wanna lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks

Um you don't have a surgery date? What requirements have you fulfilled from the surgeon? I guess I'm a little bit confused because it says you don't have a surgery date but in 2 weeks you'll be off for 2 months. If you don't have a surgery date then it takes a few weeks to get one. I'm sorry to not be that helpful. Could you give us a little more detail please? Thanks.

How do you handle not eating at work

I still go out with groups to eat. I just eat what I can and use the rest for leftovers. Or I don't eat and just drink and enjoy the company.

    Constipation! Help!

I've seen 2 schools of thought on the "lazy" bowel if you take softeners, laxatives, etc. So I don't think it is set in stone. That being said, best to review any literature and see if there are 2 competing schools of thought in the research and how they're getting proven.

    Planking

Yes, my vet does it also. He actually released a Christmas photo one year planking on the exam table. ROFL.

    Constipation! Help!

Once you get low, it is worth trying to get the infusions. Just a note, there is a difference between heme and non heme iron, for those who don't know, and how much is absorbed. So something you might want to watch for.

    Constipation! Help!

One note on this: are they telling you to take Vitamin C with it? That enhances absorption. Do you take it with Synthroid or levothyroxine? If you do, the Iron can cause decreased absorption. Dont take it with Calcium either. Are they sure you have an IDA or something else? I mean just what were you tested for? TIBC, UIBC, etc.

    Running too Slow

Most of the great distance runners are not the 20-24 year old group. We have one who became a noted runner after their 40th birthday - closer to 50 actually. Same for their partner.

    Triathlon

I am a slacker. I have runner and swimmer and biker friends. I asked who was the local groups in town and then started from there. Can you check to see if you have anything like that? I don't know if you have already, so I apologize if that was stupid. Let me know so I can give another suggestion.

    Goal weight

You could have one, the surgeon could have one. I never had one, it was just to get healthier and to go back to my old life.

    sick for the first time

Everybody has to try something sometime. Its ok, everyone does it. Don't feel bad mentally over it. You are trying to get in what you need and that's understandable. Hopefully it is a while before it happens again. Good luck!

    Constipation! Help!

Have you talked with a GI? I had the same issue but eventually got iron infusions to help (and a few other things) so that I don't take the pills. They were pretty much useless any way. I have several GI problems but I don't use the Miralax. Some GI's say it is good to use all the time, others not. Its hard to tell.

    PMS

What does your ob/gyn say? After 2 months, if you aren't pregnant, you do want to see your doctor. I hope all goes well and let us know? That's concerning.

Optimal fat burning for a cardio day

I have to roughly estimate since I've had malnutrition issues and items that all have in common malnutrition. I had a really bad time with the gastroparesis when I was first diagnosed. Now with a tiny stomach and all the other GI issues, and especially now that I'm not a size 20 any more ... I have to try and shovel food in. Counting calories or estimating them every day is not something I'm going to get away from. Whoever thinks that bariatric surgery is the easy way out, come live in my shoes for a week. I put in writing to go into my medical record that I wanted to be thinner not Karen Carpenter.

Optimal fat burning for a cardio day

How do you guys do that? I would be up at 4 am to get going before a 50 lap swim at 530 and ate and drank a couple hundred calories or three. If I did that on an empty stomach I would have busted at about 20 laps. Man I am impressed. Then again, do you all normally get in more than 1500 calories? Until they gave me something to help the motility issues I was down to 700 calories. (I had GI problems before the surgery which multiplied after).

Optimal fat burning for a cardio day

I think this is a fabulous well thought plan. Truly one of the best ones I've seen. After looking at this, my only comment would be that in a fasting state, you are looking at longer hours of being without food. Figuring what? 8-10 hours at least between dinner and Breakfast. I wonder if that would be the only difference between trying to do 2-3 hours and at least 8-10. Your body should be starved more.

    Strugglin

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant. Are you going to places hungry? Don't they have any healthy Snacks? Those are great options and will help you in vitamin/minerals department. Another option is eat before hand. Anything else, the phen isn't going to help you with.

18 months out...finding the right balance

Jeff, There are tons of other sports outside of running. Have you thought about a local community center that is cheaper or a gym that goes month by month in the winter? Swimming, biking, all ways to help out. Weight lifting also. You didn't say if you were recording what you ate and drank.

    Cereal?

Never touched cereal. Its more like a bread - how is that going to give you real vitamins, minerals, instead of lean proteins and fruit or veggies?
  21. Hi, People are always willing to share but what specifically do you want to know about? The reason why I say that is that everyone has their own way of getting thru things, some are generic to all. Those should be gone over by your doctor. If not, there are a number of websites that do that. I have a blog, several others do, on what to look out for. Many of the bariatric surgery places them. So how can we specifically help you?

18 months post and its confession time,...

Chelenka if you are healthier and happier than you were, if you are not "normal" BMI that's fine. I've seen before in the medical literature that said it is actually unrealistic to expect a % of people to get to normal weight, but with improvements in health. In the end, isn't that what matters? Getting healthier?

    What is your advice?

Let me ask you: are you where you think you should be?
  25. I am so very sorry to hear this. I also have been on the receiving end of a bariatric surgeon who was less than ideal. They don't like me saying so but I found medical research that indicated missed complications that other docs found. I've been barred from care in the area because of that. If you blog about it or write a website on it, I'd be happy to link mine to it. I was just followed yesterday almost to my car for simply holding a sign with my website address & '100% legal, why are they watching'. They were waiting for it also. I've called the cops and supposedly they'll check into it. Its been reported to management but they've already denied care. I said at least I have a slew of items to post that I tried to get them to fix things. I asked them questions and didn't get answers. I'm paying the price. Is this what you want? The best thing you can do is to tell people what your experiences are. Then maybe there can be change for patients - especially in the realm of aftercare.
