I put half a scoop of it in the 4 oz yogurt, so with the 5g Protein from the yogurt and 10g from the unjury, I think that's a nice amount for 4 oz.

    Protein shakes

Yeah it definitely matters, just make sure to count all the grams of Protein that you're taking in from your food to make sure you're getting the adequate amount of protein, and if you are between that 60g-80g daily protein goal, then you're all set, you don't need those protein drinks!

    Protein shakes

If you're able to get in all of your Protein on regular foods 2 months out, then you wouldn't need the Protein drinks. They're there to help us meet that daily protein goal if we're unable to meet that goal with solid food alone.

    Protein shakes

Well, they're going to be very important during the 2 week (varies by surgeon) liquid diet that follows the VSG surgery. I think that if we didn't have any protein drinks, it'd be very very difficult to meet the very important goal of 60-80g of protein per day when we're not allowed solid food.
  11. That's been happening to me lol. I have no appetite whatsoever since surgery on 10/24, however in the past week since surgery I've had about 4 separate dreams where I'm stuffing my face with the bad foods I used to love to eat. It's crazy!

    Unjury unflavored powder

I use the unflavored in yogurt only, because when I've put it into other things, I can taste it, and it's not good lol. But I can't taste it at all in the yogurt.
  13. I was sleeved October 24th, have lost 8 pounds so far. Everybody loses at a different rate, but if you're sticking to plan, making sure you're getting your protein and water in, I'm sure the scale will start moving.

    Pain Threshold

After surgery, they had me on a morphine PCA pump, which did not relieve my pain, it just made me sleepy. So they gave me toradol, and changed my PCA pump to dilaudid and that certainly did the trick.

How long before the surgery do they....

I had the preadmission blood work drawn 13 days prior to surgery, which was the same day as my nutrition class, that's the way they set it up.

44 and sending fat out the door!

My surgeon also didn't require a liquid diet, just a 1000 calorie healthy eating plan starting 2 weeks prior to surgery, which I was very happy about. I wish you the best of luck, DeeGee!

    Drinking

Hello, My nutritionist said post op you should avoid drinking from a straw because it makes you drink faster, and you want to take it real slow when you're drinking your liquids, so I took it to mean never to drink from a straw, or at least wait until your much much further out from surgery.
