Newbie looking for support
Good luck honey! I'm also 35 with a teen & a tween. I told a good friend when I was still trying to decide & they were so upset that I was "risking my life for something I could do with diet & exercise". It crushed my excitement & I decided to only talk about it with people who have had WLS. I wanted educated opinions only. Nobody I spoke to had ANY regrets. There may be a day soon after surgery when you're asking yourself "what the heck did I get myself into" but after being fully healed I have NO REGRETS! Wish I would have done it sooner. My husband had reservations at first but once he gave me his wishes I really heard them & chose to comply to help him understand & support my decision. After all, he's a reasonable man. He asked me to wait 3 mos so that he wasn't so busy at work so he could take off during my recovery & to really research it & be absolutely certain I'd be able to live with my decision. It just so happened to take that long to get every appointment & insurance squared away. He also asked me to commit to being more active. The whole family goes to the gym almost every night now. He tells me I was always beautiful, I'm just showing off now. I've been very open about my WLS now that its over. I get compliments daily at work on my progress. I wish you a speedy recovery & contentment in your decisions.

June 6th. Looking for my sleeve siblings! :)
According to my scale this a.m. I'm down 33 lbs! I bought a size 14 shorts & I'm determined to get in them by late September. 30 mins almost everyday on elliptical or treadmill & some weight lifting / ab crunches almost everyday should get me to my goal! BMI chart says I should be around 120lbs. WOAH! 6/6/13 SW 230 7/29/13 CW 197 Height 5' 3.5"

Did you eat grits in post- op?
- Onederland!
Doctor's appointment on Friday I weighed 201.5 but when I weighed at home naked I was 199.8. Woohoo!- June surgery dates
SW 230. CW 201.5. Height 5' 3.5"- Did you eat grits in post- op?
Once I reach my weight loss goal I may break down & get a small popcorn extra butter at the movie theater. I would cry if I could NEVER taste one of those delicious morsels for the remainder of my life. May come with a side of dumping syndrome but I'll cross that bridge when it gets here.- Did you eat grits in post- op?
I was told no grits ever again because they swell & also because they are made from corn. Corn products are a big no no because they are carb loaded & turn straight to sugar. My nutritionist said, "don't come crying to me if you don't reach your weight loss goal". This was when I told her how much I loved tamales(masa), popcorn, tortilla chips & corn on the cob.- Anyone not told to follow a specific pre-op diet?
My doctor said the pre/op diet was helpful in 2 ways. Gets you in the right mindset for your new lifestyle restrictions & the weight loss helps with the surgery. He said they blow your stomach up with air like a big glow worm for the laparoscopic procedure & the looser your skin the more they like it / easier to see & maneuver. Clear liquids the day prior is so you don't throw up a thanksgiving meal from anesthesia & less junk to worry about spilling out during removal of excess stomach. I've heard horror stories of people throwing up during the procedure & getting it in their lungs. Do what your doctor tells you. He can cancel the procedure if he's not happy with you. LOL. The doc is the boss. Good luck! No regrets here!- Need ideas for canned tuna
I despise Tuna so I've been doing canned chicken & making chicken salad with extra boiled eggs for added Protien. Celery salt is key. Yum-O- Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
- 50 pounds down, 100 to go
Atta girl! I'm 6 weeks out today & hope I'm as successful as you in the next 4 weeks. SW 230 CW 208. 5' 3.5"- June 2013 Sleevers GROUP
I've read a lot of people are having issues with the left side / trash tummy removal incision. Mine came out through my belly button & have thankfully not had ANY issues. Hopefully more surgeons will start leaning towards this method. I also had issues drinking Ensure & Boost Protein shakes. They were too thick. I bought Premier Protein from SAM's club & they're thinner so they go down a lot easier & they're 30 grams each. That's my only suggestion for protein issues. Someone wrote on here that they found out they were allergic to whey. Hopefully that's not what y'all are experiencing. Good Luck!- South Louisiana Sleevers?
- Menstrual irregularities
YES! Salty then sweet. I had my usual PMS munching issues. Thankfully there's not a lot of room in the tummy to call it my usual PMS binge eating though.- Menstrual irregularities
I finally started so I'm just gonna assume our bodies were or are in shock & weird is the new norm. Lol.- South Louisiana Sleevers?
Good Luck, Shay! Tell u how things went- South Louisiana Sleevers?
Good luck, Shay!- South Louisiana Sleevers?
I live in Picayune, MS & had my sleeve done at Southern Surgical in Slidell, La on 6/6/13 with Dr. French. What a hottie! LOL. Haven't weighed since 6/17 but was down 17 lbs that day. I'm in an old pair of jeans I haven't worn in years today. The button's about to fly across the room but I'm in dem bishes!!! 5' 3.5" started 230 last weigh in 213.- Feeling very frustrated!
When I'm craving a few Cheetohs I tell myself "after you eat something approved by the doctor first". I never get to the Cheetohs. A few swigs of the Protien shake & I'm stuffed.- Orange juice
I would think the sugar content would be a problem as well as the acid.- Menstrual irregularities
My last period started May 25th. I was sleeved June 6th. I'm usually very regular. I should have started around June 25th but still haven't. There's no way I'm pregnant. Is anyone else experiencing menstrual irregularities?- Quick question....
My doctor told me I could have sex as soon as I felt up to it. I must say, there's been A LOT of it. The weight loss is definitely making me feel sexier & my husband is living every bit if it. Happy Humping, Ladies!- June surgery dates
- What is it that you hate the most about being sleeved.
- POP?!
I've heard the same. Straws allow you to swallow air which causes discomfort & carbonation hurts as well(I'm told) but If you're considering soda I hope it's diet soda. Someone on here suggested getting the soda stream syrups & mixing with water to avoid the carbonation. If you're drinking diet & eliminating carbonation I don't see how it's any different than drinking Crystal Light. Neither have any nutritional value that I'm aware of. As always, water is best. Good luck! - Onederland!
