Camella got a reaction from Sleevin'It in I have messed up and I'm so annoyed with myself
Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement. It's easy to think pre-op that everything is going to change once you are sleeved. Only to realize that you still have the same brain
I will definitely move on and do better tomorrow. I have lost 30 pounds and have received lots of positive comments over the last couple of days. So I'm also certain that there was a little self sabotage involved. I guess this is a reminder that I need to also work on my thinking. It's really great to hear from people that can relate!

I'm with Denise. We all mess up. Just pick yourself up and try again. This is a lifelong change that we are making. Our lives will be full of ups and downs. Just keep plugging away and your lifestyle changes will become the norm. Good luck and keep your chin up!

    Hi Opal
My hubby was not really on board before my surgery, but he came to a couple of my appointments and suddenly started to "get" what a big deal it is. I'm sorry that you will have to do this alone! Just wait until the weight starts falling off and you look and feel great! I have a feeling he won't let you go to the gym without him!

Camella got a reaction from TwinsMama in Why do some spouses seem so threatened by wls?
I know for my husband it was fear of the unknown - he doesn't really like change, especially sudden change. We have a really happy marriage and I'm confident that won't change regardless of what size I am. I think if you have a strong foundation to begin with (which it sounds like you definitely do) this new journey will just make you closer and stronger!
Remember that you are not the only one that is going to have to transition into a new way of living. Your hubby will be effected by this change too. I can imagine if it was my husband doing the same thing, I would feel a little insecure. Just continue to reassure him if he voices any concerns. He may need just a little extra TLC.

In my opinion it has a lot to do with the person's insecurities and less to do with the WLS. If a marriage is strong, based in love/loyalty/respect then it will survive. Maybe work to get him involved in your journey. Have him be your 'coach". That way he feels a part of it and hopefully it will help ease his anxiety. It also doesn't hurt to spend a little extra time with him, sharing your feelings. And if all else fails, perhaps seeking outside support from a therapist or even your church. I just wish all great happiness and success!!!

    13. Don't expect your GI tract to work the same post surgery as it did before. Weird things will be happening. And under no circumstances should you trust a fart.< /p>

Because in a way, at least in my mind, it's a rapid change in you that they have no say/control/input in. You're literally changing without them. And in another sense, by losing weight you might gain a sense of power that you didn't have before. It's important for you two to have a strong communication with each other, even after the surgery. Make sure he feels secure in who you are. Even open up about some insecure things with him. Gauge your responses.

Camella got a reaction from greygirl903 in Walking Isnt Enough
I don't know if you have a heart rate monitor or not - but that may assist you with the walking and measure the intensity you are exercising at. Set yourself a target heart rate and increase intensity as needed. It's also a good source of motivation as you see your fitness improve. I think that the idea of walking not being exercise is very old fashioned. I had a personal trainer in the past that told me depending on how high you swing your arms and how fast you walk, you can almost get the same work out you would from a run.

Wow I'm so sorry that you had to go through this. I also had my spleen nicked but they fixed it while I was under - my surgery took an hour more than it should have as they needed to control the bleeding. I have had some other complications too but fortunately they were resolved quickly. I really feel for you as I know for myself having never been ill before, it really took a toll on me physically and emotionally. Congratulations on seeking help - you are taking a brave step forward! Good luck

I get like that, along with other symptoms from stuff containing sugar. I never had an issue with sugar before surgery but now i am extremely sensitive to it. I have to check everything for hidden sugar.
I have also heard of people feeling like that from eating too fast.

I do that every time i swallow chewable vitamins. I would talk to your Dr aout it for sure. If its blood sugar related you need to know and need to know how to handle it.

Eating too fast and eating one spoon too much usually gives u those symptoms... Chew well, helps u get a reasonable amount of food in, eat slowly and pay attention as u eat - and stop before u feel full. The last one is hardest for me of i am enjoying the food :-((((

I have a 4 yr old son and I was in hospital for two nights. I didn't want to scar him so I didn't have him come in. My husband brought him in to pick me up from hospital (with a lovely bunch of flowers) and he was so excited to see me and take me home. I think he asked about the purpose of every button in the room. I think having him come in did help him realize that mummy had a "sick tummy" and I needed to remind him to not jump on me often! Now my incisions are starting to heal he asked me yesterday "so can I squish you now?" Best of luck

Camella got a reaction from LisaCincyRN in Poop talk - sorry if it's TMI
I had the same thing and it got progressively worse. Dr told me it was normal initially and my stomach was cramping quite a bit. Realized after one week that it was C-Diff. It's most likely normal as you just have Fluid going in, but definitely worth checking with your doctor to make sure it's not something more serious (at least that was my experience).

Camellia, is that the Vita gummies? I bought some for the kids and have been into the jar myself... very sweet. I'd been wondering myself if it was all too good to be true.

My dietician said not to worry about chewable and to take any good quality multi Vitamin with Water as you would any other medication you are on, even in the first week post off and when on puree.

Hi Camella! I stopped taking vitagummies when I realised the adult dose of 3 pastilles gave me an extra 60 calories on mfp! I thought they tasted sweet as well-they have glucose Syrup in them My dietician said a soluble Supradyn extra was good if I couldn't handle a pill otherwise Centrum was fine.I have been taking one Centrum for Women tablet per day since the first week of fluids (zero calories). Also one Caltrate plus, silica (to stop hair loss)and Vitamin D.I also take other stuff but that is for my arthritis.
BTW: the vitagummy fibre pastilles are 5 cals for an adult dose of two gummies.A good alternative to jubes (joke!) and it claims to give 3 grams of dietry fibre but also very sweet.

Thanks for all your kind words yesterday. Dr ended up giving me a day pass so I was allowed out of the hospital for a few hours which was wonderful. Everything is going well and surgery is booked in for 6.30 am tomorrow! Fingers crossed everything goes well this time.

I think this is totally normal to feel like this. Not only did you have the complication but you're also probably disappointed that you haven't had the sleeve as planned. These things add up and can leave you feeling pretty anxious.
I agree that distraction can be helpful and also just weighing up the pros and cons. The anxiety is just one of the cons and when you see it written down it can help put it into perspective.
There should be a hospital social worker too- ask for a chat to talk it out with them- again anxiety is at it's worst when you're feels g alone and vulnerable. Keep talking about it and problem solving the concerns you're raising- as much as you can.
Once you make this choice to proceed, you can then use some basic strategies like identifying if it is a real problem in the now or a projected problem/ future problem. Ask yourself "is there anything I can do about this right now?" If so, make a plan and then DO it. If not, then try to sit back from the problem and acknowledge that it hasn't happened so I can leave that alone.
Doesn't always work but if you keep at it I guarantee you will feel better!!
All the best! Thinking of you and hope the week goes fast and you'll be sleeved before you know it
    Cheers Liss

So sorry to hear that. It must be frustrating to have to wait! My surgeon nicked my spleen during the surgery and I lost a lot of blood. I totally trust and respect him as a surgeon, I guess like all of us surgeons are human and these things happen. They are working in a very confined space. I wish you well for Friday!
