We're here to listen. I second everything said above. Let me ask you - what do you like to do to feel good about yourself? What about pampering yourself? Sounds like you use it. You are beating yourself up: maybe a warm bath, get a massage, a pedi and mani?

Surgery Buddy needed 6/24/14
swimbikerun replied to Reddrobin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Age and BMI have numbers. Caring, love, concern, friendship, hugs don't. They're immeasurable. No matter what your age number is, getting healthy is a great thing. -
Someone suggest a love this button. Great job as always Fiddleman!! Btw ... just so you know ... for most women, whether or not you have T in the body is not as important as $$$ in the bank. LOL I couldn't resist!

I would want to know the *medical* reasons why the surgeon is against it. I've personally had to deal with a doctor before that didn't give me medical reasons for things and used the 'you don't trust me' excuse to not answer. I found out he was wrong about a few things. Its not that he was wrong is bad, but that he wouldn't listen and how he acted in response to the situation. I'd ask the medical reasons. Seems odd to me because I've not heard of this many surgeries having to be done on someone before.

Oh my gracious!! I am so very sorry to hear this, that is rough. You are a very strong person to go through all of this. From what I understand - so note this could be wrong - is that the "leak tests" they do should indicate whether or not the leak is healed. I don't understand why they didn't suture that. What did the doctor explain to you about all this?

No meat...? Oh the struggle...
swimbikerun replied to ShaDiva's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I put them in the dressing on salads. berry works great for those and so does unflavored. I tried chocolate once and that didn't go over well. I was wondering if I could make a chocolate frosting for strawberries LOL with Protein powder. I'll try anything. -

Adequate food intake at 2 years study
swimbikerun replied to swimbikerun's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
That is what gets me about the one size fits all approach after surgery. They have your money and now its like here go take a pill and bye. -
food intake in women two years or more after bariatric surgery meets adequate intake requirements - supplements and what that data is based on? I mean some of these places do market to us, do we really need it?
-
I agree with the above. LOL

Hey here is one: what do people define as "good carbs"? I would say berries, bananas, dates, corn. What is everyone elses' take on this?

How do you get 70gm of protein without shakes
swimbikerun replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can manage more like 5 meals a day ... assuming no nausea and no throwing up. I'd love some cheesecake. Some tail - I was looking forward to that at 6 months out. Looks like you've got something good going there. My question is: does your docs' office help you with this or do you do it yourself? -
Adequate food intake at 2 years study

Escape Pod this is what concerns me: the lack of aftercare. It is due to that that I have developed issues. This is something that is not widely publicized but is well known that after they get the $$$ for the surgery, that's where they make their money, outside of getting you back for the data for ASMBS or their records, there is no reason for them to have anything to do with you. Unless you sing their praises to bring in more $$$$. -
Soy is also a problem for me. Same for lots of food restrictions. What about eating as vegetarian as possible? That's what I do.

Would you like to be in my shoes? Untreated malnutrition goes to neurological damage, eventual eye surgery for cataracts, sight problems, vein issues ... the list goes on. -
Oh heck no. The ones I know do, but I've got a couple that could use "surgery". LOL. I'm not judgemental. I work with Hindu's. I laugh and told them they put a curse on me. Used to I could eat every meat under the sun (we've tried kangaroo, ostrich, deer, rabbit, etc.) and after the surgery and everything went odd, I could manage chicken and turkey and that's it. This year the chicken went odd a few times. Yes, the ones I know do eat a good amount of carbs. I'm not in your face. If someone wants to know, I say but I don't do it for any reasons other than I can't eat a lot of other foods. PS I would feed a dog and cat meat because they're carnivours. We're omnivours. If someone doesn't want to eat meat, ok by me. If you want to eat McDonalds' and the like all the time, you have a death wish but I don't call that food or meat. That is called digging your own grave with a knife and fork.
