  1. Hi Brenda: I assume you mean your EKG wasn't good. That sucks! It's such important information though. You want to come safely thru your surgery without any undue risk or complications. I hope your surgeon feels you are OK to go forward as planned.

No I did mean EDG it is when they go through the throat and check your stomach. But I just got word that surgery will be Monday. SO EXCITED.

  2. I am so nervous. My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 25th. I went yesterday for my EDG and didn't get the best of news now I have to wait and see if the surgeon is going ahead with surgery or postpone it. I hope if we postpone it won't be very long if we wait till January my deductible will go up and I will have to pay it again. I pray ire is not serious enough for that.

  3. Hello all. My name is Caroline from Memphis. I have three grown children and two of them are considering having babies. I have to get in shape! I've been steadily gaining weight for about 20 years. I'm 5'3"' date=' 263 lbs. I start pre-op diet Friday and surgery is scheduled 11/22. I'm so tired of being tired, my knees hurt all the time, acid reflux stinks, COPD and asthma are worse with weight gain, depression is worse, on days off I just want to sleep. Something very strange...since I got my surgery date I've realized how weight gain has affected my life for so many years. It's been very depressing. I want to be able to put socks and shoes on without huffing and puffing. I'm glad to have found this group and the segment for 50 and over. I look forward to starting my journey![/quote']

Oh I know how you feel. My surgery is set for the 25th. I have had to do a six months pre surgery for my insurance. So ready to get this started.

  4. Next week I am going on my very first cruise I am really excited. I wish I were already sleeved and well on my way to my goal weight. I would love to look good but that didn't happen so I will go on my cruise enjoy my family and vacation and the food. When I get back I will prepare for my surgery which is scheduled for the 25th of November. This is a very exciting time in my life.

  5. Brenda' date=' I was 54 when I had my surgery, GET ready... you will feel 40 again, follow the Dr's rules, and you will ROCK that SLEEVE, Look forward to a year or two out when I can read your post's.. Holler if I can help.. It was the BEST thing I did for MY HEALTH and LIFE. Look at my stats! Best of luck to you.[/quote']

Thank you for the words of encouragement. My best friend at work had it done a year ago and she looks amazing and has made her goal. I have about 40 more pounds to lose then she did. November just can't get here fast enough.

  6. welcome to the fifties! I turned 54 in August and was sleeved LAST November. It was a great decision for me and no regrets. I think the Aug./Nov. Combo must be a lucky one! Here's my before and after pictures just to give you a taste of what's ahead of you. Keep us posted on your progress.

You don't know how close we are at starting weight. I am only 5ft tall well dr measured me at 4 11 1/2. But I can't wait to look as good as you.

  7. So' date=' today is day 2 of my pre op diet and I am slightly confused about Protein shakes/ bars. I bought a couple different kinds from GNC, but am not sure if they are the right things. Does anyone have any good suggestions of which Protein shakes/ powders have worked best for them, without tasting yucky? An advice would be helpful...thanks so much![/quote']

I hope I am not breaking any rules but you ask about great shakes and the best I have had is with Zeal. If your interested email me at brenda@gabbart .com
