    Officially on the losers bench!

Congrats on your surgery! I know those gas pains were a killer the first week or so for me, but make sure to walk as frequently as possible to get that gas out of your system!

    Frequency of Plateaus/Weight Stalls

Okay, good to know, I was wondering if maybe it was happening too often to me, but I guess even though it feels like it's happening every few weeks, it's normal > lol

    Recovery/ Time off

I had eight weeks off of work because my surgeon had me on a no greater than 10 pound lifting restriction for 8 weeks, no bending or twisting etc, and in what I do, I can't have those kind of restrictions, so 8 weeks out of work for me.

    Sufar free gum...

My surgeon also said no gum for that same reason Photo stated. I used to chew gum constantly pre-op so it's hard not to! But I haven't. Yet. lol

    Hairloss! ????????

I'm sorry I can't be of much help, I'm awaiting to see what some others have to say about this, because just last week I noticed my hair starting to fall out, and even though I knew it was going to happen, it's very alarming and scary every time you brush you hair, to see more and more strands falling out. I'm 3 months post op.

    Calories

Or maybe some snacks in between your meals like yogurt or cottage cheese or some other snacks you might like.

    Calories

How many times a day are you eating? Maybe if you eat your small meals more frequently throughout the day you'd be able to get to your 600 calorie goal.

    skinny goals

I'm with you on the roller skating! I was just thinking about it the other day. I haven't gone in years because of my weight. Now I'm looking forward to several different activities that I used to love when I was lighter like ice skating, roller skating, bowling (I hated people staring while I was getting ready to throw the bowling ball), running, and water sports-I love jet skiing and parasailing. The top thing on the list for me is definitely roller coasters! Can't wait to fit normally into the seats and enjoy the rides like I used to.

Still can't get my size right!

I should probably get to the store and buy some new clothes, now that I'm down 60 pounds, but it's such a daunting task going through "is this going to fit me? what about in a few weeks? should I just save my money?" Clothes shopping while losing weight is hard!

    coffee

My surgeon discouraged caffeine post surgery because he said it's an irritant to the stomach, and increases stomach acid production which might increase risk of getting a gastric ulcer. I'm not much of a coffee drinker anyway, now soda on the other hand, I will miss!

    1st restaurant experience

I used to go out to the restaurants all the time, and like a lot of us, ordered a drink, appetizer, entree and desert. After surgery, I've only gone to a restaurant like twice, and both times just got some water, and an entree where I had to take about 90% home. I felt kind of weird that everyone I was with had empty plates and here I am with most of my food on my plate!

    I bought a size 12 jacket

    Wonderful! You look amazing, I can't wait until I'm a size 12!

    What about sodium intake?

My doc has me staying at around 1,500mg per day because of hypertension. I like staying under 2,000mg anyway, because once that sodium intake gets up there, then I start retaining water, and even though I know it's just water retention, I hate seeing the scale go up!

60 years young today, 2 yrs PO, GOAL

Happy birthday! You've come a long way, you are truly an inspiration!
  18. I was also worried because I had gained weight for my final weigh-in, and was scared they would postpone my surgery. Like you, I was still below my initial recorded weight, so I guess as long as you're not over your initial weight, it should be okay. They didn't even mention the weight gain that was noted between my previous weigh in and my last weigh in. That was certainly a load of my chest!
  19. My nutritionist said that I should try to get in around 600 calories, I'm about 2 1/2 weeks out.

    Antibiotics With Issues Post Vsg

Being on antibiotics increase your chance of getting a yeast infection because the antibiotic doesn't differentiate between the good and bad bacteria in our system and kills both, giving yeast a much easier time to get out of control and overgrow. That was one of my fears of being on an antibiotic, because I know how common it happens, but thankfully it didn't.

    What To Drink After Vsg

    2weeks out of surgery

Hi there, I was a diabetic prior to surgery, however my blood sugars in the hospital were running low due to the low intake, and they discontinued my Metformin, which I was very happy about! My doctor didn't have me on a liquid diet prior to surgery, he had me on a 1000 calorie high Protein low fat low carb diet, which was much more manageable than a liquid diet in my opinion. I was kind of worried that my liver would be too big because one of my tests showed I had a fatty liver, but everything worked out fine!
