How did you manage the protein bars? I've seen a lot with a tons of sugar and of course calories, on top of that, the ones with low sugar have a lot of sugar alcohols.
-
Next week? Its Tuesday they can't get you in sooner?
-
Depends. I did 40 lbs. on bicep curls. I dont know if that's usual for a size 0 5'1" female or not.
-
Same here BBdoodle, how do you get your protein in? I understand what you are saying blondiee. Its not fun, I'm sorry you have to go through it.

Any one have a problem with the above foods? I can't take them any longer.
-
LOL yes - but I do swim meets, road races, etc. when I can.

Yep that is me. I appreciate it. Thanks. I have seen several GI's and no longer have a surgeon or any bariatric care in the area. Once I complained about a HIPAA violation & couple other things, I got dropped. I never had less than 3 months without going to the surgeon, and then once that was done, even though retaliation is against the law, I got dumped. No care in the area once that happens. I've been with several GI's, most of them don't know what to do. Once you've seen a doc in one practice that owns several groups, you can't see any one else. The main guy who sees bariatric people won't see me for that reason, they shut it all down. Even though he is the one I need to see. The worst was the bariatric surgeon though. Can't afford a nat, there is one in the area but I waited 9 months before I got told it wouldn't be on insurance. That's part of the problem, the damage done by the surgeon dropping me and missing some of the issues that weren't treated while I was worth him. I just do the best I can and then warn people what to look out for. Most don't know about neuropathies after bariatric surgery. Stuff like that, its not the problem of getting them, the problem is getting doctors to think thru them. Once you are done with the surgery, most have the money and don't want to be bothered.

They're right on the distance. All around here, including the ultra people, build up for distance first. Then they do time. Swimming is quite different from running. In swimming, if you flip turn you get a break. You don't have to work for 10-15 yards after the turn. The Water floats your body when the pounding is what you get otherwise. I think you have a great and wise head on your shoulders. You have a workout that is fabulous. Lets be honest, over 55 years of age and starting out there is not ONE person who is not going to cheer you on and tell you to push it. Although I could ask the Legend around here if you are interested. Look up Mel Williams PhD. He's run every Marine Corp, and he's in his 70's. Mel is outstanding. I served on the board of the Tidewater Striders with him. A great man ... I could ask him and see if he'd be willing to give you something if you wanted. I personally can't see anything wrong with what you're doing.

Some of it is refractory to diet change. What it doesn't say is that the food is all soft breads, pudding, etc. type of stuff. Dr. Martinez has the best common sense explanation I've seen. Better than the its your problem go figure it out from my surgeon. I did develop intolerances, something the allergist confirmed. I had allergies before & asthma, so I sort of figured to go even though my surgeon said nothing. Its not that it is related to the gastroparesis, its just another problem that went wrong after the surgery. Gerd/reflux I developed after the surgery, IBS, the gastroparesis isn't fully gone, and the food intolerances on top of that. Basically anything that is processed can be a problem. I never seem to have problems with salads, but every now and then turkey/chicken/eggs, my main Protein sources, tend to need to go off for a bit and then rebuild back up.

Sleeve. It was SUPPOSED to fix the gastroparesis. The main study out of NY said 86% of people get resolution when they have it. Well low and behold a couple of months ago, they ran another gastric emptying study and still mildly delayed. {{sigh}} LOL. Win some you lose some! At least I lost my weight, unfortunately I lost my chest and my ability to stay out of the doctors office and in the pool at the same time. ROFL.

Garden of Life is good and I've seen Raw. Vitamin Code I've done also. I've seen pea products out there, some of Vega's stuff has pea in it. I've not seen JR yet.

Dumping syndrome after cherry yogurt?
swimbikerun replied to mommyjamie's topic in Food and Nutrition
I still remember the first time I did. Surgeon said take childrens' Tylenol for the pain. I was sucking it up. So I was ok I'll give it a shot. OMB I chewed his name. Then a friend, with a Bachelors degree in ART who was an ART TEACHER before being a SAHM, I tell her what happens and she said oh that's too much sugar, you shouldn't do that. {{shaking head}} That was a harbinger of things to come with the surgeon. I found out his wife was a pediatric doctor. I said no wonder his kids are alive. Ye Gods ... LOL. -
Dumping syndrome after cherry yogurt?

I think it just happens that way to some people. I had problems in the beginning but I had gastroparesis for years. It seems it has come back and fluctuates. Now with a non existent stomach, and a few other things, it never seems to work right. -
I might never do a Marathon or a Dualathon

YES! Great job!!! -
Ah ok. That would make some sense then. I'd have to look up to see what happened with Obesity Surgery if there is anything in there.

It does apply to sleeve. If you look in the medical literature, it has been known to happen. I sure had it really bad right after surgery for months. Its not that bad now but sometimes more than a few bites and I get the nausea, shakes, etc. Its not as bad as bypass but sometimes it can be. I was pretty fussy when it first happened after the surgery because the surgeon said it wouldn't. -
Soy and I don't get along well. Never have before the surgery. Thanks for the Jay Robb ... I will see about that.

I can only do short rides but I just got a triathlon bike. Its much easier on the legs, considering the neuropathies.

Just wishing the best of luck to all! -
Have you seriously talked with some of the runner groups or walker groups there? There are running stores that you can get fitted for shoes for your gait.
-
Instead of being in the gym, how about being outside? Doing things outside like gardening, picking your own veggies, walking, biking?
-
Should be but with each one being different, it could irritate the stomach more so than anything else, pressure?

Maybe the issue is going from RNY to DS OR the issue is 10% more, not 10 pounds more?
