i guess i fail to see how anyone else can "ruin" anything for me... this is an online forum. there are 100s and 100s of people here. at any one time there will be many people saying things i dont like, for whatever reason. if someone says something i dont like, i move on. people werent put on this earth to act the way i think they should and vise versa. its not my job to babysit anyone's feelings and no one should have to babysit my feelings.... if someone is personally attacking me then i report them. otherwise, no one ruins anything for me... i am an adult, i get to choose how much weight i put on someone else's responses to me (or anyone else).
once i start requiring other people to act a certain way so i can have a certain experience, i am giving away my power and responsibility. i am here to get support, knowledge and share my experience. if any one person isnt adding to that, so what? move on! if you are going to hang out in an online forum, you need a thick skin... people are always going to act in ways you dont like, you cant let them ruin your experience here if the reason you are here is important to you.

People say things bluntly at times. They also sometimes react to a post rather then passing it by or letting them go, particularly the "I cheated posts." If someone is actually concerned about damage to their sleeve, they know to contact a doctor. I feel like most people post those because they either want validation that it's ok or they need a swift kick in the *ss. In case people haven't figured it out yet, you will get both reactions if you post that on here...
As for the other topics that get heated at times, read the responses that are helpful and ignore all the other stuff. That's all you can do. Don't worry about the stuff you can't control.

I weighed yesterday, but totally forgot to post.
I'm up a smidge from Monday.
    Starting weight 171.9
    Goal weight: 164
I think it might be a stretch because I'm so close to goal, but I have to shoot for a normal BMI. That'll be the first time I'll be in the normal BMI range since I was 6 years old!

I also highly recommend park Nicollet and Dr Jones!! They are fantastic! The program is set up very well and they make everything simple to complete. Everyone I have worked with there from schedulers to nurses to hospital staff and doctors have all been amazing! Dr Jones is a great surgeon! Rated a top doctor for general surgery for a few years now. I actually requested him when I needed my gallbladder out and he fit me into his booked schedule when I needed it moved up a few weeks. He's a very caring and competent surgeon! His WLS stats are great which he's happy to share with you. I am extremely happy with my decision to go through them!

I will also raise my hand :-/ I had no health issues yet, other then knee and back pain. Being over 300 lbs that's to be expected. Otherwise BP was good, sugars good, etc... I knew it wouldn't be long before I started having issues tho. Plus my very obese uncle's death was an eye opener...
Overall tho, I really wanted to be happy with my appearance. I wanted to be comfortable going shopping. I really wanted to stop feeling like I was being judged everywhere I went. I wanted to get married and start a family with my bf, but I could imagine having everyone staring at me for a whole day...
My health reasons were eventual, but certainly going to be an issue. My vanity was the main one for doing it now... Plus I just got tried of all the failed diet attempts. There's a point where 15 years of failed dieting is enough!

Anyone at any point is welcome to join. Just post your starting weight and July 4th goal tomorrow. Then come back every Friday (or whatever day you prefer to weigh) to report in :-)
Remember after surgery you will retain some Water so the following week might not be what you think, but it'll get better after that comes off.
    Good luck!!

I'm so sorry for everything that you and Bear are going through! Life is not fair! It's not easy to do the things we need to for ourselves when we see our loved ones struggling. Keep coming on here for support, talking with friends, and anything else you can do to let out your feelings. You are going through so much and need to be able to share it rather then bottle it up and resort back to old habits to deal with it. I know I would need a lot of support if I was in your shoes as I am an emotional eater. I agree that seeing a therapist might also be helpful.
Take care of yourself for his sake because I'm sure he wants you to be happy and healthy despite everything that's going on. You are a beautiful couple! You and Bear are in my thoughts!

You sound exactly like me, weight evenly proportioned everywhere... I'm 27 and no kids. I'll be honest, the skin bothers me more then I thought it would presurgery. I have a little more then I hoped, but still not that much.
HOWEVER, I can stand up without my knees killing me... I can walk up the 3 flight of stairs at my work without getting winded. I can shop anywhere I want and buy cute clothes. My clothes hide all of it (as well as my kymaro body shapers). I won't get into how much better sex is... It was good before, but let's just say lots more things are possible once 145 lbs are gone! If I'm feeling self conscience about the little sagging skin, I wear lingerie. I'm excited to ride amusement park rides again this summer, because I haven't been in 5+ years. I'm playing softball again. I tried on wedding dresses and actually enjoyed the experience.
I could go on and on about all the positive things that having this surgery to help me lose weight has done for my life... In short, yes the skin bothers me at times, but I have NEVER regretted the decision to have the surgery because of it.

I was second guessing my decision right up until they put me under in the OR... Second guessing is completely normal! I had a dream the night before where I actually ran out of the OR. I'm so glad I didn't change my mind! I've had moments where I've thought this sucks or why did I do this to myself... However everything other minute trumps those moments. All the successes and things I can do now that I could before makes me glad I kept my butt on the OR table!

Thank you! I wore it to the lake today and it felt AMAZING!
Congrats on your surgery! The first week was definitely the hardest for me and it just got easier from there. My exercises of choice are Spin classes and Bodypump classes. Weight training is very important so don't forget that. But take exercise slow this early on in your journey. Wait til your doctor clears you and go as slow as your body tells you to for now. It was hard for me to get used to exercising on such low caloric intake.
    You'll do great!
