    Scared

I have chronic pain due to a condition and am on a fentanyl patch. I've had tons of surgeries including a lap band. I figured this would be no worse. To say I was unprepared for this pain would be an understatement. By day two, it was gone. I did have some complications from being on steroids so long. My stomach tissue was too thin. They had to staple, stitch and glue.
  2. I had my lap band slip after 7 years in April, 2013, had ER surgery and quickly gained 25 pounds. Thankfully the doctor agreed to sleeve me while i was at 30 BMI based on passed and co-morbidities. I just had my sleeve on 6/26. I'm not going to lie. It hurt. A lot. But I did have some additional Complications due to chronic steroid use from arthritis. This resulted in my stomach being paper thin and frayed. Surgery was 2.5 hours. So, I'm attributing the additional pain to that. I stayed an extra day bc they had to staple, stitch and glue my new stomach. But I'm completely independent now. No pain Meds for over 36 hours. Waiting on doc to show up so I can go Home. My Husband asked me on the Day of surgery if it was worth it and I said no. Now, I'm saying yes as long as the post lap band weight comes off. I had read on here that it was no worse than the lap band. So i only scheduled three days off of work. Which is what i did with the band. Probably not the best idea, but ill make it. Good Luck to everyone and I will keep you posted on my progress.

  4. After telling people about the lap band and learning that no one supported my decision (not even my then husband), I have only told My current Husband and one girlfriend. Since my lap band removal was just recent, I have regained just 25 lbs. So the weight loss will be do to other factors like diet. As for my employer and everyone else, I am going in for a hernia repair.

    Surgery Date June 26th

I'm scheduled for 6/26 too! I had a lap band since January 2005, but it slipped suddenly and I Had emergency surgery to have it removed (while on vacation no less) on April 7. In the two months, I've gained 25 pounds. Decided to have the sleeve before I gain ALL of the weight back. I went from a 4 to a 10 in two months. I miss my band. Praying this works as well, If not better.
